What Do You Look for in a Personal Development Program?

Is it a certain mentor? School of thought? Or do you buy anything that comes down the pike?

I've been tempted to impulse buy but know better.

It would be the mentor and the school of thought. I doubt I could follow anything or anyone whose views do not harmonize with my own.

I coudn't agree more. There are some mentors that just don't fit my style, and some school of thoughts that I would never follow.

Yes, buying in to something which resonates with your belief system plays a part.

How about established mentors vs up and coming types?

I look for Personal Development programs where I can apply a strategy immediately to my personal, educational, financial, spiritual or business life.

For me it would depend on the message of the up and coming types. There is a tendency for us to go with the tried and true of course. But sometimes if we are discerning, the up and coming types have some special insights to offer and it would not be prudent to write them off just because they are not fully established yet.

So while the safer bet would of course be established mentors, keeping an eye out for up and coming types is something I would do as well. In fact it is an opportunity since up and coming types can offer more time and attention to you.
