The science of getting rich

by Piero

This was written by Wallace D. Wattles about a century ago...he made a study of how/why rich people become rich...and reduced it to an exact science. Straightforward and to the point, the language is obviously a bit dated, but the concept is perfectly clear and logically set out.

His book formed the starting point for the very successful "The Secret" industry.

I have this book in Word format. It is copyright expired material.

If anyone wants a copy- PM me here with an email address and I'll send it to you.

Or, you could simply google it and find a downloadable copy- Kindle etc. included.

Justin- emailed a copy to you as requested

Rob- The internet NEVER ceases to amaze me...it is a truly awesome thing in the most literal sense of the word.
(My personal "online addiction" is playing chess....and I would not be able to play the number of games that I play live and/or simultaneously online every day, even if I had a personal supersonic jet at my disposal....LOL, the only practically possible way would be if I could teleport!)
We are able to accomplish almost instantaneously that which took weeks or months (if at all posiible!) not so long ago.....there was no google to browse the content (never mind the titles) of just about every publication past and present.
And you're right- the quality is amazing....sadly, the "noise" of junk has also increased tremendously....still and all- amazing, as you say!

No one wants to answer you because it would take then an hour to explain. You have to read the book to truly understand what "a certain way" means.

Read "Ask and it is given" by Abraham/Hicks. They were the original inspiration for the movie The Secret, and is the best explanation of what the "certain way" is, as well as how to use it.

PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy of Wallace's book. It is not a huge tome that you have to slog through....the book is relatively short and presented in short, succinct chapters with absolutely no fluff.

        Read it- you'll understand immediately.

Specifically- read chapter 8 (Thinking in the certain way). And read him quite literally! He does not speak in metaphor....this is as close to a "paint-by-numbers" recipe as you'll find anywhere.

As an idea- make step-by-step notes of his method as you read...this may also help to clarify it for you'

        Best wishes,

        Piero
ps- If you can come to an understanding and insight based on your own study and contemplation, the information will be "real" to you and once grasped, you will never again forget it!

I read the book "The Science of getting rich" twice about a year ago and I loved the book. I highly recommend this book.

The author mentioned that thinking and acting in a Certain Way will bring prosperity to you. It is this positive thought and the unfailing faith that you have that will move mountains and will cause the universe and God to bring you the riches that you so much desire. But one thing is sure, one must not just think only. You need to take action, if not, it will just be wishful thinking.

When you act, you must take action in a non-competitve manner and to give to others more in use value than what they gave to you in cash value. Your attitude in giving to others is important and must come from a sincere heart. You must always be grateful and thankful to the creator of the universe thanking Him in advance for the good and bountiful things that are coming your way soon ...

I read the book two years ago. Because I wanted to really imprint it on my mind, I also hand-copied it into a journal then highlighted it. Around the same time, I created a list of how I was going to apply it in my life and the things I wanted to achieve. Of course, life got hectic and the journal ended up in the bottom of a drawer. I found it a month or so ago and when I re-read my list, I got goosebumps because every one of the things I had listed had happened, even though my attention had been elsewhere.

      Lori,

That's an amazing story- thanks for sharing. It was wonderful reading your post.

Wallace says in his book (Chapter8, page 21) "You do not need to pray repeatedly for things you want; it is not necessary to tell God about it every day."
There is more to it, of course, and he goes on to explain the priciple in detail.

However, your experience seems to illustrate the efficacy of his method/science.
      Nice!

Awesome indeed! In the most literal sense of the word.
What stands out for me about Wally is the fact that he observed this phenomenon.....and instead of quietly resigning himself to fate with a shrug of the shoulders (as most people would do), he set out to find out WHY this was so and perhaps more importantly- HOW this worked. On top of all that he then did humanity the immense service of documenting the method that he had observed and defined in a clear, concise and easily readable book.

      Mr. Wallace did LARGE work!

Although 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne was over-hyped and superficial, the Abraham-Hicks approach is very different. They do not 'stress' action but it looms large in their teachings as, apart from specific mentions of it, there are frequent references to 'going with the flow' (of energy) and their numerous seminars place a lot of emphasis on going downstream (with the flow) rather than upstream (against the flow).

In the Abraham-Hicks system, action is a part of the dynamic, with energy (motivation, drive, enthusiasm) emerging from a constant focus. This inspires action. The focus provides direction, purpose, opportunity and energy. This drives us to action. We merely have to 'go with the flow'.

One reason there is not 'emphasis' on action is because that would cause the focus to be on the process and we would become 'process-driven'. There would be a tendency to look for 'what has to be done'. That would be the goal and there would be endless activity on research, study and interesting but fruitless activity because we would be served what has become our goal - action.

When the dynamic is understood, there is action and it is seamless, emerging naturally in our everyday lives, as we are driven in the direction of what has been the constant focus of our attention.

            @Log0008-

            1) I must presume that you are merely increasing your post count.

However, thank you for raising that point and allowing for some clarification.
I have taken the liberty, since you can't send PMs yet, of sending you a PM with my email address- Please request a copy of the book and I'll send it with the greatest of pleasure.

            2) Definition taken from Wikipedia:

Science (from Latin: scientia meaning "knowledge") is an enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the world.[1][2][3][4] An older and closely related meaning still in use today is that of Aristotle, for whom scientific knowledge was a body of reliable knowledge that can be logically and rationally explained

            3) I qoute, in full here, the Preface from the book:

THIS book is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

It is expected that the reader will take the fundamental statements upon faith, just as he would take statements concerning a law of electrical action if they were promulgated by a Marconi or an Edison; and, taking the statements upon faith, that he will prove their truth by acting upon them without fear or hesitation. Every man or woman who does this will certainly get rich; for the science herein applied is an exact science, and failure is impossible. For the benefit, however, of those who wish to investigate philosophical theories and so secure a logical basis for faith, I will here cite certain authorities.

The monistic theory of the universe the theory that One is All, and that All is One; That one Substance manifests itself as the seeming many elements of the material world -is of Hindu origin, and has been gradually winning its way into the thought of the western world for two hundred years. It is the foundation of all the Oriental philosophies, and of those of Descartes, Spinoza, Leibnitz, Schopenhauer, Hegel, and Emerson.

The reader who would dig to the philosophical foundations of this is advised to read Hegel and Emerson for himself.

In writing this book I have sacrificed all other considerations to plainness and simplicity of style, so that all might understand. The plan of action laid down herein was deduced from the conclusions of philosophy; it has been thoroughly tested, and bears the supreme test of practical experiment; it works. If you wish to know how the conclusions were arrived at, read the writings of the authors mentioned above; and if you wish to reap the fruits of their philosophies in actual practice, read this book and do exactly as it tells you to do----

Thanks to "The Science of Getting Rich" I met my wife on the forum Rebecca Fine set up to study the book, moved from the USA to Australia and now earn 1000% more than I did during my 48 years in the States! I'm eternally grateful for the lessons it teaches!

Thank you for sharing that wonderful story! Wally is truly one of the unsung heroes of the last century.
Imagine if one could compile a volume of people's experiences/results achieved...

Hmmmm.....what do the Warriors think of this idea?

        Best wishes,

That's where the author is streets ahead of many others- he does not waffle....it makes the book a pleasure to read. It is quite possibly the nearest thing to a "paint by numbers" guide to manifestation you could find anywhere.

This is great. I read it a while ago too and it took me a bit to get past the language but it was well worth it.

Regardless of whether you are a millionaire or a billionaire (or neither) this is always an interesting book to read. I know a couple of multi-millionaires who have read this book. Unfortunately i don't know any billionaires. :p

Great book, highly recommended. I picked up The Science of Success which is 3 Wattles books in one for $5 at a yard sale. Read this Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill to get your mind in the right state before starting any business venture.

This is all stupid stuff. I don't believe in it. There's no rocket science. It's just that work hard, be dedicated, and be honest with yourself.

  • For me personally Wallace Wattles books have made a huge impact on all areas of my life - even after a decade of personal development, and I am sure that speaks both for the books and somewhat against my previous efforts

I've recently gotten together with some friends to make this information more widely available and create some powerful tools based on it.

If you want to access the audiobooks for free, you can either get them through the link in my signature line, OR, if you don't want to be on our email list, PM me and I will send you the direct download link, just please check out and the list of tools offered and PM me which ones (if not all) you would like to get the direct links for...

Much love & success to all of you!

To understand the value of personal development books in today's culture it is good to read the golden oldies like this and "Acres of Diamonds" by Russell Conway. Samuel Smiles "Self Help" started it all off in Victorian times - I found a 1914 copy in a Shrewsbury booksellers.

I think these writers would have been strongly criticized in their era for daring to suggest that our future success is largely up to our present attitude, decision making and action taking. People preferred to called it Fate or Damnation or The Fall Of Man. Nowadays of course we all know better and spend our time playing computer games...

I have read the book as well. It simply tells you that your destiny is pretty much in your hands. You have the capacity to determine how your future will be based on the kind of mental attitude you have now. Its really worth reading.
