    one of my clients sells some sort of weird sex toy thingy, he runs ads on adult sites and magazines and does pretty well with it.

    IT's super easy to get traffic in that market, and you can get it for very cheap.

        You are coming into this thread full of crap trying to get people to click your sig. Adult stuff converts worse than any niche online. 1:2000+ sales ratios are common. You need to control huge amounts of traffic to make that work. We're talking sites that get 10,000, 30,000, 50,000 uniques per day, which in porn isn't that big of a deal since the traffic is so plentiful and worthless.

        The industry peaked around 2005. Nowadays you are damn lucky to make even a part time income through it. A more reasonable goal would be to maybe make some spending money. But your time is much better suited elsewhere.

          Not true. If you laser target your traffic and go very niche you can get excellent conversion rates. Last product in the adult niche converted at 1 in 16 (avg commission $100)

            Nothing that would have a $100 ref converts at 1:16. And your wording "the last product in the adult niche" is odd. You seem to be taking "clean" terms and applying them to adult. Adult promoters don't speak in terms of "the last product" or anything like that. Unlike IM products, adult promotions are ongoing for years and there is no rush to push them on day 1.

            So I feel pretty confident that you don't work in adult just by the way you are talking.

              Sorry but you're wrong. This is a physical adult product and it converts at 1:16 overall in Germany/Switzerland. Also Indian traffic converts well. It's very niche so there isn't a massive amount of daily traffic available but with high commissions I don't care. I've had $400 days with as little as 10 visitors.

                  To those of you who say I'm full of crap you have no clue what you're talking about. There is plenty of money to be made in the adult industry if you know what you're doing. If you aren't making money you are most likely listening to the wrong people.

                  Sorry CherryAffairs I won't reveal the product or the niche. It took a lot of research but I can tell you how I conducted my research and that's by finding websites that contain "eXTReMe Tracking". Some sites display their tracker publically so you can see the search referrals, site referrals etc.. You can learn a lot from this. So I took what I had learned and created a very simple adult website. I did some basic SEO and optimized it for long tail low competition terms which I discovered through Xtreme Tracker and found the product converts at 1 sale for every 16 visitors with an avg. commission of $100.

          Not true. Maybe if you promote only what the masses promote you will get results like that but if you are niche focused you can do well. I have adult projects that get 1:55. Most everything I have in that side of the internet is 1:250 or less. I'm lazer focused in the niches I promote though.

      I'm very new here on the forum, and the type of marketing I read about here is very advanced from what I was used to. I was a very successful dancer - but the hours were dreary. So were a lot of the people in the industry.

      The people on the marketing end of the business do much better than I did. I decided to be on the front side of the marketing equation.

      I wouldn't say so. It's not ultraprofitable anymore as it was 15 years ago, but it's still more profitable than almost all mainstream niches (excluding gambling and pharma of course).

      One of my first real "sales" jobs was working for the now legendary VIVID Video back in the 80's.....where we called mom and pop video stores and pitched them the latest VHS copy of Ginger Lynn for $50 bucks a pop.

      My how things have changed.

      I later became a booking agent for several of the larger adult film starlets and yes....I did my share of affiliate marketing sites back in the day.

      Let me tell u this: The Adult Industry love it or hate has ALWAYS been two steps ahead of the internet marketing world. Warrior Brad Gosse would be the first to agree with me as he was a major player in this industry back in the day.

      The XXX industry CREATED membership slash continuity sites long before the IM world had a friggin' clue.

      They are the masters of Claude Hopkins Metrics 101 which is why I made a ton of money back in the day ($50 bucks a pop) for signing someone up to one of their sites for a two day trial......

      They knew to a science that the average customer stuck around 6.4 months at nearly 40 bucks a month. They were smart enough to pay outrageous fees because they crushed their competition....hint hint.

      Check out sites like COZYFROG if this is your thing....it's like the Warrior Forum for adult webmaster and cpa offers etc. And FYI....adult sites will give you more marketing tools then the IM world would ever dream of.....they go out their way to help you succeed.

      With that said....the industry is so glutted with free porn....it's become much tougher.

      My advice is to find a really obscure NICHE within the porn world and market that.

      I made a fortune just running youtube videos with girls smoking cigars???? WTF

      Over a million views at one point.......and it was something I never realized was even a fetish.

      And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the legal issues...make damn sure what ever site you are promoting is 2257 compliant and make sure if you use their "clips" they are hosted on their own servers...for YOUR protection. If u don't know what I'm talking about......don't get in this industry.

      Really? I find that hard to believe because if you were doing it that long and banking that hard, then you would not have any interest in anything else. Just saying.

      Word of advice to other marketers...stay the hell out of the adult market unless you have one hell of a USP to position yourself. That, and make sure your model is sustainable.

      I do NOT like porn (he he) nor would I ever consider it for business. My thought process on the matter is this: If I don't feel absolutely great about what I do, I can't do it. I would like to be able to tell my kids exactly what I do for a living

      Probably the same reason I could never own a bar/liquor store. I'm sure it's a good business and many people make money with it. My heart wouldn't be into selling "misery" to so many people....even if the money was good.

    I tried the dating niche with more success than the adult niche.

    Dating is OK but so many sites are gonna go out of business because they never had a strategy for mobile dating.

    I haven't but have noticed that a few sites I used to go to went under and now a porn site has bought there url and when I went to a site I used to go to I get re directed to a porn site. This kind of stuff makes me mad that it is allowed to happen.

    If I want to go to a port site I can just go but if I am going to a site that I used to read articles about how to fix my motorcycle and go back to read something I don't want to find out they went out of business by being redirected.
