Does Anyone Here Use DigitalOcean Cloud Hosting as an Alternative To Amazon AWS?

Digital Ocean is not a "cloud" host - they use local storage. It's nothing more than regular VPS's with fancy names "droplet".....

EDIT: Also, AWS is only "cloud" is you're using redundancy - if you're not, an instance is nothing more than a VPS pretty much as well..

Well, that is somewhat accurate, however they now use SSD, with a highly configurable software UI, most of it is CLI, it is irritating because of the Geek factor involved in using the product, but if you have the time to put into configuring an image, for $5.00 you will not find a better SSD deal, (security is an issue because of the BYOB, type service)

There is no support, now there are a lot of good people over there that will help you, but you have to put the time and effort into learning how to use CLI and there is a serious learning curve if you have never played around with Linux and its attendant LAMP setup

I play around with it, but AWS is by far superior in terms of images and security, of course that will cost you.

Basically you get what you pay for, its like repairing a car, you can take it to the local mechanic who will charge you $75 to $150.00 per hour to fix it or you can do it your self and save a ton of money the only downside is that you have to have the knowledge to use the systems or be willing to put the time into learning it.

I'm using DigitalOcean for two VPS' and I really like the performance.

ME: work in the USA, but My Nationality is Viet Nam

ME: I have not vietnam passport , Because, To get into the USA, just need show the Green card ( =permanent resident card) okey?

Support : You can't get a USA resident alien card without a passport from your native country. If you are traveling for work, you should have a passport AND a USA visa allowing you to work. We will be unable to verify you without a real passport.

Let me tell you, when I came to the usa in 2003 with VIET NAM passport.
then 2007 i received a usa resident card
2008 my vietnam passport expired i threw it away
but i still kept my Viet Nam ID card, so that i can apply for a new vietnam passport.
but due to my tight scedule, I don't have time to apply for a new one.
Every year, I used my resident card to travel between vietnam and usa with out trouble
if you don't believe me please check with us Immigration department
do you know the importance of usa resident card?
i'm very disappointed in your professionalism
therefore i'm not going to use your service.

Require to show Id card, then visa to get into the usa, then passport
If they want to stop register, why they require to show my ID Card?
I thing they collect ID Card for sale on the internet

i use digital ocean but through a programmer who sell hosting. digital hosting is awesome. very cheap and reliable. you can choose hourly rate or monthly rate. the only thing is that its best if you are a programmer or have someone to put you through. thats what am using for my site: finderscashflow
