which domain name is better???

Hello,

I have a new idea I'm working on. It's a Canadian real estate house listings website.

Which domain name is better:

Housetopia (.ca)
Housezilla (.ca)
Nicemove (.ca)
Canadahouselistings (.ca)

So far these are the 3 that I'm narrowing my brand down to. Which would you use? Or would you just keep searching and find something else entirely?

well I was kinda thinking of Housezilla. Then I'd have a Godzilla like character as the mascot. He'd be stepping on houses and also eating them. j/k

This is like 19 year old gamer mentality. If I'm a serious buyer or seller
of real estate who's in the market today why would I be impressed by your
mascot stepping on, or eating, the house I'm interested in buying or
        selling?

Why would a character who stomps or eats houses be at all interesting
to me as a consumer in this market? You have to sell into the mentality
        of your target market.

        Go with the other suggestions...

Out of those I'd say the last one. Having a keyword in the domain name is very helpful for SEO. Also, having a more specific domain name will drive more targeted traffic, like [city name]housesforsale dot com. The more you narrow down the domain to a specific audience the more targeted the traffic you'll get which equals better results.

You should go for Canadahouselistings because it contains your keyword also so it will get ranked easily

I could be wrong, but my thinking is that a name like housezilla might backfire on you. That assumes that your intended market is potential home buyers. In that market you to build trust with the prospect which the Godzilla reference might not engender.

Depends on your marketing of course.

If instead you are marketing to sales professionals, just reverse everything I just said.

The last one is great. Good for SEO and establish brand. People know you business right away. If you have specific location name would be great (if you target to specific location), followed by your keyword.

The last one. Like the other warriors said, it's good for SEO and because the location (Canada) is in your domain name.

Always pick the one that contains your keyword. Also it might not be a good idea to give us the domain names. If I was to do the same project as you, you just did my homework

    Good luck with your project!

Housetopia if you are making a brand.
Canadahouselistings if there is enough searches for that term.

Housetopia sounds very catchy. Canadahouselistings is more basic and straightforeward but the key words within the domain give it more relevance. I like them both.

Long term branding plans? - Then always think about its sounding... as in radio or on phone.

What I mean: if I hear it on the radio (in an ad or otherwsie) or somebody gets excited and tells me about it during a phone conversation - is it easy to get it or needs complicated spelling?

      Housetopia is catchy and brandable.
      Canadahouselistings is very straight forward.

It depends on where you want to take this business and the marketing. I think Housetopia would be a great brand to umbrella Canadahouselistings.

Housetopia and Housezilla are both premium. I would get a dot com domain name. Typically, people will forget the extension that they are using. However, they do remember the domain name. All the best to you.

Lots of good advice. You do have to think long term. The BEST domain (besides the actual generic domain like housing.ca or houses.ca) would be your actual business name. If that biz name is not though up yet then think about youe name and how it sounds and is spelled. This will be the way people remember you. Think how it will look like on business cards, letters, banners etc.

Play around more with keywords that you want to be ranked for and see if those are available. Also if your budget calls for it look for more generic domains out there on the aftermarket.

I agree with the other Warriors, CanadaHouseListings will defo reap dividends on the SEO, but just don't go overboard (like we used to back in the day!) on the keywords. If you have the domain, and you use it in your title and on your page, that will be a good start.

I have been penalized for exact domain matches on Google in the last year or so, but have seen exact match domains do really well recently (if they follow the rules).

    Good luck! :-)

The others I personally am not a fan of.

I like Housetopia from a branding perspective. You could have a lot of fun with that.

But Canadahouselistings wins from an SEO perspective.

If I was doing it myself I would buy both and make Housetopia the main site, with information and additional resources (more than just house listings) and then use Canadahouselistings specifically for the house listings with banners and links etc back to Housetopia.

You could easily integrate the two seamlessly and then you would be able to build the main brand with Housetopia and a nice sub-brand with Canadahouselistings.

    Just my thoughts.

Canadahouselistings.ca ... it's easy to remember and more professional. Be careful when selecting a logo for your business. I would not select Godzilla as a mascot unless you want to "scare" away some of your potential clients. Be real clear about who your target market is and consider how THEY will perceive your logo/mascot. Think long-term.

I like NiceMove.ca. It is highly brandable. There is no value any longer to keyword or EMD domains. Google changed the algo to remove the artificial preference it had for EMDs quite some time ago.

Canadian real estate is a big market! Take 2 domains; use Canadahouselistings (.ca) to market and develop your brand on one of these domains: NiceMove.ca, Housetopia (.ca) and, or Housezilla (.ca)
