Tackling a massive niche with a shoestring budget.

I am the worst niche picker in the whole goddamn world. I promise you, I've wasted my time on not only small niches, but those small niches were also highly unprofitable ones. Jesus. Not that it cost me much, but still.

Finally I found a massive niche that I can actually see myself being devoted to full time in order to make a living. But my budget right now, is around 50 bucks maybe 100 bucks a month, any thoughts on tackling a massive 30k+ daily searches niche head on with a budget like that?

Plus the main income would have to be sponsored ads, adsense and some cpa. Should I instead attack one of the "side niches" of this main niche, that has around 10-20k monthly searches, build up some content in these and then move content from all of those to a main site under the main niche? Trying to plan a bit ahead.

Definitely can be done, but it will take more time to get ranked. I think there is nothing wrong with going after a larger niche. You just have to create a longer term plan for promotion and link development, but the profits can me much higher in the end.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Yeah hopefully I will only need to maintain that one site, after the work is done, to get a decent monthly income. The thing is, after I while I probably won't have to go out of my way to find content either, seeing as the current competition's system is horrible. For those who are willing to provide content.

I figure if I can make it easier, faster, and still manage to maintain a high quality, as well as giving it all when it comes to promotion, I have a good chance at taking their place in a year or two.

You can still exist (and eventually profit) in a massive niche, but you may have to be content with settling for crumbs when starting out. By that, I mean the longtail searches that have little competition. As you build your business, you may find yourself in the position to move up the food chain, so to speak.

This is my stategy and people still tell I'm crazy for tackling such an ultra-competitive niche; but after a lot of hard work, I'm starting to see results - finally. Once you do get some decent traffic flowing, you'll be much better off than the guy sitting in a low competition, low traffic niche.

My advice is to not be afraid to tackle large niches. There is always room for one more and the activity (read traffic) can be overwhelming and exhilarating once you get some momentum going.

Lessons I've learned? Don't take shortcuts, don't skimp on quality content, devote adequate time to getting backlinks, and over deliver to your visitors/signups.

For many niches it is not at all hard to get a blog on page 1. of Google
with vigorous daily posting and promotion. If you can write you can
do it. Costs very little to do but takes time.

I was thinking more of an outside contributors site, I'm absolutely positive that there are people interested in giving away their content to me for free (that will most often be unique online) if I can just get it going. For no other reason than have people read their work. After a while I can probably throw in a "must be no other copies online" policy as well.
