I thought as it's my birthday today (and I've been in the business for 15 years) I'd Indulge in spreading some hard earned wisdom!

(If the queen has a Birthday message why can't I?)

Don't Be AVERAGE

Being average is never going to get you the lifestyle you want.

To succeed, you need to go above and beyond what others are doing.

I saw a stat that the average Facebook marketer only runs 1 ad per campaign.

The top 10% of Facebook marketers run multiple ads per campaign.

The extra effort of creating a few extra ads make all the difference, don't be average!

The average blogger writes a 500 word article. The top ranking articles on Google are usually over 2000 words.

Neil Patel found that articles over 1200 words generate more leads and more buyers than a similar article of 488 words.

Don't Be Average

Do you know any successful businessmen or women who accepted being average?

Can you imagine Richard Branson being average?

Was Selena Williams happy to be average when she was learning to play tennis on the public courts in Compton?

Was Shawn Carter happy to be average when he grew up in the Projects in Brooklyn?

Who the hell is Shawn Carter?

You may know him as Jay Z.

Love him or hate him, no one has ever said that Elon Musk was average.

Albert Einstein said :

"I am not more gifted than the average human being. If you know anything about history, you would know that is so-what hard times I had in studying and the fact that I do not have a memory like some other people do... I am just more curious than the average person and I will not give up on a problem until I have found the proper solution. This is one of my greatest satisfactions in life-solving problems-and the harder they are, the more satisfaction do I get out of them. Maybe you could consider me a bit more patient in continuing with my problem than is the average human being. Now, if you understand what I have just told you, you see that it is not a matter of being more gifted but a matter of being more curious and maybe more patient until you solve a problem." ― Albert Einstein

We all have a choice, we can do the bare minimum to get by or we can do everything in our power to get what we want.

Are you going to be happy in 5 years time when you are looking back at load of failed projects?

Do you want to be average?

Or do you want to look back at one or two very successful projects?

The easiest thing in the world is to second guess yourself, "this isn't going to work I'll try something else."

Screw that!

If it's worked for someone else, it will work for you. You just need to realise that you need to work at it, you need to look at every aspect and ensure that you get it right.

Lets look at e-commerce as an example.
.
There are thousands of people making money selling stuff from shopify stores.

Therefore there is no reason why anyone shouldn't be able to make money.
Yet everyday I see people saying that they can't make money from a shopify store so they are going to try something else.

Stop being AVERAGE!

Making money online is relatively simple. It's an if this then that (IFTTT) scenario.
You find a product, you place it in front of people who would want to buy the product and then you process the payment.

If you are running ads on Facebook, test multiple ads. Try different images, text and call to actions.

You'll soon find one that resonates with your audience.

If you don't, then it's certain your audience is wrong. So test different audiences.

When you have traffic going from your ad to your sales page, they'll either buy or they won't buy.

If they aren't buying, then test different pages.

If they are buying, then add more offers to the back end.

The average person will run an ad until it gets too expensive to continue and give up.

Don't Be Average! Test your ads until you find a winner then scale it up.

Don't Accept Second Best

I know I keep on saying this, but there are no shortcuts, magic buttons or "ninja" tactics that will help you generate a full time income online.

All there is is dedication, hard work and perseverance.

Screw average.

Did the Romans think to themselves, "this is a nice city we have, we'll stay here and enjoy the good life?"

Did Marco Polo think to himself, "this is a pretty sweet gig I have here in Venice, I think I'll stay here with my friends?"

Want to stop being average?

Then try this.

For the next 4 weeks, refuse to be average, go above and beyond what the average guys do.

Write better content
Test multiple ads
Create a new income stream
Get more subscribers
Post your content on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Reddit and Quora

Do whatever it takes, just don't be average.

Don't accept second best.

In 4 weeks, look back and see what you've achieved.

Be proud of the fact that for 4 weeks you did everything you could to shrug off the mantle of averageness and you were doing more than 90% of the people in this business.

Now go do it!

    To start happy birthday

Average is a bad thing to be or not to be if you have 30 people in a room 29 of them not over weight 1 person 300 pounds over weight the avegerage person in the room is 10 pounds overweight even if no one in the room is actually 10 pounds over weight

Average is something the majority of people below average or on the wrong side of average concern themselves with

You nailed the real message when you almost started out with here is average then here is what the top ten percent do

The best concern themselves with what the best do

Happy birthday and thanks for this message!

I agree with you, we need to be different and more importantly act differently if we want to stand out from the crowd.

    Being average produces average results.

    Happy birthday, Mr. Thompson!
What is the context of average? An average human being on the planet? What's the stat that goes something like...if you have a roof over your head, food to eat, and $1 in your pocket, you're better off than 1/3 or half of the world's population? So just by that reasoning alone, I'd say most of us in here are above average humans on earth.

If Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Ray Dalio, Warren Buffet, and Jack Ma are in a room with me, I'm below average for earned income in that room, but probably above average, physically. I live on a Caribbean island and I'm quite certain I'm well above average for most metrics in this country.

So it directly depends who you're comparing yourself to and what your standards and goals are for yourself.

Great post palmtree. To bad most will miss the point .see in the US I have yet to meet an average family with 1.9 children .

I mean let say it is two children and these so called against being average people only have two children and forty or fififty other places in life they are just average and a thousand places they are below average

Non of that really factors in if they are the best at one or two things or if they are just very good at several related skill sets that that allow them to be among the most productive

You really cannot learn how to be highly productive from any amount of study of average or attempt not to be average .

As the best or those among the best only really concern themselves with what the other best people are doing and that is what they try to beat or match

And that tends to be so far above average

    Happy birthday, M Thompson!
    Enjoyed your post. Good thoughts.
I might add that avoiding being average means facing our fears. That's what stops many. I love the quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that says, "You must do the thing you are afraid to do." Get up and make that presentation, for example (or try out a FB ad). If you mess up, so what? You won't die. Just learn from it and be better next time. Failure is a great teacher. Trying something, learning from it, correcting course, and trying again until you get good at whatever it is, is one of the best ways to avoid being average.

HBD pal. It is true that all successful people were above average in everything they do. Messy was voted the world best footballer because he was more than average on the pitch. The oratory capability of Barrack Obama is way above average. It earned him 8 years stay in the White House. Average people don't do extraordinary things. So, for one to succeed in marketing, they must be prepared to be more than average.

Extrordinary people or those who meet that at the time are usually just extrordinary at one or a small number of related things and most likely averga or below average at 10000 other things

And extrordinary people are so rare there are a small number alive at one time .

Now over and over if you study powerlaws or perato distribution 80/20 rule

You want to aim at being in the top ten percent the top person usually has more productivity or income than if you add the production of everyone who meats average and below

But it is pointless to point this out just look at the economy mist all the gain in the last decade has gone to those in the top 10 percent

We don't have to worry about being average. Nobody is average. The problem is...there is a 50% chance that you are below average. Just a thought.

Humans have a primal need to fit it with their group..which means they have a need to be average...normal. But they also have a need to be seen as exceptional by members of our group.

So we are special..because everyone is slightly different. but we are not the same, even though we all want to be accepted as "like" our peers.

    Humans are funny.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

    Love this quote.

When researching the lives of famous entrepreneurs and business leaders for my book on storytelling, I was fascinated by the fact that almost all were stories of coming to America and being born in America. It tells the story of motivational speaker Bob Mobino and the struggles he faced growing up in a poor single-parent household. Bob recognizes that when his customers and employees see his story, they feel more connected to him and his company than ever before.

At the time, I was hosting a radio show and interviewing a self-made millionaire to find out her secrets. I quickly realized why real estate was so important to them, so I immediately shifted my focus to building wealth. The rich bought 14 income properties, financed their homes and learned about power and leverage.

in the USA the 400 richest billionaire had a combined net worth of about 2.9 trillions dollars .. in 2019 ..so the average was 7.25 billion per billionaire ..

jeff bezon was worth about 124 billion his ex wife about 40 billion .. bill gate a little over 100 billion and elon musk is on the poor side of billionaires with 32b in 2019 .. not today ..

warren buffet is at about 76 billion ..take the 370 billion those 5 have from the 2.9 trillion you get 2.53 trillion left ..the average of the 395 billionairs left is about 6.4 billion .

and mazenzie bezos is like number 14 or 15 on the list ..and the top 15 account for 900 bilion dollar give or take several billion ..which brings the average of the other 385 billionairs below them down to 5.1 billion .

but would give the billionaires in the top 15 with the compined 900 million an average net worth of 60 billion dollars

but the google guys larry ellison and page one has bout 55 billion the other 65 billion .. so out of the 15 top billionairs ..

not one is actually an average billionaire
