How to set feature image automatically ?

This is my first thread
I have a an afilliate website that showcases various wordpress themes.
The posts are automatically generated by a recipe I created using ifttt
It automatically imports each theme's info (including images) as posts into my wordpress site from the affiliate's atom RSS feed section.
The only problem is, it doesn't import the most important image which I want visitors to see. So whenever a new post is imported, I get a black screen with the message 'Feature Image Missing' .
This means I have to edit each individual post, download the image manually into my post, link it with the correct affiliate url & aff.id, and then also select it as the feature image from my image gallery.
Like really ? There's gotta be a better faster way out there which people are already using.
On top of this, I got about 600 affiliate clickthroughs but not ONE sale.
Looking forward to any solutions and/or suggestions.
