Sell PLR or create a branded product?

Hey guys, I'd like a public opinion on something...
Since I've got what needed to be done on my other ventures, I'd like to dip my feet in the water and try something new (more specifically, test it's feasibility, and see if it's better than what I'm doing currently).

I am a certified personal trainer and bodybuilder by recreation, and a full time computer science/cognitive science university student by occupation. Thus I think the perfect options for me are to:

a. Create a fitness PLR product to sell here on the WF via a WSO.
I would create a series of videos, spreadsheets, articles, you name it. All top quality and filled with high res pictures

b. Create my own product
Now this Should be the obvious answer- However I don't have enough resources to seek JVs or affiliates. It would be my first time creating a product as well so I have no track record to prove it's quality.

What would you do, and Why? Think of this like an IM exercise. Something that will not only stimulate your IM-thinking-ability, but also help a fellow Warrior follow a smart path

I can only talk from a Private Label Rights perspective. Since I haven't had any interest in launching my own product, I can't really comment on that.

    From a PLR perspective
I think there would definitely be a market for what you mentioned. Health and Fitness is an incredibly popular market in PLR content.

There are various reasons why I think that your PLR package would do well (assuming you go the PLR route). For starters, any PLR package that focuses on both the written content aspect, and the design/visual aspect, already stands out from the majority of PLR content packages out there.

    Knowledge and Experience
PLR content buyers would most likely be very comfortable/confident using your content, because they know it was created by someone who has knowledge/experience in the area.

    Videos
The fact that your package has PLR videos should already make your PLR package stand out. Most health and fitness PLR content packs tends to be written based, like PLR articles or reports.

Furthermore, the majority of PLR videos that I have seen, are slide based videos. And, those that aren't slide based, tend to be either Internet Marketing or Personal Development related videos.

There's probably a huge demand for health and fitness related videos that are instructional/how-to videos were there's an actual person in front of the camera, demonstrating or explaining the concept.

    Pictures
Having high quality pictures as part of the PLR package is a definite plus. Most health and fitness PLR content packs only focus on the written content. So, having high quality images will make your package stand out.

    Supporting Material Included
You mentioned that you'd include spreadsheets, articles etc... Your package seems closer to a business-in-a-box type PLR package than the normal/standard PLR report, eBook or PLR Article pack.

Most of the Business-in-a-box type PLR packages that I've seen, are either Business related, Internet Marketing related or Personal Development related. There's probably a lot of buyers of health and fitness PLR content, that would be excited to see a Fitness PLR package like yours.

So, from a PLR perspective, I think your package would do pretty well.

creating your own product is more work than most people think. but if you go down that route, you can always add a plr product as a give away or tie in to your existing product.

I think creating your own product is better than selling it as PLR.
IMO, by selling as your own product, you'll get a list of buyer. You can use that list for future products (if you create more). But in other side, selling PLR also give you a list of internet marketer.
It depends on which list do you need for future plan.

The only issue with creating my own product is getting eyes to see the sales page.

There is an option where it's possible to have both... although, I've only seen this done this internet marketing related info products.

Basically, the product creator sells the product directly to the market the product is targeted at. Then, after a period of time, they sell Private Label Rights to their product.

I suppose you'd treat this the same way you'd treat any product launch or affiliate campaign... by finding a traffic strategy that works for you.

Sure, there's a lot of users and buyers of PLR content on the Warrior Forum. But, if you do create a PLR product, do you only plan on relying on Warrior Forum traffic? It may not be as easy to get PLR related traffic outside of the forum.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the market for PLR content is a lot smaller than the Fitness market. So, getting fitness related traffic might not be as difficult as you think.
