Taking quick action without over-analyzing = Results

This post is towards newcomers or those who get stuck over-analyzing things with no serious action.

I would have preferred to make this as a detailed real case study by providing links and screenshots and stats etc. but it would seem as a self-promotion so I filtered that parts out of my post. Besides, it is the idea that is important, not the exact details. This is nothing new or groundbreaking but the focus of my post is the importance of taking quick action without over-analyzing things as it is the only way you will get real results.

Most of the times, information overload and over-analyzing prevents us from taking action and making money. Especially when you are new to the world of Internet Marketing. I was a victim of that myself for a very long time when I first started. The more I stopped learning (without application) the more I quit over-analyzing things, I was able to take more action and see results. I am still not at a point where I am totally happy about taking quick action but I am working towards there.

This is about how I took quick action to promote a product and made money. I will list all actions I took step by step to make it easier to follow. You can apply the same concept in any niche you are targeting. This is not rocket science.

So, a couple of days ago, I was checking the upcoming IM product launches on a website. The first one I saw grabbed my attention which was launching that day. I checked its sales page and noticed it was a high quality product.

1. I contacted the seller and asked for a review copy.
2. Installed the product and tested it myself and I liked it.
3. Since I liked the product, I decided to promote it to my list and applied as an affiliate on the network the product was listed.
4. Wrote a review about it on my website about two hours before the launch time.
5. Quickly prepared a bonus to include in my promotion.
6. Sent an email to my list at the launch time about the product, giving a link to my review and also providing the info how to get my bonus.
6. Sent another email the next day to those who did not open the first email.
7. The product converted well, I didn't make huge money but I was happy with the result. So I thought I could sell more if I could reach more people other than my list and decided to advertise on this forum for one day.
8. Prepared and uploaded a simple banner. It was approved the next day.
9. Paid for the banner and it went live. During the time it was live, it generated more money than the banner price and some recurring purchases which will likely bring more money in months to come.

Now, when I look back I know that there are things that I could have done differently/better and made more money in promoting this product. But I also could have get stuck with over-analyzing things without taking any action and making no money. This taking quick action did not only made me money but also gave me valuable lessons which I will use in my next promotion to take quicker action and to make even more money.

In summary, you should stop over-analyzing and you should not be afraid of taking quick action. The more you take action, the more you will start to understand what will work and what will not.

I wish you an actionful week

Thanks I needed that! I need to be doing more of this, and stop thinking too much about everything that can go wrong before I give it a chance to succeed.

I've finally shifted my focus from that of a buyer to that of a seller. It took a while, believe me. I found myself on the same hamster wheel as so many others. Buy a product with the intention of putting it to great use. But then, before you sit down to learn how to use it, you're back in your email and getting sucked in to the next thing. It's a vicious cycle.

Then, I would convince myself I'm finally going to get that business going only to feel frustrated and confused.

Things changed for me when I decided I couldn't figure out everything on my own by going it alone. I got a coach to hold me accountable and things have made a drastic turnaround ever since.

It really is amazing what can happen when you do those two words many people are afraid of -- "take action." It really does work.

Definitely. I wasted so much time, months and years trying to make things perfect and trying to think everything about a project before putting it into action. There were countless times that I spent so much time thinking and planning a project that at the end I lost my desire to take action upon it. Things will go wrong, we will make mistakes but only by taking action (quick action actually) we can proceed.

I just edited the part I said "the forum" to "this forum". I thought when I said "the forum" it was obvious I meant WarriorForum.

I feel you. Buying things, buying lots of things is not wrong. Not putting them in action is wrong. When you take enough action in one direction even the smallest idea can generate great results.

    Well done Nail.

Yep, the missing ingredient for most in this industry is action.

Take imperfect action each day and you'll always be further than you were yesterday.

That's part of the attraction of business for me...rolling with the changes, so to speak. Sometimes the end result only slightly resembles the original plan.

If everything always worked exactly as planned, I would be bored silly.

    I think there are two kinds of people - those who suffer from butterfly's and those who thrive on them. (;

Definitely, action is the key. Do some analyzing, brainstorming and a bit of planning, and then take the plunge.

Once you get yourself in the mindset of an action taker, then you can take the time to "over-analyze" as it serves it's purpose in getting you to think when you've got a problem before you.

Yes, take action. Move forward one step at a time. You don't have to get everything perfect, just get it started. You can improve everything as you go. That does not mean you sell a rubbish product, you just get it as good as you can and add some extras and improvements along the way. Tweak the website, use tracking, I use AdTrakz Gold, and EasyClick 404 error redirect software. AdTrakz Gold tells me what pages visitors are coming from and what links they click. EasyClick 404 tells me what pages are not being found, what links are wrong, what bots have visited my site and I can see what attempts where made to hack Worpress. Taking action is great but do take action to check what action is taking place on your websites.

Excellent post, Nail. Thank you for sharing your process.

    I'm a chronic over-thinker/perfectionist, but I'm in recovery !

Even though I've been a member of WF for a long time, this is my first post! So a perfect example of thinking too much before just jumping in.

One principle that I've been trying to follow is: "Imperfect Action is Always Better than Perfect Inaction."

Just reminding myself of this concept has helped tremendously in productivity. Still battling my need to over-analyze, but I'm definitely much better.

    Thanks again for the post!

Great concept Will. Even if taking imperfect action takes us only one step further, that will be a nice point to be at tomorrow.

Yes, analyzing and planning is a must. But when it is done overly, it becomes an obstacle in front of you. Finding a balance between planning and taking action is a sweet spot.

David, that is a concept I am using heavily during my product development process. I am constantly coming up with more and better ideas as I am building the product but I am not trying to implement them all. I am taking notes and leaving them to a later update or version so that I can finish my product within the planned time frame.

Definitely. A person once said, "Perfection will leave you broke" and that is very right.

Always be taking action. Even if it's bad you'll learn from it..or go bust.

Thanks! This is really a good output- nothing new here but the way you laid out the problem and taking simple actions in an organized, timeline manner makes us realized that we are missing a lot of potential and opportunity by missing out simple things like these. This is really very motivational Thanks again
