Who's had the biggest impact on your life?

Simple Question

Which people have had the biggest impact on you shaping you to be the person you are today? (not including family)

Lets create a list of the most influential and inspirational people in the world so we can all learn from each other.

My top 5 are (in no specific order):

- Tim Ferris - http://www.fourhourblog.com Has a talent of being able to Automate, Systemize and Improve Efficiency in just about anything. Has helped me greatly in building a company that I own, rather than one that owns me. I've read The 4 hour work week about 7 times.

- Steve Pavlina - http://www.stevepavlina.com - The weirdest and most brilliantly minded person I know. A Personal Development teacher that has soo many incredible insights I haven't seen anywhere else.

- Neil Strauss - http://www.neilstrauss.com - Introduced me to *the community* and has a lot of fantastic insights into the world, a big believer that every person in the world should be able to live the life they desire.

- Paul Myers - http://www.talkbizreport.com - Copywriting legend and all round awesome Internet Marketer, has one of the only IM newsletters I look forward to reading each week and teaches many advanced psychology concepts I haven't seen anywhere else in IM.

- The Stompernet Crew - http://www.stomperblog.com/ - I love how these guys actually test every theory they come across only teaching the best bits, rather than just rehashing what others told them. Absolutely the best place to go for SEO info.

The biggest thing I love about these 5? They have all come up with fresh unique ideas I haven't seen anywhere else.

After spending many many years in IM / Personal Development it's rare to find anything unique anymore, it all becomes a copy of a copy of a copy. These 5 have broken that mold and created a lot of information that is very helpful and unique to them.

Who has inspired / moved you and had a massive impact on your life?

Excluding family, this is a difficult question to answer because it is the family influence that drives you to select whom you wish to follow and learn from.

Like most people, I am the result of the disparate influences of thousands of people, many of whom I did not even know.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

My family, my friends and myself.

I respect a lot of other people for their work and contribution to their respective fields. For an example, Frank Kern to IM.

Other than family and friends, my English professor in college and my former boss made a huge impact on my life. I became confident with writing essays and speaking in public. Their encouragement pushed me to strive more because these people knew that I am capable of doing things I couldn't have imagined doing.

A few people. A teacher in grade 8 who believed more than I did; a friend in University; and a boss who did it wrong, which inspired me to learn about business.

Without family being in this thread it is quite difficult to pick who influenced me the most.

I would have to say my manager at my mortgage company because he offered me a job while I was a car salesman and gave me a career. He also introduced me to the world of MLM which has completely changed my life for the better.

Other than that I can't think of anyone else.

Jane Roberts. When I first came across her work, it was truly mind-boggling, inspiring and brought about major changes in the way I saw, approached and did things.

Later, Esther & Jerry Hicks (also devotees of Jane Roberts' work). They have provided insights and detail that built on what I knew and took it to a new level.

Esther and Jerry also have the advantage of modern technology (DVDs, CDs, MP3s, etc) to make it easier to get a better understanding of their work.

Unfortunately, many gurus from centuries past were faced with the cultural bias that required them to communicate to listeners in a way that could be understood and appreciated by the audience in the context of that particular time and culture. This meant that, even if the guru had an amazing understanding of the material, the message had to be tailored for that particular audience and is often unclear or ambiguous to a modern reader.

I suspect that the Abraham-Hicks material presents in a modern context what those early gurus would LIKE to have said. It certainly provides a clarity often missing in earlier texts.

Here are some of the people who have influenced me the most...

    1. Jay Abraham - Greatly affected my outlook on marketing
and business building. Too many valuable lessons to mention.

    2. Robert Middleton - Showed my how to market a service
effectively by giving away valuable information.

    3. Stephen R Covey - Taught me the habits of highly effective
people - especially being proactive and seeking first to
    understand.

    4. Ken McCarthy - Taught me how to market on the Internet
    effectively and in a low-key, non-hype way.

    5. Terry Dean - Lifted the veil on what's really going on in the
Internet Marketing guru arena and what to focus on in an Internet
business to maximize results and lifestyle.
