[BLUEPRINT] How I Made an Easy $255.00 in 3 Days...

Objective:

To see if I could create any sort of quick income from a COLD list of less than 1,000 "freebie seekers".

Description:

The steps I took in an attempt to see if one could REALLY make some quick cash if all they had was a tiny (<1,000) list. Of course, I also spell out my results and take-aways.
What Happened?

Last week I did kind of an experiment that I witnessed a buddy of mine, Jamison Palmer do and I was curious about his results.

I emailed him and asked him how it did but I got impatient about waiting for him to respond.

I just decided "screw it... I've got my own email lists so I am just going to try it myself" and that's what I did.

This whole campaign took about 3 days to run it's course and below are the case study notes so you can take them for what you will and possibly implement (and replicate) this campaign and it's results.

We all know there are variables such as how responsive your list is and such. My lists are pretty responsive (see "Total Engagement Trifecta" post for an idea on how to keep your list responsive).

I also didn't use any of my "buyer" lists for this. I stuck to my "freebie leads" who requested free stuff and got on my lists somehow.

But again, they're NOT "Syndicate Subscribers" OR any of my PAID SERVICE customers.

This kept the list size for this campaign to ~800 people which is cool because one of the ideas I wanted to explore is whether or not one could REALLY make any money out of a SMALL list of "freebie leads" - the type of list 99.9% of my "newbie" students have.

So anyway, here we go...

First off, here was the offer...

It was a video about a case study Geoff Shaw did on the types of campaigns he used to make about 40 grand within a month's time.

He took it off the market... but I made arrangements to keep selling it. Me and only me.

Now for the campaign I used to promote that offer (and the campaign THIS case study focuses on)...

I went into my GetResponse account and created my segment for this. Again ~800 or so "freebie leads".

I then sent them this email:

Email 1:


SUBJECT: CASE STUDY: 47K in 4 Weeks?

BODY:

Hey,

Short and sweet... my buddy Geoff Shaw created a case study around 6 months ago about how he made a bit over $47,000.00 in a month - without a list or anything.

He SOLD thousands of copies of this as a WSO but he has pulled it (and all his other IM products) off the market - because he makes more money "just doing it rather than teaching it".

Frankly, I can relate to that.

Lucky for you though, certain circumstances have presented themselves and I am in a rare and exclusive position to let you get access to this "$47,000 video" because you're on my list.

Stats...

• 784 Emails successfully SENT
• 172 "opens" for an "open rate" of ~22%
• 24 "Replies" for more information. That's a conversion rate of ~13.5%

Why did this email work the way it did?

I believe this email WORKED. 13.5% conversion (action) rate isn't at all bad. 22% open rate can be debated. But all in all, I feel that this email worked. I designed it to work using SCARCITY (a)The offer is "off the market" and (b) The ONLY opportunity is to get it NOW - only through ME.

So, what happened to those 24 people who replied to my little email, asking for more information?

They were REMOVED from that list and ADDED to a list of HOT leads (who asked for more info - 24 people in this case).

Once that happened, they got THIS email (containing what they asked for)...


Email 2:

SUBJECT: [Name] It's Ben. Here's Your Information...

BODY: Hi [Name]

Ben here.

Great to hear from you. I am so excited to be able to share this special "47K" video with you. I've been using this method for some time now and it flat out WORKS.

I used to think launching WSOs was where it's at in terms of getting fast traffic and cash - but screw that.

WSOs got nothing on this!

And, unlike WSOs, this works in ANY MARKET - not just MMO. We can all thank Geoff Shaw for letting me do this - otherwise nobody would get to see this video.

Stats...

• 24 Emails successfully SENT
• 23 "opens" for an "open rate" of ~98%
• 20 "clicks" to the offer. That's a click-thru rate of ~81%
• Of those 20 click throughs? 11 sales. YAY!

How the hell did THAT work?

Nothing is wrong with my stats. The "open rates" and "click through rates" may seem to defy what we know as reality.

But... not really.

Ya' gotta remember... these people PERSONALLY REPLIED to the first email and ASKED for more information!

They didn't "opt-in" somewhere or whatever.

Remember... I asked them to WRITE me.

So, those 24 people were "beyond-red-hot-TARGETED".

ALL of them were eagerly WAITING to hear from me.

THAT'S also why that offer page converted at ~61%. The traffic was screaming hot and laser targeted.

That's why those 2 emails, starting with ~800 leads resulted in $187.00 in sales - and 11 of those "freebie leads" being converted into BUYERS and added to my BUYER lists.

NOTE: $17.00 offer. $17.00 x 11 = $187.00

We're not QUITE done yet. I wanted to milk this for all I could. So, I decided to do it again.

This time though, I took the SAME list of 784 people and REMOVED those who replied to the first email (24 people) and this left me with 760 people.

I sent those 760 people (we can also call them "un-opens") this email...


Email 3:

SUBJECT: In All Honesty... DON'T Do This...

BODY:

Hi,

Ben here. It's not that we don't want you to be successful. It's just that, for the past year or so Geoff Shaw and I have been doing this method (not together but separately) to quite frankly, "profit like it's 1999 again".

Geoff released a WSO about this method some time ago but PULLED IT from the market after he sold hundreds because this is just too good to share and let be abused.

So here's the scoop....

I already emailed you once because Geoff is allowing ONLY ME to release this method again - on a very limited basis - and I did.

Some of you already requested more info about this and if you're one of them please ignore this as you should have received the information already.

Everyone else...

This is a CASE STUDY about how Geoff Shaw used this very method to make 47K in 4 weeks.

• 14 "Replies" for more information. That's a conversion rate of ~11%

Why did this email work the way it did?

Again, I believe this email WORKED though the stats weren't as good as the first one. That's cool though. I figured they wouldn't be.

11% conversion (action) rate isn't at all bad. Again, 17% open rate can be debated. But all in all, I feel that this email worked. After all, we learned on the first go round that stats don't need to be earth shattering because the traffic going to the landing page is so damn TARGETED!

I designed this email to work like the first one... using SCARCITY (a)The offer is "off the market" and (b) The ONLY opportunity is to get it NOW - only through ME.

Like the first time, those 14 people who wrote in for more info were MOVED to their own list and I wound up with 14 "leads" in this case.

I sent them the SAME email I sent the 24 respondents the first time (email #2)...

Stats...

• 14 Emails successfully SENT
• 14 "opens" for an "open rate" of 100%
• 11 "clicks" to the offer. That's a click-thru rate of ~80%
• Of those 11 click through? 4 sales. (~3.6% conversion rate)

Again, nothing is wrong with my stats. The "open rates" and "click through rates" may seem to defy what we know as reality.

We now know from our first run that the stats this email generates are WILD because the traffic is so damn HOT.

Now, this small campaign is DONE.


Here's what he have...

• Took 3 days to run
• Started with LESS than 800 leads
• Generated 15 sales (11 the "first time" and 4 the "second time"). This netted me $255.00

Not too shabby for a few days work (probably a few HOURS) if we're counting it that way since it only took me a few moments each day).

Didn't cost me anything either - since I already had the list.

And in the end...

I made 255 Bucks - and converted 15 BUYERS from whom I'll profit again and again.

The BIG Question: Will I do it again?

Answer: Sure. Not a bad way to spend some spare time.

The Other BIG Question: Can YOU do this?

Answer: Sure, so long as you've got AT LEAST a small list. Since it works with a small list, it's "newbie friendly".

    One thing though. If you were truly the only one allowed to offer that product for sale at the time, how do you expect others to replicate this?

    I see two options. One could seek out someone with which to make an exclusive deal. However, with a small list, like you are suggesting one would do this with, I find it hard to imagine anyone giving someone exclusivity.

    The second option would be to BS your list about exclusivity. Not a good option in my opinion.

    I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm genuinely curious what you suggest those who want to try to replicate this should do about having an exclusive offer, as that seems to be crucial to the results that you got.

      It's about the OFFER really and how one can apply scarcity to it.

      I had 2 things....

      1. A product
      2. The unique angle of being the only guy allowed to sell it.

      I exploited that angle in this campaign.

      All you need is an ANGLE to make it work.

      Find a way to give yourself an angle to exploit by thinking outside the box.

      One thing though. If you were truly the only one allowed to offer that product for sale at the time, how do you expect others to replicate this?
