What type of person does real personal development work?

    I originally happened across it and liked the encouragement it gave me. It far exceeded any encouragement I ever got at school. For once, someone was telling me that I could be anything I wanted to be. No one had ever told me that before and I found it gave me a new effervescence. Ever since then I've devoured every bit of encouragement I could get my hands on.

    So I'm both, in the early stages I found I wanted to get more encouragement but now I crave it because it keeps me up there.

    Why do you ask?

    Well that I believe is something which can change.

    I felt I needed to do something.. What I was doing for myself in the past wasn't making me happy. I was frustrating myself and others...

    So I searched... First it was "Self Help"

    I found many topics that interested me, and began to influence how I thought about everything.

    Second it was "Self Improvement"

    I began writing, found Warrior Forum, and became an active member. It wasn't long before I began helping people here, and sharing what I learned.

    Finally Personal Development

    After some time I seen this topic as whole new thing for me. Near forgetting what I had originally "Signed up for". Instead it later became a lifestyle which I feel naturally engaged in. It do seem funny to me realizing this had only been a year ago.

    For me it's really just my thing. "My personality"

    am i off thinking that many people get into personal development ..either as part of sales training..or through MLM most people get into at least one mlm.

    i actually had started studing marketing and was buying books according to what was refered to in books i was reading ..i prefer audio or video though for personal development ..

    part of why i got into personal development was to try to"fix : things i had been told all my life where wrong with me ...it wasn't until ten years in and i gave up the idea that there was anything that needed to be fixxed..and i started to develop myself . that some changes started .

    my own belief after a long time searching is that we are all born with something we are able to do that is of value..the major problem is our society value a very limited range of things and co-opt you into doing what it thinks is valuable for you to do.

    now.. just what is considered real self development work ..

    my perception is that there is an over focus on increasing the amount of money you make .

    modern society and education has instilled a mindset of do one thing to make as much money as you can ..then buy everything you need ..and the education system purposly under educates real life skills..and over train academic ability.

    and with the sheer terror at making mistakes the education system inflicts.. it becomes hard for people to develop skills without real need or desperation.

    so personally development..real personal development ..is that building of skills that improve a persons quality of life ..or ability to enjoy life ..

    that my definition ..so learning to cook ..or craft anything that can be of value to other people

    I've gotten soaked in by a force of serious gravitational pull and haven't looked back ever since.

    I'm doing it because I need and want to. Nowadays I'm not limited by the stereotyped preconceptions of what needs to be done and when; everything just flows. I flow like a river and enjoy the tiny miracles in life that float my way.

      Like anything once you try it you either do it again or you don't. I am not a real religious person, but I feel good after going to church every week. Kind of like going to a sales rally where Zig Ziglar was the featured speaker. You feel like you could accomplish anything as you leave it.

      I think people feel the same way when they are working on personal development. If you enjoy it you do it because you like it and not because you have to. And if you stick with it you are probably going to see results which makes you want to do it even more.

        Personally I believe it starts with a have to, but quickly turns into a want to. At least for the one's who get the most out of personal development.

        Unless the have to turns into a want to ... most won't do!

          but successful people are at the point they get too

          no one has to quaterback a nfl team..a lot of people want to..only a few get to .

          there are a lot of people who have to do something many don't do ..some realy want to..and some get to

          people excel when they are in positions the feel like the get to do something other dont

          finding your get to is where passion lies ..but the get to has to evolve ..

          oh geeze sorry for the esoteric word play

              i have backed off posting here the last month.. i chime in now and then..but ..internet marketing will not be how i make my money ..

              the business i am looking to get in is growing gourmet mushrooms..then getting me a good sized piece of land and growing a lot of produce

              i will use the internet to keep in connection with customers..but it will not be a internet marketing business ..

              though if i come up with a good model other people can copy with some coaching..there may be a secondary business built from that ..

                Why?So, gourmet mushrooms are trending? My uncle has a farm but no1 wants to tend it(not even me).
