What's holding you back?

I remember when I first got started online around 2005 or 2006 I always used to think that if I had some money I'd surely be able to easily multiply it.

Most of my "wins" had nothing to do with how much money I had to put into a business. Sure, I'd put as much as I could into education, but the actual business ventures that made me the most money weren't very expensive to run.

I started my first agency with $100 and a new baby, working out of my bedroom closet. I ran that for years and had amazing clients.

Sure, money is helpful becuase you can try things, but your determination and focus are much more important. Are you 100% focused on making your business work? Are you ready to stop at nothing? Do you have someone you can talk to and ask questions?

You'll be fine. Don't worry about money. Money will come later.

    That is inspiring.
I'm actually starting a new project now and have some doubts if I will be able to do it, there are a lot of technical issues but next stage is promotion and brand development that worring me most of all because the market is already huge and I will need to find my customers

Doubt is the shadow of fear.
Confidence is the reflection of past successes.
Action is the revelation of faith.

You are off to a bad start friend.

Take an hour and look over the graveyard of ideas above. BIG companies investing billions of dollars, and the number one reason for failure you'll find in the graveyard, despite being well funded?

A lack of demand or in other words, they didn't start with CUSTOMERS first, they built it, took teams of time, brought it out and no one wanted it. I strongly suggest you rethink your plan and do a proof of concept first, before they write your tombstone in the graveyard of ideas.

Agree with the comment below, this is really inspiring. I consider myself an entrepreneur, started when I was 16-17 with two small e-shops run by myself but had to leave that in stop since I moved to another country.

I guess something stoping me now is the risk of failure...

What does the market being huge have to do with anything?

If you choose to play in that market, play. Make a plan of action, implement it.

Hint: position yourself differently than your competitors, understand who your ideal client is, reach out to that ideal client(s) where they are most likely to be receptive in the language they prefer (I mean style and such, not English or French).

  • Helping people without expecting anything in return also worked best for me. That reputation opened a lot of doors for me that did help bring in more money.

Just don't end up going around naked screaming this freedom thingy. No, that was actually pretty good given the fact that you are "driven"...

The Internet will collapse to a black hole and the black market will thrive. There you go with the Insider Info of The Month. How are you going to USE THIS INFORMATION. It's even better than a hot tip because teach a man to flip a burger and he'll own the shop. I'm pushing the pedal to the metal to give you a hint that the economy is collapsing and crazy events will take place given the platitude that the economy will spew.

    What's holding me back?

Well, whenever something tries to hold me back the source tends to emerge as my inner critic. If I get held back...it is because of my thought process. Once I figure out why I have been thinking that way I can find a way to solve what is holding me back at that time.

The only thing stopping People from being successful ― and holding them back ― is: Themselves.

That's why it's important (as Jack Canfield and W. Clement Stone teach) ... To take 100% responsibility for your Life ― and your results in Life.

Now that's not the easiest thing to do in the World, however it certainly is (ultimately) liberating and empowering. Why? Because it means you're in control of your success in Business and in Life. Of course, it also means not blaming other People, or circumstances, or problems.

So take 100% responsibility ― face and overcome your fear(s) ― learn from "failure"/mistakes ― and make your goal/dream/vision a reality. Good Luck. : )

    Inspiring.

I think for most people and I do say so myself is the mindset. You want to make money online, but you've been burned so much in the past, that you don't know what to believe.

Once you get your mind and your beliefs in the right direction it's only a matter of time before you start making the money you deserve.

Great point oppyeauome. : ) Sometimes it can be difficult what to believe (etc.) ...

However I think if a Person is determined enough -- and like you said have a good Mindset -- then I think they will eventually be successful. Something I read from Winston Churchill is: "Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." And enthusiasm goes back to the "Reason Why" People are deciding to make money and being Entrepreneurs.

Sometimes simply making money is enough of a motivator -- however it usually means something more "significant" than that.

Anyway, like you said Mindset is important. One I will share is: "I'm 100% in control of my Life and my Business -- and I will do whatever it takes to accomplish my goal(s)."

      Note:
The "Whatever it takes" part is something I learned from Eben Pagan (and he learned it from the book "Think And Grow Rich.")

      HTH.

At some point you have to stop being gullible and think THROUGH your MMO ideas for yourself rather than worrying about whether you can trust someone else.

Also People with huge resources do have leverage when that happens to them.

Don't even need 'huge resources' - just 'some' resources will help you quite a bit. If you have three great ideas and some resources you can hire writers/site builders to get moving quickly on your ideas.

I believe 'workinig online' results in a lot of over-thinking and over-analyzing, especially in new IMers. You do the training/work required to get paid...or you don't. Not that much different from a job in that aspect. You have to trust yourself, your judgement, your knowledge or ability to learn...and for some folks that's frightening.

I'm thinking long and hard on this one, but the answer I've come up is this:

    - frustration
    - fear of judgement/ fear of failure
    - impatience
    - and the the last one is probably, how can I pay my bills with my little side hustle, like I see guys make $1k in a day or whatever and it seems impossible for me

But other than that, the only thing holding me back from "making it" in the online biz world is myself!

Thanks for all the great answers

  • This is just about the question asked in the title.

    "What's holding you back?"

The premise is faulty. It implies that you are trying to move ahead, that you want to move ahead, yet some outside force is preventing you from realizing your potential.

We have all seen this scenario. Two guys get into an argument. They both act like they want to fight, and friends pull them apart. So the two guys act like they are struggling against the people holding them back...because they want to get into a fight so badly...because they have to look macho.

But if their friends weren't there to hold them back, they wouldn't get into a fight anyway. It's the safety of their friends acting like they are holding the two guys apart, that gives them the ability to fake bravery and aggression.

In the same way, "What's holding you back?" is just theater. If all the impediments to success (whatever you could list anyway) were removed, the struggle against them would stop. The foreword momentum would instantly disappear. And now you are just standing there, pushing against nothing. You are not being held back. But you want to be seen as being held back. If the obstacle is removed, you don't run forward because of momentum. You just stop pushing, and you end up just standing there....because moving forward wasn't really what you wanted.

Why? Because if you really wanted to do something, you would just do it. You wouldn't ask anyone's permission. You wouldn't seek approval, you wouldn't wait until conditions were perfect. You would just do it.

And if there were a real obstacle, you would figure out a way to work around it.

So what is really holding us back? Lack of interest in moving forward.

And there is no cure for that.

    Happy Halloween.
