OptimizePress 2.0 + ???

Greetings! This is my first post on WarriorForum, so please bear with me. I've spent the last two days doing a lot of online research, but there's still a ton of stuff that I don't know - unknown unknowns, so to speak.

I'm currently looking at launching a business, through which I will deliver educational/instructional videos to members/customers, along with an ebook. I would prefer that both be viewed through the site itself, and that neither can be downloaded. I may drip content.

I think I've determined that OptimizePress 2.0 will serve my needs well, as it seems to have a strong endorsement from the community here, and I'm not sufficiently well-versed in this business to really get out and experiment with newer products (yet).

My question:
I know that there are some membership specific plugins (e.g. DAP, which seems to have the community's strongest endorsement among the lot), but I also realize that OptimizePress 2.0 has membership capabilities as well.
Is it safe to assume that OptimizePress 2.0's membership capabilities will keep Google from indexing the pages, such that they can be accessed without a membership?
Is there anything wrong with starting with OptimizePress 2.0's membership aspects, and then moving to DAP (or another) if they are insufficient? Am I endangering my content in any way if I do that?

Money's tight, and I would obviously like to minimize the plugins I need to buy to get started and validate, though I may add to my plugin purchases at a later date. That said, I don't want to compromise my product or my site in any way. Further, my hope is that whatever I do now won't need to be completely redone later due to poor decisions. It would seem that mistakes could get fairly expensive, very fast, in this business.

At a later date, I'm planning to add an interactive forum, and things like that. But for now, I'm trying primarily to get to the validation stage and confirm that people want and will pay for the product I've made.

Thanks!

Tom

PS: Forgive me if my replies are delayed a day or two. Traveling this weekend, but wanted to go ahead and make the post with the hope that I might have some replies when I get back. I greatly appreciate any input you can offer!

i have optimizepress and i remember watching one of their tutorials on their membership plugin on access to certain products based on membership level. you can set the membership level based on what they have purchased and prevent access from upper membership levels.

im pretty sure you have options to prevent your content being indexed buy google but if not all in one seo (free) for sure will do the trick

You bring up a great question as I use optimize press from time to time but have not used it in terms of the membership aspect. One thing I always did to assure that the content on my paid aspects was to place and install another wordpress under a name I would choose either on site or off site. However if you modify your robots text and block the robots from accessing certain sections of your site like you members area the spiders can not crawl your site for those pages.

The way i always did it though was either through a sub directory blocking all spiders and crawlers for that directory so no pages would get indexed at all for it. It is the easiest way really but does take a little extra time to get everything all set up the way you want it. You can have your main set of pages on your home page nd or blog then add your members area to a sub directory or directory. Wordpress is a quick install so adding two variations wont hurt things much especially since your blocking all spiders at the other any how. Then once you have both with word press its just a matter of setting up your site properly. There are a few plugins out there that will block people from accessing your sites members content like member mogul a recent membership plug in offered through the wso section. It is a great tool for that so you can set and forget and not have to worry about it even if the pages do get indexed.

I use OP 2.0 and I use the membership plugin which Jason give for free when you buy. It works great. I have used wishlist member before and it's basically the same set up. I have had any issues at all. Wish list cost me $200 so there is a lot of value in OP 2.0.

As for indexing, I don't think you can stop that but it doesn't matter. Customers who are not signed in get routed to a sign in page and if they didn't pay, they are required to register (pay).

I would suggest OP 2.0 if money is tight. The alternative will offer less features and cost the same or more. GO for it bro!

      Hi,

I think that Wishlist Member is a much more developed plugin with a lot more features and extensions than OptimizePress 2.0 membership plugin.

It is indeed possible to setup a membership site using OP, however,if you are planning to build a big community site, than Wishlist has developed many plugins that are available for purchase separately and that can add a lot of value to the members.

Thank you everyone for all of your input! This has all been tremendously helpful!

Based on all of your input, I think I'll plan to start with OP 2.0 and branch out from there if need be. I may try the dual install of WP, also, but it sounds like a number of people feel pretty safe relying on OP 2.0 alone, so I may go that route for now, for simplicity's sake. As you can all probably tell, I'm pretty new at this, and I'm trying to compensate for that with research (and, of course, trial and error, though I'm trying to minimize my unknown unknowns).

I've read a lot of good things about Wishlist Member as well. Thanks for the input on that, also. I'm hoping to avoid branching into any special membership products at this time, just to keep my costs down. This is kind of a shoestring operation, unfortunately, so I'm hoping that it will support itself pretty quickly. Of course, I expect to be adding features in the future once everything is validated, so I'll hopefully be able to add stronger membership tools, should I find that my delivery methods benefit from them.

I also really appreciate the mention of All In One SEO. Anything free is always helpful, particularly at this stage of my venture.

Is there anything else that any of you think I should consider or be concerned about prior to launching?

Also, does anyone use or recommend the OptimizePress Club? It's hard to find any good information about that on WarriorForum or elsewhere.

Thank you all so very much for your help!

    Tom

How did everything work out with OP2 Member? I'm considering using for my site and wondering if I should keep it on my domain or do a subdomain for the member site? It seems easier to just keep everything in one domain for simplicity. Also has any features been added to optimize member?

I have op2, instabuilder, leadpage.net, digital access pass,

And the one system that beats them all is ClickFunnels,,

Hands down the simplest way to get a membership site up and running quickly.
