Find something that you're good at or something that you enjoy. Once you do that, you will actually enjoy working hard. Only one who is insane could work hard at something that he completely despises, unless there is some deep meaning or purpose that is fueling the work ethic.

Also, if you're going to work hard, it needs to be consistent. Some people work hard now and then and think that's enough to make a difference. Consistency is very important, especially when you're trying to achieve big goals.

The best way is to learn to be happy when you have nothing, then you're not relying on 'things' for your happiness, and can truly be content and appreciate everything you gain.

Otherwise you'll be USING what you get and depending on it as a crutch to cover your unhappiness when its not there.

you can cut up down ..then cut up a tree into fire would ..with a lot of hard work ..with an axe or saws..and a splitting mault ..

but i will bet you any highly successful person with the desire to cut their own fire would..would opt for using chainsaws and a wood spliter and any other tools they could to get the job done faster and far more effectively ..

    working smarter AND harder

with the chain saw and the log splitter and a little bit of fuel..you can chop up as much wood in a day ..as it would take the guy with and axe and saws and splitting mauls ..weeks to do ..

.most of your ancestors or my ancestors ..not to many generations ago..work hard very hard farming realativly small pieces of land ..by hand and with animals ..

now one farmer in a modern equipment and burried up to his eyeballs in debt..can fam 500 to 100 acres of crop land .

and in the next 10-30 years most all of the jobs people do today will be automated or replacesd by digital computer programs ..a goo 60-90 percent ..

it is easy to get the hard work thing wrong ..

I've worked my ass off and had it result in physical injuries ..and mental issues ..and i have had no work for long periods of time ..

I need to work hard ..in order to stay physically healthy and mentally stable ..but it has to be the kind of work where i am contanly able tp increase my output or get the same output with less effort ..

work hard at using new methods or developing new method to get more done..with less input or at a higher quality for the same input .

the reason the guy who hit the baseball better than almost anyone else will make ten million dollars a year ..and the teacher only make 50k a year ..is the each would really love to only have 15 or fewer students at a time..well the guy hitting the ball is paid to do so in front of 40 plus thousand people in the stand and hundreds of thousand or millions who may be watching on tv or internet ..

Defining your own parameters is key.

Success has customization built in, and though we can all learn from spins of one another's wins, SUCCESS as a singular thingo ports between humans with the viral pizzazz of bird flu flirting with a cell phone.

hard work will not lead you to success unless you do it with passion, logic and for yourself...in the whole history has never been someone getting any kind of result of success working for someone else, yet they think that are working hard! the problem is that they do not do it with logic,

how can u achieve any result if you have been working hard for 40 years as employee?

to be successful you have to follow this:

    education>take action>hard work(for yourself)>never give up on yourself

that's the key for a happy life...and success!

It's equally important to work Smart. There are plenty of people working hard that are far from being wealthy.

Man, not only hard work can make you rich and successful, you need to use your mind (intellect) and show consistency in any field than you will be successful, For example a labor is doing hard work rather than an adviser.... But an adviser can get more than a labor...

Struggle is the meaning of life defeat and victory is in the hand of God, but struggle itself is man's duty and should be his joy

I personally think that there are definite laws or principles of success. Strong work ethic is 1 of those principles but not the only one.

Some others key things (in no particular order)

    - Creativity: think outside the box
    - Empathy: Put yourself in other peoples shoes
    - Having confidence - What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve
    - Having Humility
    - Your philosophy on life
    - The right attitudes
    - Seeing the silver lining in every situation

A lot more.. but just to illustrate that strong work ethic is only 1 of many.

All the hard work in the world doesn't amount to squat, if nobody else is there to appreciate it. From a philosophical vantage point, many are influenced to believe they can 'single-handed-ly' work their way out of poverty... I disagree.

The question; "Best way to success in life?"

Requires a group effort. Naturally, I am assuming the word success being relative to 'financial' success, not overcoming a handicap, or beating cancer...

Thus, the ONLY way to true success in life requires one of two things, if not on most occurrences BOTH of the following:

1.) Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who are willing to share, contribute, accept and build upon your services and/or products by delivering benefit and value.
2.) Leverage... time, money, and resources (including, but not limited to labor, employees, tools, software, etc...) and reach the 'intended' target audience in search of, or most likely going to find great benefit and/or value in your offerings.

Now, what's the difference between a prostitute (male or female)? and respected businessman/ woman?

First off, both are working for money.
Both are providing a service or product.
Both have to put themselves out there, and market their goods.

The difference is one is considered unethical, illegal (in most places) and to some considered an act of moral degradation.

Yet, neither can be successful alone no matter how passionate they are about their trade. There needs to be a demand. There needs to be a fulfillment. There needs to be an exchange. There needs to be a willingness to do, act, and/or perform.... even when you don't want to. There needs to be someone 'outside' yourself that supports whatever it is you are selling or providing.

It doesn't matter what your selling or the services you are providing... YOU are never going to be successful, until you 'put yourself out there' and start taking on orders, and/or crafting an exchange.

People constantly tell people here, if you need money; get a job.

I'm not suggesting money comes easy in IMing, not at all. But, the pursuit, knowing ahead of time that whatever offer or service I decide gto put out there will require others to accept, purchase, share, and give feedback (or even referrals) will only come through effort, hard work, and action.

If you wrote a book, and sold 100,000 copies in 5 years online at a rate of $10 (*That's $1Million Dollars) - Now go to work, get a job... and find success in that, I dare you!

So, in conclusion, success almost always requires a group effort, or a grouped response or action. Reduce down that effort, maximize tools, people, other people, and/or all the above, and when success comes.... it'll come swift!

Working WISE is the key to success. You can put in 100 hours writing letters by hand, but what happens when you discover a computer, write 1 letter, it's a thousand times more legible, and you get what would've taken days done in under 30 minutes?

One person worked hard, the other wise - who is the winner? The one who worked hard, or the one who worked wisely?

Hard work is a side-effect of success, but it alone is not the key ingredient.

Nadimul, what you said may seem like common sense to many people.

Unfortunately, common sense is quite uncommon on the internet.

You have to understand that a lot of people who complain regarding their ability to make money online do not get around to working hard.

Hard work is crucial, but it does not necessarily mean breaking out in a sweat and breaking hard rocks under a hot sun.

However, it means doing the hardest work possible.

    What is the hardest work?

I am not talking about crunching numbers in your head, memorizing complicated formulas and equations, nor working physically.

Those have nothing to do with that.

The hardest work with achieving any kind of success in life is working on your character.

Successful people have different characters from people who fail.

I know this is obvious, but we need to understand what goes on and what informs the difference.

It all boils down to the willingness to change.

That takes a lot of work.

It is very hard to change one's self, as well as one's habits, expectations, and assumptions.

However, if whatever you are doing right now is not producing the results that you would like, then you need to do some hard work.

It all begins with your character.

    How do you do this?

You question your beliefs and assumptions.

A lot of the times, people fail because they believe in all sorts of limiting ideas.

These ideas rob them of their resolve and make them out to be losers in their minds.

In many cases, before they even work on a project, they have already sabotaged themselves and have already come to believe that what they are trying to achieve is impossible.

What do you think will happen if you step up to the line to shoot a basketball thinking that you probably will miss?

    That is right.

    You probably will miss.

It all begins with belief and it takes a lot of work to change that.

And once you make progress on that, there are a lot of other things you need to work on to change your character.

That is the best way for me at least to succeed in life.

Changing your character, that is the hardest work possible.

However, it is also absolutely necessary work.

I personally have seen a correlation between pasion and success. But, the point that is crucial here is: Doing.
There are a lot of people passionate to talk about something, but passion to do something is what will link you with success.
I don't remmeber where it was, there was a self-improvement conference, expressing a sort of formula for success, you know, typical topics.
I remmber how the mood changed when the presenter started asking a simple question:
-What do you feel your room with? What do you have lying around, accumulating and never using? (i.e. what topics do you buy books or magazines on and the likes.)
Long story short, I think passion to be in the midst of doing something is what makes you good at it.
    Plus luck. Obviously.
