INTERNET MARKETING

So my next door neighbor is an Internet Programmer / Entrepreneur / Marketer / etc.... and he owns a travel website for Dominican Republic holidays where he is a reseller for a major travel site... The lucky bast*rd has a domain very similar to the official website of the Dominican Republic, apparently, the guys behind the official site, purchased apparently a massive advertising deal in CNN.com and other news websites.

My neighbor's site crashed and he went on to check his statistics cpanel and saw there was a massive wave of traffic coming from cnn.com so he checked all over the sites, refreshing for ads and using proxy servers to see other countries ads... he wanted to see where that trafic was coming from obviously..

Can You believe the ad's URL is misconfigured and my friend is getting all the traffic to his website? (yes, this is happening right now) Its been just 4 days and he's made well over $120,000 in commissions. His server crashed since day 1 so He rented 5 more servers to withstand the traffic and is making a Killing! Im happy for him but I envy that guy soooooo much!

Just wanted to share and recall the IMPORTANCE of domain typos and related domains. This is unbelievable! it's like winning the lottery I guess..

  Well,this is a white mistake.It does happen that even a single letter or punctuation are mispelled.It turns out to be on the other pages.

Thats surely lucky ...I guess this was truly a gift of God as this doesn't seem to come so easily in ones hand...the person must have done a lot of good work for others and all those are coming back... I would like to have such luck too

It's still going on today!!!! Maybe it'll be weeks before they notice...

I don't see how he could get sued for someone else's mistake. He could countersue saying all that traffic made him upgrade his servers. lol.

  A couple of weeks ago I was chillen with John Reese and we got word that President Obama was announcing a new website called Income.gov.
  
  Someone had said that Obama had slipped up and said Income.com.
  
  Obviously, John and I were glued to the computer watching Obama's speech and eagerly waiting for the slip-up.
  
  Sadly it never happened. But hot damn, that would of been a great clip to edit had he of said the .com instead of the .gov.

I would think you have a better chance winning the lottery and immediatly getting struck by lightning upon leaving the building than this happening to someone with these results.

Does anyone remember what happened when the announcement came out that Google bought youtube? Same thing... some poor site called utube was flooded and had no clue what was going on

This guy wasn't lucky. He set himself up to be in the right place at the right time. Not only did he take the steps to register the domain, but he then followed up on that action by creating an appropriately relevant website. So he positioned himself well for someone else's flub
