Hey fellows,
I often think what does a success mean? Is it the money that people are running after? OR is it that goal, the top that people want to achieve?
We often call a poor person successful when he becomes a wealthy person. It means that success is related to wealth. OR may be we call a success to that goal that a poor person had in his mind and that was to become wealthy. So it means that success is that goal that a person has in mind, it can be anything.

What do you guys think?

it is really personal ..the big wealth with the flash cars is the rat face model of success ..

i live in las vegas and work on the strip and i live by the airport and can see all those private planes haha ..

but there are a hell of a lot of people now who want to homestead or go off grid ..and produce much of their own food ..

so if someone own a small house ..grows most of their own food ..and can easily live under 1000 bucks a month ..because they want to live that way ..

we will destroy the planet if the big flashy uber consumer ..model of success is the only one accepted ..

there are people who play video game professionally and a lot of people who support themselves commenting and playing games for review on you tube ..

it is personal how do you want to live you life..and are you happy with the life you are living

In my opinion, the real meaning of a success would be if someone is happy and satisfied in his

life and also others are also satisfied with him, then he is really a successful person.

But we have really ruined the true meaning of a success and the true image of a successful person.

yeah you are right. Success has its own meaning in general but everyone is using it with its own circumstances.

I think everyone has to define success for themselves. For some people, that means owning their own business and making a good living.

For other people, it may mean filling out a religious devotion or raising a family.

One thing is for sure: we can all be successful at a few things, but certainly not everything.

I wouldn't agree on that because how can waking up early be a success?? That's stupid in my opinion, success is only if you do big things, because big things count only.

Most people have a tendency to wrap the definition of success around their finances. Unfortunately, if they do not have an abundance financially, they may consider themselves "unsuccessful".

Success is not defined solely as wealth!

In one definition, success is "a favorable result", go back through your life to times when your outcomes brought the results you wanted. Start counting. There are certainly many times coming to mind, right? Do you have a roof over your head? Meals to eat? Clothes to wear? Good friends? Some great family? These are all favorable results.

See, we are so much more successful then we are willing to give ourselves credit for. Oftentimes, even with all our great abilities, we have a tendency to downplay our own successes. For whatever reason, we tend to want to compare ourselves to others, and often those others, are people who appear to have something that we may not.

If you honestly go within yourself and evaluate your beliefs and values, I am sure that you will find that you have been extremely successful up to this point in your life. Certainly you would have encountered some failures along the way, but that is what this life's learning journey is all about. It is often our mistakes that turn out to be our greatest teachers!

Do not compare yourself to anyone else. The neighbor who may appear to have it all, may not have a lot of things that you personally value in life. If he has a beautiful home with a four car garage and a brand new vehicle to drive, he may not have a great relationship with his family, or something else that you would hold very high on your success list.

Most importantly, as you evaluate these great successes you have had, be grateful. Gratitude will certainly bring about more success in your life.

Ask those who are not wealthy and they will say: Wealth is success.

Ask those who ARE wealthy and they will say: Peace of mind is a success.

Meaning of success changes at each psychological hierarchy as described by Maslow. When we accomplished basic needs such as food and shelter; being safe and secure seems NEXT success. When we accomplish safe and secure, Being loved and cared seems NEXT success. When we accomplish intimacy, feeding our self-esteem seems NEXT success.

The pure success lies in those who surpass their self-esteem stage and move onto self-actualization. Self-actualization is a stage of mastery. There is no bigger hierarchy than this. People in this stage have nothing to lose, they don't care about others opinions and only do things they love, irrespective of any external influence.

Reaching the self-actualization phase is the real success.

    Thanks

I guess it really depends on how you define success

Success differs on the eye of people,

Poor can be successful many ways compared to Rich people

  • Dunno.

I am kinda broad brush about stuff — washa color slapped all over, kinda panoramic in its evident stoopid.

But I guess others wanna max out on twinklea stars, or how angels might co-exist between heaven an' horizon.

Point is, success is relativer even than when Einstein was at his most intellectually challenged.

Slippin' into the shoesa success demands an idiosyncratic kinda fit.

    Or whose success you got?

I define success as: "Knowing you did your best in striving towards your goals." This is because I feel like a failure when I think I could have done better but I let my fears, negative thinking, or laziness rule me.

I can relate with Maya Angelou's definition of success: "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it."
This happens when I am happy or content with most of the decisions I have made in my life: with people I have chosen to be part of my life; what work or projects I choose to do, and how I live each day-- being productive, grateful and appreciative most of the time VS whining, being negative and not working on something of value.

I feel like any great biography you read is a story of significant success but also a lot of pain and hardship. It's interesting to me that to develop character you must overcome pain and adversity but a lot of people talk about being positive and avoiding the negative. Perhaps being successful is just truly living. Experiencing love and hate, friendship and betrayal, truth and confusion, enlightenment and darkness, flow states and boredom, success and failure, loneliness, happiness, serenity etc..

To spend your life in mundanity, doing the same "boring" things over and over again, never really feeling, never testing your limits, never putting yourself in positions where you challenge yourself and could thus get hurt. Never saying or expression what they truly feel. Never being open enough to truly love or feel the pain of betrayal. Perhaps this is the only failure.
