I heard it is impossible to make money as a newbie. Is that true or not?

Please help...

Of course it's not. Everyone here was new to internet marketing once. A newbie may struggle in the beginning, but that's to be expected. But by no means is it impossible to make money online as a newbie.

Hey, you've got to start somewhere. Every Warrior Forum member who's made money was a newbie once.

As a newbie, I made money by offering writing services. Many Internet marketers started out by offering services such as web content writing, graphic design, web development, etc. Some of them have already ventured into affiliate marketing, product creation, etc. (I'm just getting my feet wet with product creation.)

  • If you've ever seen 21 Jump Street, there is a quote "You'll never know what you can't achieve until you don't achieve it!"

If you don't take action and continue getting back up after obstacles and failures, success will never find you. Every time you make a mistake, look at it like a learning experience of "How Not to Make Money."

It sounds cliche but really having a positive attitude and constant desire to make this thing work, is the only way that it will!

It all depends on what you want to do. Don't try your hand in 20 industries. Pick one thing and dedicate all your attention to that particular field. For example, don't try to build an commerce site, adsense site, amazon site, kindle ebook, fiverr gig, and blog. Pick on thing and then search the forum here to see how to be successful in that one particular area!

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

Don't believe the words of someone who admitted defeat before trying, since that's what most of the newbies do.

If you have the dedication and perseverance to try till you succeed, then no, its not impossible for you to succeed in IM.

Let me tell you something. IM is not easy, and you are not going to make 1000s of dollars with just 1 hour or work, no matter what the WSOs say. At least, you're not going to do that when you're starting out. But, keep at it and you'll definitely make a lot of money with IM.

    Good luck!

Internet Marketing has one of the lowest barriers of entry of any business.

Provided you have an internet connection and a computer, it will cost you 10$ for a domain for a year and 4$ hosting per month so for (48+10) 58$, you can work on a .com domain for a year.

All the info you need is available online, and helpful people are just a forum away.

The rest is work and learning.

Listen. A lot of it has to do with mindset. If you sit there and think it's impossible for a "Newbie" to make money then yes you are right, it is impossible.

I have spent well over $15,000 dollars on my education in Internet Marketing... While some of it was complete rubbish, a lot of it was educational...

I am now a full-time Internet Marketer and I do not care if anyone disagrees with me... The best way to build a long term business is to start straight out of the gate on building your email list...

Yes Yes, peeps may say I got a better way and you know what they just may but if it doesn't involve list building, then trust me it is not a long term solution...

I am no where near being a millionaire, but I am a 6 figure earner and all that came about by building a list, having a nice strong follow up, providing nice relevant content, creating products that is surrounded around what your prospects are having problems with and most importantly and I mean this... Wait for it.... Wait for it.... CARING about "HELPING" other people, instead of thinking about your bottom line...

If all you think about is your bottom line, then you my friend are a SCAM Artist in my book... You're are not the only one that matters....

Help people receive what they want and it will come back to you 10 fold....

You just gotta be willing to learn... You don't necessarily need a Mentor, but if you want to "UP" your game and get there faster, I highly suggest investing in a Mentor... Eric Louviere is the damn man!!!

    It is hard.

    That's a difference ...

If you want to think practical, yes, it is VERY hard but you have a few solutions.

    These are:
    - Practice not for the ROI but for the experience.
    - Find a mentor that can teach you and then you'll not be a newbie anymore.
    - Consider failure as a normal part of the process until you are done.

This applies to everything, not just to IM.

It is impossible for a beginner to do 100 push-ups in a row.

    Or run 5 miles ...

    Yes, it is.

But it's not impossible to do one push-up or run 100 meters ... then 200 ... then 300 ... and in a short or long time, the entire five miles.

So find a mentor. It helps a lot.

I have to disagree with you 100% because you sort of contradicted yourself.... I don't know what kind of mentor you have had... But any Mentor with his weight in GOLD will most definitely teach ROI in his coaching class, not just ROI as an experience... Again look up Eric Louviere here on the Warrior Forum and I promise you will be in good hands...

And there is a DIFFERENCE between a mentor and a coach.

A mentor is a person that achieved practical results and in a friendly, business or non-business manner he teaches you the secrets of the trade.

if you plan to be a successful entrepreneur it's important to learn to form your own opinions, and not just go off of what everyone says.

if I were to say right now, no a beginner cannot make any money, would you take it as truth not even try and go work at Mcdonalds for the rest of your life.

    I hope not

Think logically about something for a second.

Everyone who ever did anything was a beginner at some point or another.

Think of the greatest sports player you know. They had to at some point in their life pick up th ball for the first time.

      Impossible? No. Hard? Very.

Took me quite a few years to start making a decent living online and then because of poor marketing strategies I'm now having to start over. Doesn't take a lot of mistakes to screw up your business. Sometimes just one or two will do it.

I used to think that the whole make money online thing was just a scam and nobody made any money. My own experience taught me that was not true. It can be done. But it's a lot of hard and SMART work. Sometimes I think the smart part is more important than the hard part. Because I worked hard and still went out of business, so to speak.

The learning curve is enormous. The skills required, unless you have the kind of money where you can just hire people to do it all for you, are considerable. Many people simply do not have them nor have the intelligence to learn them. And anybody who says you can be as dumb as a stump and still make money online is flat out lying to you. You need brains, skills, a fantastic work ethic, a great plan, and something to sell that people actually want to buy.

Somewhere on this forum is a thread I wrote many years ago called "The 25 Most Important Things For Your Business" or something like that. I don't know if it's still here. It could be gone with the old forum. But if you can find it, read it. You'll realize how much is really involved in making money online.

So, impossible for a newbie to make money? No, but it's hard as hell, which is why very few of them do.

Hell, even some old timers are finding it very tough these days.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9291541].message }}
  • if you think that way yes it is impossible. Set your mind to something and if you want it b ad enough you will make as much money online

Most people will forever be stuck in averageville because they
    perceive themselves as average.

Most people never obtain the lifestyle they desire because they
don’t think it’s possible for them.

This is why most people procrastinate and waste tons of time...
surfing FB, checking emails, reading blogs and watching people
doing it……….but they don’t do it themselves.... (this part makes me so mad!!!)

It’s very obvious what successful people do.

    Successful people:

    - Reverse engineer successful people

    - Focus on getting targeted traffic

    - Do things right the first time

    - Put a hell lot of passion in their work

However I see most people sit back and just watch from the sidelines and
never give themselves permission to play big because their thoughts
about themselves keep them shackled to being average...

If you don’t believe it’s possible for you, it never will be.

Once I started learning to control my thoughts and correct myself when
I thought negative about myself or doubted myself my future changed.

Start learning now to control how you perceive yourself because it
    will make or break you.

Now in 2014 I earn more. I earn more now, because I learned more.

The more you learn, the more you earn.

Kind of like playing the piano, guitar, learning karate, archery, etc. - The more you practice, the better you become.

Not true. Online offline, it is simply a question of whether someone can find something to offer that others are willing to pay for. The beauty of internet markeitng is that you don't need to create products to put buyer and seller together, an affiliate can often do a better job than the seller in helping users buy proudcts.

So for me this is more about the skills and aptitude someone has already, regardless of the marketplace.

You can be new and (usually with a bit of help from someone
who knows the ropes) make money within a few days.
You can also hack away for years and not make a dime.

I'm not sure what your plea for help is about, except to clarify
a point. Essentially, you are correct. If you do not have
the knowledge and skill, then you are not going to do squat
    when you first start out.

Does someone who has never run before enter a marathon?
Even if they do, would they realistically expect to come in first?

In light of what you have read so far in this thread, and a bit of
common sense, my answer to your question

"I heard it is impossible to make money as a newbie. Is that true or not?"

is another question. What do you think?

Lots of opinions, how about a PLAN. Of ACTION.

Make a buck. In the next 5 days. Here is how.

Contact a few warriors, ones who have posted in your thread. ASK them if you can do a brief interview with them, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, ask them to talk about their IM experience.

You can send them 5 or 6 questions they can answer. You can use Skype to record the interviews.

While you are waiting to do the interviews, get a dropbox account if you don't have one (FREE).

Do the Interviews. Find a fivver transcriber, probably get one to do all the interviews, use open office and then expoet as pdf.

YOU now have your first product to sell. Use your sig file here at WF to advertise your Interviews. Charge a buck,or two.

    Now you've started your LIST.

The way for a newbie to make money is by MAKING MONEY. You can grow and learn as the small amounts come in, keeping the focus on INCOME not on out go, do not spend money on learning...plenty for free to get you started.

Keep in mind, you've got some 700,000 Warriors to help you, and many thousands are in the same boat you are (most rowing rapidly with one oar, going in circles).

CREATE something USEFUL, from other people's experience that other noobs would want to know.
    .
If it takes more than five days to make a buck, you'll probably take a year.

There is NO governor placed on your speed.

Take money making action NOW, and build on RESULTS.

    A "newbie" at what?

There's a lot of generic glop on this thread, bad advice, and even some references to "gurus". But gurus at what? Ask 'em, and they will gladly tell you they are still "newbies" at quite a few things, and downright ignorant about a lot more.

    You're asking the wrong question.

If you come back and say a "newbie at Internet marketing" you're still asking the wrong question. Might as well say you're a "newbie" at life. Google and an email porn spammer are both engaged in aspects of "Internet marketing". Yet, are worlds apart.

The interesting thing is, say you were to take some type action, such as getting a Blogger blog or Facebook group so you and your friends can talk about a video game you like to play. Hmmm. You're not a "newbie" at the video game. You're suddenly no longer a newbie in setting up the blog or group and contacting others to participate. Sign up for Adsense to monetize your blog, or sign up for Amazon/ClickBank/someone else to provide a link to tutorial about the video game you wrote, or someone else did, that you thought was jaw dropping awesome in how it described destroying some Vampire Orc. It's that easy to make some money. Maybe not a whole lot, but that's a way to get started.

The point is, my friend, you are already an expert at some things, can quickly acquire knowledge about others, and will always be a newbie when it comes to most things. Just like everyone else. The difference often lies in what actions you decide to take, or not take.

    .

Few weeks back I joined one of the IM "schools" to see what it was like. Newbies with little knowledge in IM are succeeding over there that's for sure. Course it's the ones that stay focused and actually put in the real work. Probably 90% of the people that try IM give up, don't put in the work and/or jump from one thing to another and try and go after "quick buck" schemes as opposed to building something solid from the ground up.

if you plan to be a successful entrepreneur it's important to learn to form your own opinions, and not just go off of what everyone says.
    Indeed.

I just interviewed Neil Patel (Quicksprout, Kissmetrics, Crazy Egg, Hello Bar) and he said if someone has to ask "how do I get started" then they are not an entrepreneur and probably never will be.

If you think it is possible, then it will be possible. IT ALL STARTS IN THE MIND.
