CALLING ALL $50,000+/YR IM'ERS

by Kenmo

I am interested to know what you warriors who make $50k or more a year in the internet marketing field are doing to make that kind of money consistently.

What is your business model? How are you bringing in an income, blog, list marketing, product reviews, ect. How do you drive traffic? Are you doing all online or do you do offline marketing as well?

I am interested in knowing what is still working in 2013 an beyond. I am at a point where I want to start a sustainable IM business and am just curious what is tried and true.

I have purchased multiple WSO's and programs over the past 2yrs and have been overloaded and to be honest all caught up in the "new shiny object" syndrome. I am done with purchasing anything else and jumping from method to method. I am finally ready to just put my knowledge to good use and "just do it"

I just want some insight on what paths you all are taking to produce $50K/yr so I may make an informed descision on which direction I wish to follow and stick with it.

Thanks,
Ken

People make that amount of money with all different methods. There is no set method that brings in $50K/year. Top blogs out there easily pull that amount in every year with ad revenue. You could make that amount of money in a week with a hyped product launch. If you are choosing to build a website though, it may take a while for the money to start coming in.

It'd be funny to ask how many have earned $2000 in two consecutive weeks then Dragoned a slapbook "product" together that boasts that their method earned them $50,000/year.

Truth be told, even if they say they were north of $50K, remember who you're asking. Juss sayin'.

So the best thing to do is filter everything with what you know to be true.

It doesn't matter how much you want to make - $5, $500 or $500,000 in what time frame. Take that amount and work it backwards. You'll even be able to see right through a LOT of IMer's comedy.

      We Know
You really only have 2 options that have 2 options - product or service. Then your own products or services and/or somebody else's products or services.

      We Know
Whether Adsense, Affiliate, Retail, Service, Blogging, Membership etc. etc. - no matter what method you look at they all fall within those same 2 options that have those 2 options.

      We Know
      $50K/year is $137/day.

      We Know
A new venture will be starting with mostly 1st time visitors

      We Know
Most sites' 1st time visitor conversion rates will be around 2-4% <-- you can massage those higher over time.

      We Know
You have to have a sweet spot in pricing that will convert on first try. Do you have enough credibility to get $1000/conversion? Probably not. $500? nah $100? hmmm
Maybe $47...<--- Ever seen that price before?

So in order to get $137/day you'll need to sell at least 3 of your $47 thing. Count on 4 though for some serial refunder insurance.

      So We Know
4 sales per day is what we need. With a 2-4% conversion rate we should try to get at least 200 visitors/day or 6000 intentionally targeted visitors/month.

      We Know
The number 1 spot in Google for a properly optimized title and meta-desc yields about 30-35% of the clicks on a SERP. So to get to 6000 visitors you'll need content that targets keywords that in total have a search volume of about 20,000 searches/month. <--then repeat month after month.

But...and this is a BIG butt, Not everything you write is going to rank #1. So you'll be depending on a LOT of content in order to get some not ranking insurance.

You'll want to consider paid traffic as your normal case scenario which gives you more control. So that will come out of your sale price.

Free traffic in a real business is a bonus and depending on it will ultimately lead you to banging your head on your desk pleading with the goog gods "why?! why?! why!?"

      Some Variables
Here are some things that matter.

      A) I hate saying "are you in a niche that"...but in the process of researching supply and demand, which is number 1 on the list, does your product or service fill a demand?

Notice I didn't say need. A need is not a demand. And if you are asking about 50K, I know you don't have branding bucks or time to work a need into a demand.

So does your target audience believe that your product or service fills their existing demand? That is a must to find out. Asking yourself, family or friends = not valid data.

      B) Your ratios in Price, Conversion Rates and Traffic will vary a LOT. You need to build in insurance to cover you.

      C) Recurring money is really good money.

      D) Recurring passive money is VERY really good money.

      E) Time for dollars is not as scalable as you think. Think 10 times before selling your elbow time and calling it a business ... it could be the worst job from hell you'll ever have.

      F) Don't expect outsourcing to save you from a service business model from hell. It could be the worst employer/employee relationship from hell you'll ever have. Outsourcing is not something you can master from a $297 PDF.

      Some Ideas:

Membership Sites: Real ones that build community. Sailboating, Remote Control Robots, Drawing, Acting etc. Monetize with Ads, Products or use it on the edges of your ecommerce site...which leads to

      Ecommerce Physical:
Thrifting/Garage sales/Onsie Twosie is a sucky way to generate business income. It's just a real dirty job. You're after genuine repeatable products that you can source with real margins...not some bogus "dropshipper".

      Ecommerce Digital:
Unlimited supply, you can sell them on eBay if they're on a CD...but that's basically unlimited supply and can be fulfilled through some place like Kunaki.

Blogging/Niche Sites: Ad income whether Adsense or not takes a LOT of traffic and time to build and ripen into a business income. But building a list with a free download that has affiliate offers in it, or behind it is a valid method. Demonstrating/Unboxing videos also work for some types of affiliate products. Heck even your own if you choose physical ecommerce.

Software/Outsourced Software: End User Pebkac Tech Support. <-- google it and run from it like a herd of rabid squirrels.

Service: Fiverr, Freelance etc. Arghghg. Why pain yourself with both the agony of business ownership AND a job? Just get a job and "outsource" the pita to some crazy business owner.

      Another point:
Never EVER tie your business or revenue streams to another company. Don't depend on Adsense or free search engine traffic or auction sites or Affiliate programs. EVER

Always work every business into some sort of self reliance, meaning...gather leads (list building), steer Auction sales to your ecommerce site and keep them as your own forever.

Lists and Retained Customers are a long term asset that nobody can take away.

So take your income requirements and a method that is ideal for you. Lock it in. Become a sponge and learn everything you can about that method. Then set a big long term vision with small milestone chunks/tasks to get there.

Once you're on your way, lock it in and put blinders on - don't get distracted. Trust your decision.

Hope that at least gets ya some stuff to think about while researching.

      Good Luck!

In the last couple of weeks there have been 2 threads asking for people who earn $10k/month to share some advice.

You could accomplish your goal by taking less than half of the good advice in those conversations.

Seriously, though. Look them up. There is a lot of good information there. The challenge, of course, is weeding through the crap to get to the good stuff.

well first of all understand there is no click button formula , you will have to work your ass off nothing is easy , I personally drive paid traffic to affiliate offers and also do list building and lead generation .. right now i am working to buy some offline businesses in Dubai however all i`d say is that its more about taking risks and being consistent. One thing i`d advise you is to choose one business model and work on it till you succeed and also dont look at others ,yes to sell a product i could post pictures about my "Baller" Lifestyle but believe me there are good and bad days both just take it like a real business and also dont look at others , what they do what they make etc etc choose your own path dont follow some one just because you have seen him making money and you know about his baller lifestyle but do what you know and do what you can do best here is something i want to share with you

      Best of luck !!

Simple but awesome! Why don't they have posters like that hanging in schools?

Related to the post...it takes work. Day in, day out. Even when you don't feel like it. Even when the sun is shining and it would be much better to be outside all day. Don't get me wrong, reward yourself, but work.

There is a simple truth in internet marketing that it seems to take most people forever to figure out. Here it is... Anyone who makes over $50,000 a year doing this is not ever going to tell you how. Don't get me wrong, if people seem like they are motivated and they are good people I will coach them, but I do not, nor does anyone else ever tell anyone the exact methods they use.

I tell everyone I coach that they will get years of knowledge quickly and I will share offers, or niches etc. but that in no way will I ever just tell them exactly what to do with targeting etc. If you ever come into contact with anyone who tells you that they will show you an exact model I can GUARANTEE that it does not work anymore.

Someone would have to offer me TONS of money for me to specifically show them my entire business model because it would effectively cut my profits in half.

I'll add to what Clix said... anyone that's making 50K+ in IM doesn't have TIME to teach you for free. Despite what a lot of people will try and tell you...IM is freaking hard work. It takes time and patience and yes you're going to be working your butt off for pennies in the beginning...theres no way around it, theres no magic tricks, its hard work + luck...that's it.

If you really want to learn profitable strategies there's more than enough people out there to learn from... Empire flippers, Pat Flynn, Niche Pursuits, Copy Blogger... pick one and do some work...eventually you'll figure out your own plan to get to your goal.

Not sure how much I agree with that. IM done right is EASY work, isn't that the whole point? The problem is that if you are going to coach someone then it is only worth it if they succeed, and most people don't succeed. A good coach can give you all the tools and all the methods but like in any business, sport or other area of life there is no substitute for pure talent. You get it or you don't.

A successful IMer has plenty of time, but why not spend that time on the boat or with family? Prove to me that you are going to earn and in turn earn me money for referring you to the great offers and traffic sources, or prove to me that my 5% referral rate is going to turn into long term passive income for me and I'll make time.

I promise I meant no disrespect, I just think if people have a mindset that it has to be hard work they might not find the easiest ways to do things. I see so many people here banging their head against the wall working so hard for peanuts and it doesn't have to be that way.

$50K per year is a chicken food for most of the people that I know in my business.

What I do is simple - I just collect high quality leads and receive big payment. You get paid £30-£35 per lead and you can easily deliver 50-60+ leads per day.

My main and only traffic source is PPC (Adwords and Bing).

Any questions, just let me know!

Get a mentor man and he will give you direction. FOCUS on 1 source of traffic, ONE method of monetizing that traffic and master it. Focus on providing extreme value and you've made it!

Well i would like to say a little about free traffic , though its free traffic but still you will have to invest time and effort and oh yeah at start it wont be enough to buy you bread and butter and pay your bills , so still you will need an alternative income source to start off ... Traffic will be free but hosting , and other things will still require budget

I can gladly say i make much more than 50k /year but what i had to go through to reach these numbers is another story , I started with empty pockets , All money i had was spent in buying internet connection i was in Pakistan that time mind you , No money for domain , No money for hosting , No money for ads or anything , Started working as a freelancer to support my parents, Jumped into affiliate marketing still no money as all money i was earning was spent to support my parents who were both admitted into hospital , Started off with yahoo answers using bitly and posting affiliate offer links with answers on yahoo answers site , made $50 dollars first month (spent days and nights posting and working as freelancer). Bought a domain and hosting , drived traffic to site (Gift Card For Survey | It's time to shop for free! ) using yahoo answers , made more profits , hired VAs from Philippines to post more answers 10 cents per answer which sticks for 24 hours more profits and this way made budget for paid traffic, people still say and they used to say that time as well YAHOO ANSWER doesn't work ... But it did worked for me and i know it still works i still got that site and i still get traffic to it from yahoo answers after4 years .....

Yes free traffic is free but you will have to work your ass off to get high traffic volume...

You will if you use Yahoo Answers... Or you could put up a Facebook Fan Page about a trending topic, link it to a Twitter account etc. and get an audience 20 or 30 thousand strong to market to in a week, all by working maybe ten minutes a day.

I never said it's easy, you have to be good, it's just not hard work. Not everyone can do it because not everyone is smart or savvy enough. I was only using that as one example.

Honest question, if IM is such hard work, why don't you get a job? IM, done right is easy, the entire point of passive income is that it puts you into a position where you don't have to work. Sounds more like you have a job than you are an IMer.

You're about 90% of the way there if you just stick with
"doing it" for 3 years or more and focus on doing one thing
    and getting good at it.

I've made that kind of money in a few different ways and
I've seen many people go from modest incomes or no incomes
to incomes greater than your goal using a variety of different methods.

I've seen the most selling services to brick and mortar
businesses but then you'd expect that since I teach it.

When you're starting out you meet other marketers at
functions and online and you see them grow.

The people who start making real incomes have usually worked
really hard to build their skills and their business in one area.

They're not jumping on the latest idea of the week.

    Kindest regards,
    Andrew Cavanagh

You can make that kind of money many different ways. Create your own products, Adsense, Affiliate Marketing, etc, etc. There isn't one "best" way to make it happen, you can make it happen dozens of different ways.

The main thing is to create a REAL business and treat it like a REAL business.

The answer to all your questions is that you have to study internet marketing, which is a complex system. There are no simple answers.

You have a lot to learn if you want to make some money online. If you want a sustainable business, then you must learn a lot more. You have to work hard and you also have to invest money. There are many risks.

    Hi Kenmo

There is lots of different ways to earn money online buddy, but I believe it all stems from your passion, firstly discover what excites you and what motivates you deep down! then try to develop a business within that chosen topic.

Reason being is it will just help you to excel in all that you do

So firstly think about what it is you want to do in life, and this could be your hobbies, interests, passions, something your good at doing, and then try to create a sustainable, long lasting business in that chosen area, topic or subject, instead of trying to chase the money or the next shiny object, because money will always come if you are providing massive value in your chosen marketplace. It is a by product of providing a Quality Service.

So my recommendation would be to firstly try and establish what it is you are good at teaching, sharing or passionate about, and then just do that

Because it's all good and well having the intention to make money, but unless you get clear on what it is your going to do in order to Earn it! and make the appropriate plans to achieve it! then you are always going to be chasing your own tail and never really seeing any results.

So my advice would be to find something that resonates with you personally, and then find someone who is making money or a living in that area or chosen subject, and make them your mentor! So learn all you can from them and then create the best product or service you can in that marketplace.

Hope this helps and really that is as honest as it gets, I am not trying to offend but it can really save you some time on your journey and maybe some money.

There is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme, or push button software that will make you an overnight millionaire, because if there was I would be using it, and anybody who tells you any different is lying.

There are however certainly methods that can allow you to earn money quickly! but its all about setting up the right foundations for it and to facilitate, And that my friend will resultably come from you and from within.

Please take a second to thank me if you thought that this was useful, and please check out my WSO if you thought this helped.

Kindle is hot right now. I started last year and have published over 100 books this year alone and built a passive income of 9k+/mo from those books. I also make money blogging, affiliate marketing, my own product, coaching, etc... but Kindle has been the easiest and fastest, by far.

Why don't you start with something proven to make money like Kindle publishing ?
The key to success is to have many forms of income coming in from different areas of your business.

    1.)Affiliate campaigns
    2.)Product creation
    3.)Offline clients
    4.)Email marketing
    5.)social media marketing
    6.)kindle publishing
    7.)Membership sites
    8.)etc

Then the KEY is setting up a funnel that they all coincide !

Get really good at traffic and conversions.

Find a hungry market and put enough products in front of them to buy that you find one that a lot of them will buy.

    Then scale up.

Start as an affiliate so you don't have to wait for your own product to be created. Or just decide to only be an affiliate and never create a product ever.

FOCUS: Only buy something if it's going to help you get better at whatever you decide to do or if its a tool that will help speed up the process.

You've spent way too long "researching", now it's time to implement.

$50K per year is a good place to start. But don't stop there. It's only $4K per month.
