Are multiple accounts at social sites ok?

I'm wondering if it's ok to set up more than one account at places like Digg, Propeller, Reddit, etc..?

I'm asking because if you are promoting more than one niche and want to use a different id in general (pen name, etc.) it would make sense to have a separate account for each niche you promote at the social bookmarking sites. However, I wouldn't want to get banned?

Does anyone know if setting up multiple accounts is feasible?

I'm not sure about Digg, Propeller or Reddit, but I do know that it's against Facebook's terms of service to have more than one account.

I've seen plenty of people go ahead and have more than one account on Facebook, though.

From what I've ready, you're supposed to use Facebook Pages or Fans for your individual businesses, while the main account is set up in your legal name.

But, again, that's a bit controversial since some folks might be running some aspects of their businesses under pen names, or they have very different niches and don't want them to cross.

  • It's a very common practice. There are no rules against it. You are either spamming or you are not. If you are not then you are organizing. If you hit your bookmarks from the same IP address the admins on the other end might catch on. But so what? If you are not spamming, then why would anyone have a problem with it?

Thanks for your replies, but has anyone done this for their different niches?
