So, if I want to skip the BS and go straight to the source...

What if it makes more sense to me to go out and find my own places to write for? I mean, it seems to me that these requesters on iWriter are having no problem finding work that needs outsourced?

How do I also do that? I still enjoy writing for them, but WOW people are super unspecific sometimes, which is retarted to me if they are the ones being so specific about how GREAT the article be, they sure are pretty general!

(Example: Write an article about steet clothing) Well, I am sure they are looking for something specific, right? So how do I know where they want me to go with this?

I just don't want to risk being rejected for submitting the wrong content, and most requesters are [I]terrible[I] at responding to a message!

Thanks guys!

I think too many people have something specific in mind but do not take the time to give those details. They just submit something general and then expect to get exactly what they want. I would make sure you clarify as you can before you start any project. I guess that is the best you can do.

I totally understand your problem. I have tried writing for iWriter, but I can't stand the clients. They make very general article requests, like your example, and then wonder why they didn't get exactly what they want. The other problem I see is clients want a "beginning" level writer (the cheapest to hire) with at least 50 reviews and 100% feedback. Then they want to pay $2 for 1,000 words.

It's really a bum deal for writers.

The best thing you can do is set up your own site and start marketing your writing servies directly to those who need it. Yes, it's easier said then done, but at least you will have more control and get a good fee for your writing.

Another option is Elance. But you kind of run into the same problem where clients have unrealistic expectations. However, after getting a few low-paying projects under your belt and stellar feedback, you can go after the bigger fish. There are clients on elance that will pay well for good writing. Much more so than iWriter.

Hope this helps a little. Sorry for the rambling post.

UGH! Thank you! I thought I was the only one. I haven't tried yet, because I am still within my 30 very important ratings, but it seems the ones paying decent (when you start out anyway), are the ones you are being way too vague!! Threaten to give me one star? You ASS! LOL....You're the one who didn't specify!! Grrr...

    Thanks guys

Iwriter is such sort of thing.
    Don't lose your hope.
Just concentrate on what you are doing.
You will always meet different sorts of people every where.
I have seen myself how people behave on iwriter or odesk.

Sure, you can get writing assignments directly and you can get paid much better.

    You can go through
Wanted - Members Looking To Hire You and see whether somebody needs a writer.

Or you can place an ad in
    Warriors For Hire
    or Warrior Forum Classified Ads
    and get your own customers.

    Another thing you can do:

Go to press release sites (PRNewswire, Businesswire, SBWire etc.) and look through the press releases. You will find that many press releases are not
    written very good.

You can contact the company (every press release has contact information) and offer press release writing services. Pays way better than iwriter for sure but takes some work to build up your client roaster.

Bingo! Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who gets pissy when you ask them to be more specific about what they want, and they ignore you like you are the dumb one!

Of course it's usually them, and not you! lol.... We are the one's getting paid 2 bucks to write an article, even though we have 5 star ratings lol.

      Silly outsources :p

I can imagine being a writer must be a right pain in the backside at times. I use iWriter a lot and I've always been very specific.

This got me some very good writers and I added them to my favourites for each niche.

Now when I submit an article I just ask for my writer in that niche give my keyword and my instructions are simply usual style. Works a treat.

  • I do 100% of my writing directly for clients rather than going through iWriter or any other third party. You can make FAR more money, and it is actually a lot easier once you get going.

I highly recommend it. If you have any questions about specifically how to do it, shoot me a PM and I'm happy to help.
