I don't expect attitude (if you mean bad attitude) from a teacher, although they can be that way sometimes. A guru in a sense is a teacher but what he's saying is that they confuse and make people worse off.

People responded to them en masse because as human beings we all know, deep down, the ultimate truths of coexistence as well as inner peace. Many simply seek the easier paths. Many stupidly believe that there is a hidden secret to happiness and success when the most basic truth is that there isn't one, other than a plain and simply love for our fellow man.

I do not admire any of the alleged gurus mentioned in this thread, except for their capacity to market themselves to needy people. After all, I am a marketer and have been for the last twenty years.

I am also, as you are, simply their customer.

Eben Pagan gets on the list. This guy is a genius. I sometimes worry that he's TOO clever.

Brian Tracy is someone I admired a few years back when I was a little younger. Not the biggest fan of his anymore but The Physcology of Achievement program was and still a program I recommend to all.

Tim Ferriss, via his book and then blog, is probably responsible for my most recent big-mindset shift. But maybe he's not really a guru... I still admire his lifestyle.
