If it is the 30 minute wait you are commenting on, that's actually quite fast for them now! Just one of the reasons so many people seem to be looking for viable alternatives.

I've never had to wait 30 minutes. Ever. The maximum was 23.

But still, the support is very, very sluggish, since they work on multiple customers at the same time. That's alright in most cases, but it seems as if HG is trying to skimp on costs by making one dude handle more than he can.

It's sad. I kinda regret my decision to go with HG. Sometimes.

This problem doesn't sound familiar to me. I have used their support a couple of times and I usually can get a hold of somebody in about 10 minutes (or even under).

The support has always been quite good for me.

In my opinion, it's still good. They offer live, 24 hour support, period. Many companies don't do this. You'd have to submit a support ticket that might be answered the following day.

The quality of support has diminished.

Not sure what's caused it, probably some type of centralized helpdesk.

They are also eliminating their email support too.

They are still my favorite though. Nothing but tough love. :]

Have you needed to use support so often that you can make a generalized statement like this? I've needed support twice in 3 years and I have 15 sites hosted through them. - Just asking.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Last two time, I had to wait 48+ hours for their response through email. I believe, due to some reason their support reputation is going down.

Hostgator service has always been above par.

Tried to get someone from their tech department
If it was not sad I would laugh...
Most Hostgator plans are around $10.00 per month. Do you suppose for that you should have a service rep at your beck and call? Try setting up your own server and hiring an IT geek for $10 per month.

They even spent the time, money and effort to let you know how long the average wait is. So you could decide whether to wait or try again later.

30 minutes is very reasonable during peak hours, and as mentioned, if you are that impatient and must use chat, do it in an off hour. Certainly you can submit an e-mail, or move onto something else while you are waiting.

How about having your power shut off during a winter storm an having to wait days to have it restored, and in the meantime all you get from customer service is a recorded message, because they won't even accept your call... now that's an example of inconvenient service. 30 minutes? Go have a coffee.

If you are stating that hostgator has poor service. I ask this question; "Compared to what?"

Depends what time of day you call I suspect.
Although most reps aren't even in the US, their time schedules are linked to America I think, so occasionally they all slow down.
I've had the same thing from Hostgator, and yeah, it can be infuriating...

Yeah, the quality of support is now near zero. Waiting 30 minutes is a joke on us. Like, why do we put up with it any way. I keep getting letters that tell me they are moving servers. This should be transparent to me. However, I have to go in and make changes again and again. Frankly, I am fed up. Oh wow, HG is one of the worst providers ever. I do not think that I can even call em a web hosting service. What we need are more companies jumping in. Basically, I do not mind paying a little more. That said, we want a reliable service.

I needed support from them a few weeks ago.

I just put the support chat box in the task bar and did other things for the 23 minutes. I even forgot it was there until I heard the little "Bing" then I brought it up and had my problem solved.

I guess if I just sat and stared at the chat box until someone answered it would seem a lot longer
