Affiliate vs. Ecommerce

3 weeks into my adventure and the drinking from the fire house is going well. Initially had my head set on an ecommerce store but it seems to me most of the folks on the WF are affiliate marketers which makes me feel like I may be barking up the wrong tree there.

Also is it bad idea to have blended strategies i.e. a blog that sells Amazon and Clickbank products?

Thanks and please delete if this is a too frequently asked question. I am searching the forum exhaustively.

Affiliate marketing is easy to get started. You don't have any delivery or customer service to deal with. All you have to do (in theory) is drive people to the sales page. Of course there's much more to it then that to be successful, but It's what I suggest to newbies.

Thanks Brent. When you say affiliate are you basically say Clickbank type products versus for example tangible products from Amazon or MarkHealth? Seems most on the WF prefer Clickbank type products. Thanks for fielding a noob question.

eCommerce is a great avenue to go down - if that's what you like more. There's even a sub-forum here dedicated to selling physical goods, whether that be by dropshipping or shipping yourself.

As for your Amazon and Clickbank question: It's a great idea, providing that every product you promote provides value to your target market/subscribers/readers.

Don't feel discouraged because you see the majority selling information products. eCommerce sites selling the right product to the right people will always be alive and kicking.

I'm not sure I would want to blend Clickbank with Amazon, although some may. I have blended physical products with Amazon products. Woocommerce allows you to use an affiliate url, or sell a physical or digital product all from the same theme, so it blends well.

Thanks Taniwha and Sbucciarel..... I may jump in with one of the WSO's to wet my feet and go from there. Seems the hardest part is starting!

That is always the hardest part. Start with something small just to get some action going, some experience. When buying WSOs, don't make the mistake of buying into hyped up sales letters with big income promises. They are almost certain to disappoint. If the WSO has multiple pages of people commenting, ignore everything on the first page and start reading the rest. The first page reviews tend not to be as "sincere" as what follows. They most likely have been given a review copy and haven't really had time to actually implement a strategy.

A lot of great WSOs for software, graphics, templates, themes, etc. Those are the ones I concentrate on. It's rare to lose on those.

Thanks sbucciarel - I assumed that's the case with the WSO's, I have been following a social media based one that looks like there might be a little potential. Not expecting to change the world, but would like to try something.

Rewrite short and long descriptions and touch upon a diversity of keywords.
