How to promote my programming tutorial - clickbank next?

Dear forum members,

I joined this forum because of the following scenario:

I create programming tutorials (language is less used than python):

I have a small youtube channel (ca 17 followers)
I have a free and a priced course on udemy. The free course is the first step and the next course directly builds on the first course. On the free one I have about 1k viewers and all reviews are 4 or 5 stars. The other one gets me about 450 dollars/months.
I have a website linking to my youtube and udemy courses set on joomla.
I have a talented graphics designer (photoshop, and video editing) - intermediate knowledge in joomla and wordpress.
I will submit parts of my courses to skillfeed.
If it is justified I would be willing to pay for adds (no idea of the amount?)

Within 6 - 10 months I plan to create the next step which builds on the ones I already created. So far nobody made tutorials on that matter I plan to do in the next months in that language.

On the long run the goal is to get a 2 person full time business out of that.

The problem is: I think that I could get more out of the videos I already created. I plan to mix -mash them up and create a new product out of this.
The strategy should also take into consideration that the next tutorials I plan can be seen as precious because nobody teaches that stuff and nearly anybody using that language needs it.

So I need advice on how to proceed and how to get more sales possibilities.

Thoughts so far for the next sales steps:

Creating a new product with the already existing videos and sell it via amazon (maybe dvd or download?)

Create a new product, put it on the already existing website and sell it via clickbank (never worked with clickbank, but I have a positive impression about it)

Is there also a way to interact between udemy and clickbank which leaves me at least 40% ?

Alright - I guess I gave you a lot of info with which you can work.

I would be really thankful if you could let me know how I could bring this thing further on.

    Hi Tom,

You've already expended considerable effort (I assume) in creating a product for a very limited market.

On the long run the goal is to get a 2 person full time business out of that.
Having a long-term goal, and a plan to get there is good - but a viable plan has to include realistic sales projections. Given your very limited audience, I think that your expectations may be unrealistic.

$450/month is a start, but even if that is a satisfactory full time business for you (I don't know where you live) - it means you would have to double current sales levels to get to the point where you could support one more person.

Maybe all you need is better market penetration - but maybe you need a product that satisfies a much larger market.

The biggest question is actually, are there people looking for this information?

If you have a steady stream of people seeking what you have to offer, it's very possible to market your product to them. You might want to look into PPC costs, and maybe even test the waters with a small offer, driving traffic through adwords.

Don't forget to build up a list while you're doing it! It will give you access to those who wants your stuff and also give you a good idea of how well this could work out.

      Hi guys,
thanks for the answers so far.

Tom: while your point is legitimate, I extremely doubt that this is a problem in this case. It is 2014

NK: yes there is a steady stream, because every year there are millions of students learning that stuff anew. If I take a look at the adsense costs, I would have to pay 2c per unit.

    Here's an idea:
-> Use the videos you have now and create an email course. Add all tutorials in an email follow up and have people sign up to your list to get them. Send out an email every day (automated) with a new video.
-> While you build your new product, actively build your list at the same time. The video tutorials you sent out will build trust and authority.
-> When your product launches in a couple of months, you should have a couple of 1000 susbcribers if you put in the work and effort to build your list. Send out a promo to your list -> Boom, you made at least a couple of hundred sales instantly.

You could add some variations to this but this method will definately work.

    Good luck!

      Jens: thanks for this suggestion.

email list building was in my mind already. But from anything I read on this forum, it should be my prime goal.
Problem of this is: I have alread about 1k students on udemy, but I have no direct access to their email
