If you had to choose one thing to focus on what would it be?

If your goal was to make $50-$100 per day as a start to get out of your shitty full time job, where would you begin?

Not after 'get rich quick schemes' - more just an idea of where people would start so I can think about which ones would be best for me.

To give a bit of background I have read A LOT of info on the forums but find it was information overload and I don't really know where to start.

I have a business where I import high heels and on sell them through my website (which is not at all optimized for SEO - and is one of the things I need to do ASAP - any tips there are appreciated, I can give you the site if requested - not sure If I can post links here or not).

I also have started a blog in the health / fitness area - partly for my own personal interest and partly because I am doing a personal training course next year so I will be attempting to get clients through there).

Both 'businesses' have facebook pages and twitter accounts.

I am wanting to ultimately create a reasonably passive income or system where I can do the work and then do a bit of promotion and either let it do its own thing or if its going well put some more effort into it.

A bit of an unfocused question so ultimately I am wanting to know where you would start if you were wanting to ditch the job and earn enough to cover living expenses $50-$100 per day would be fine to start with!

Note I first joined in 2009 and have done jack all since as I was doing my degree and post grad while working full time. Now I need to do this for my sanity!

If you see potential in your high heels business, I would focus on doing/researching PPC.

For anyone starting in IM I'd recommend selling using PPC.

Selling through PPC is a very good idea but it is more important to create good quality product which will create trust among the consumers and will increase the demand of your product.

        Targeting a group
Sort out the problems they face
Provide the solutions within your product

        There you go....

          Mooloo,

Obviously, you need to focus on getting your business going, but I think it's impossible to be a successful owner by just focusing on one thing. In fact, the most successful online business owners I know are masters at executing a hundred small details every day on a consistent basis.

If you choose to focus on just one thing you'll neglect all the other things that being a business owner requires.

Once your business is up and running and making money, you can then pick and choose to spend extra time on things like getting more traffic, creating new products, crafting better offers, etc. But you can never do just one thing - you need to be a juggler and balance a lot of things at the same time.

          The very best to you,

          Steve

  • If I wanted to make $100/day to quit my job I would invest my time in:

    1. Developing local leads for local businesses using Pay Per Click.
    2. Developing websites with income potential and selling them; no cookie cutter website flipping.

I totally agree with Steve. To be successful online you need to be executing several steps on a consistent basis. If you use paid traffic you may get quick results. However if you use free traffic methods then you'll have to patient.

  • Reading through the forums can be a overwhelming but I agree with Steve that if you want to be successful, you shouldn't just focus on one thing.

What you can do to make things easier is to list down the different marketing and business strategies that you want to implement. Those that make sense to you and your businesses. Check out your competition and see what they're doing to understand what makes their business tick.

Once you understand what you need to do, implement, test and refine. It looks simple but it's not that easy. Testing and refining your IM strategy takes a lot of trial and error. And onc eyou get it right, upscale and outsource the process.
