Make a goal. GO for it everyday.

Keep going and going and going and don't stop bettering your life. If you aren't currently happy with the job or career you are in then do something about it. There are so many things that you can do about this situation.

First try to be grateful and positive about where you are. If you have a job, then you are more blessed than millions of people. Millions. If you eat everyday, then you are more blessed than billions. So be extremely grateful that you have work.

But being grateful doesn't have to be satisfied.

I think that you can be grateful but still want more. As long as you don't ever complain about what you already have, It is good and healthy to pursue more

Make goals for yourself.

When you make a goal, be sure to think of a creative way to make you actually remember it each day, or week. You can set an alarm on your phone every week, or you could tape a piece of paper to your bedroom door. My only suggestion with these types of reminders is to be sure that you change it up often. If you get too used to the alarm or sign on your door, then you probably wont pay much attention to it.

After you can remember your goal, you have to do something about it. It doesn't have to be big steps, but at the end of the day, look back and think: "Did I do anything at all today to get me closer toward the goal?" If the answer is no, then you try harder the next day. If the answer is yes, then YOU WILL reach your goal either sooner or later. Go for it everyday!

Excellent post, thanks for writing this!

I find it helps to keep rewriting my goals as I reach some, or as my journey becomes clearer. I post it up on my wall and each day I go for a run/walk and think only about the feeling of achieving those goals while I'm out.

But most of all, like you said, just GO for it!

I have set a goal to earn £30k per year.

I think it should be possible, but I am a total newbie, though I am not giving up easy!

Great start! You will reach the goal as sure as you can think it, focus it and, again, GO for it.

Yes, I am going for the offline market though. It seems the most effective way, in my eyes.

I don't want to take anything away from the OP this is an amazing thread, but making a goal doesn't work for me - instead I:

      1. Create my goal
      2. Surround myself with said goal so I don't forget (I have epiphanies and I tend to forget the meaning of it)

ex. I have it on my desktop, I have it on my cell phone, I have it on my GF cell phone so she reminds me.

Surround yourself, and soon realize you're living it!

Like someone already mentioned, setting goal alone is not enough.

    1. Set definite goals. (Lot of money isn't enough, Generate $15K/month is better)

    2. Create a burning desire to achieve it. (If you just set a goal it is more of dream. But when you have a burning desire to achieve the goal, it is a real goal)

    3. Induce emotion to your goal to create the burning desire. (Example: To win the girl next door you have to prove yourself by attaining your set goal)

    4. Have a definite plan of action to achieve your goal (Nothing is free. You need give something to gain something)

    5. Take immediate action and follow your action plan with tight focus. (Focus, Focus, Focus!!)

    6. If your first plan fails, replace it immediately with a better plan.

    7. Focus and Follow your new plan.

    8. Be persistent util you reach your goal.

Many of us set goals like $30K/month only to see that there is no solid working plan to achieve it. Other times we have goal and an action plan, but fail to focus and start searching in the WSO forum for the "latest secret" of making money online.

    Great thread!

I think it's important to set goals for yourself...and actually follow through on them! There is nothing more fulfilling than when you surpass your own expectations.

I, personally, like to write my goals down (even make a little list) and tape it to my bathroom mirror. That way, as I stand there getting ready for my day I can focus on what I need to do TODAY in order to get myself one step closer to achieving it. And when I see the list again before bed, I'll think about what I've accomplished towards it that day...and how I can improve upon that tomorrow.

Basic advice but it's so important, write down your goal where you'll see it every day. On your computer notepad is barely good enough! Good habits begin by setting goals and pursuing them and it's true in everything. Sometimes we have to be our best friend

Many people set goals that are only related to their business. You should also set life goals and have your business gaols as a submenu of them. After all, what's more important, your life, health or your money?

I quote a friend of mine 'when setting goals, start with your funeral and work backwards'

      Goals should be SMART:

      Specific
      Measurable
      Achievable
      Relevant
      Time-orientated

I've heard this comparison before, setting goals sets up action. Your goals can stare you down every morning and motivate you to be successful. Finding good partnerships is important too
