How Long Does It Take?

Hello,
So I just created my new wordpress site using Hostgator. After seeing everyone's recommendations, I decided not to use blogspot for this site, and instead I'm using hostgator.

I have created my website, and when I purchased my package, I also purchased my domain w/ the package. I then went on to installing wordpress. My question is, how long does it take before I can access the actual site and start editing.

When I try to go to the url now, it is shown as not connecting, but I am guessing that is just because the domain has not connected to the site yet. Is it like I wait a few days, and then I can go to my domain and access wordpress from there?

I would wait 24 hours, Some domain companies are very strict nowadays
and have to do several checks when it comes to selling domains due to the
amount of frauds that has taken place online in recent times.

Have you checked to see if the domain is registered yet? You can check for it here: Domain Name Lookup, Domain Whois | DomainTools

Also, make sure that the nameservers are actually pointed to HostGator's - they should have emailed them to you when you signed up. After that it can take 24-48 hours.

Give it a few hours yet. While your waiting go and write some content! Hit me up with a PM and I'll send you some content for About Us, Contact Us and Privacy Policy if you need it of course.

Ok, thank you for your help. Tomorrow was an off day for me, and I was planning on doing some setting up, but I guess that probably won't happen now... should have made the site last night like I was originally going too.

Oh well, thank you for your help, I'll check the website periodically, and in the mean time continue reading everything I can about building a new site.
