Let's say you went on a trip overseas, for a long time, and you don't know when you're coming back. Could even be permanent.

How would you make the most of that time from a spiritual standpoint? How would/do you find yourself?

I don't know if what I'm asking makes sense, because I don't know how to really "describe" what I want to ask, so maybe someone else can help me out with figuring out what I really mean.

But if it makes sense to you somehow, then please feel free to reply with your thoughts. I'm curious.

That question can be said like this "What if I leave something that I would never see again, what should I feel?"

Well from a spiritual standpoint I'm thinking that it would have happened for a reason. That maybe this long trip happened so you could find YOURself for who you really are underneath all of the interactions and relationships you've found yourself in.

I'm thinking that would be a good thing

hmm...If you need help there are actually quite a few courses on this online...not religious but spiritual. They aren't too crazy either :p Promise...I've found them through my search for success and without the intention of spirituality.

      Great question.

Here's a couple things I would definitely do:

      1. Do whatever you can to become clear in your purpose for why you are doing this. The clearer you can become, the more powerful your journey's going to be. That doesn't mean your purpose won't change along the way-it only means that if you can start out by clarifying your purpose in taking the journey before you begin it, you probably stand to gain a lot more from the journey itself.

My advice would be to take a long walk out into a private natural setting, sit down, and just list out as many questions as you have about your life that need answering right now. You might have as many as 50. Then, see if you can narrow it down to just a few-3 or so of the most important ones-and that might be a good place to begin. Once you bring those questions to the forefront of your awareness and know a little bit about why you are going on this journey to begin with, you might find its easier to see the answers you're looking for. It's a crucial step that a lot of people miss.

      2. My second piece of advice would be to bring a journal with you on your trip. Journal every day-just write down your thoughts. It doesn't have to be poetic, or entertaining. It's just a way to get the creative juices flowing, and allow yourself an outlook to process what you're going through in your conscious mind. You might find you get some really solid stuff when you go back and reread what you're written.

Hope that helps, my friend, and have a great trip!

Well one day i took the decision to make a turn around Middle east & Meditteranea... I was planned to travel around different countries but the real goal was to find what i really want to do in my life...I started with one country - i would like to stay 1 month - finally i stayed 2 months...then i moved to an other one but not the one that i had planned and stay 1 month....etc...

Then in fact the more important is not reall the trip, or the countries, but everything around that...I mean you can make 30 years to travel from A to B...When you arrive at B it's fine but you're really become what you are because of your experiences between A and B...That's the real value, the sense or meaning of your life...

Go ahead, you will find yourself with all this experiences during your trip...and it could be as simple as doing things that you never done before...

I think I understand your question...I have recently been of ill from my day job for about 8 weeks it is the first time I have ever been off sick in about 13 years.

And whilst I havent gone travelling off somewhere...I have had a LOT of time to reflect think, to listen to my thoughts, to remember all those things that I am truly passionate about. I have remembered all the things I liked doing growing up, those old hobbies, those books, nature, gardening, I have realised why I am really on this planet.

And whilst that might seem quite deep, I know that before, I wasnt really being true to myself because I had been preconditioned by the society I lived in, changed by my education, relationships, family and friends.

I am excited to have come back to my true path in life and I looking forward to being ME again and experiencing all that I am passionate about and reaching my goals.

    Thanks for letting me share.
    Beth :-)

I guess I'll spend most of the time on the beach, looking at the horizon. Thinking about myself and other stuff.

Well to me my spiritual journey is not dependent upon a place and i wonder how moving to a different place could accelerate or have a profound effect on my spiritual growth.
It will definitely broaden my horizons but will it spiritually transform me i am not so sure.
Though some people travel to india, tibet and other buddhist countries for spiritual growth but i have never done so.

Nathan, so true. I had to go searching, all the way to India, to find out I could call off the search. The God's are laughing!!! Good thread. Thanks.
