INTERNET MARKETING

I have never looked into pings and RSS feeds but the time is now. I just googled "how to do pings" and couldn't get any results that helped me to understand what to do.
I need someone to explain to me in simple terms how to do a ping on my blog. I don't have an RSS feed set up (do I need that for a ping)?

Unless they changed it drastically if you are using WordPress you already have an RSS feed and are Pinging, what is it ping-o-matic I think.

Everytime you make a new blog post go to Ping-o-Matic! and punch in the details. Pinging lets the search engines know there has been an update on your site.

  If you are using Wordpress you don't need to manually do this though do you? Since it is already built in to Wordpress to send pings through pingomatic.
  
  I wonder if there are any consequences if you go in and do it manually if it has already been done automatically?
  
  You can add more into the pinging area in your Wordpress admin area too, I have mine automatically pinging to technorati as well as pingomatic.

  There are: they might "see" you as a splog if you double ping some of those ping sites.
  Keep in mind that the default pingomatic (set in WP) is pinging a lot of other ping sites, too - so be careful when adding additional sites.
  See their list that is all pinged when your WP sends a ping to pingomatic:

Another great pinging service - that is FREE is pingler.com they hit way more sites than pingomatic.com - but both are fine.

  I second the use of Pingler.com, I use it for my Squidoo lenses. I added the ping sites listed at Pingler to all of my blogs so that they ping automatically with each new post.

If you have a wordpress blog the feed is at youdomain.com/blog/feed and just enter it into ping o matic. Better yet put a list of all the pings in your wordpress install to do it automatically.

I have a list with many ping services and when I start a new blog I paste all the links in WPAdmin - Settings - Writing under Update Services.
So when I publish a new post it automatically notifies all the services in the list.
