Failure =
Learning, Improving, Success, Progressing …

Are you afraid of “failure?” (Many people are.) Maybe it’s holding you back from accomplishing more in life?

Well I believe people are afraid of “failure” because they don’t understand something. Something which the great people of our time were privy to. I suppose you could call it a “success secret.” See, there’s really no such thing as “failure.” (At least not how most people think about it.)

Thomas J. Watson (Founder, IBM) advised:

“Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure.” (Haha) Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Doubling your rate of “failure.” However, when you think about it, that’s an amazing piece of advice. Why? Because what you’re doing is doubling your rate of progress.

Success is built on “failure.” Thomas continues: “You can be discouraged by failure, or you can learn from it. So go a head and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because, remember, that is where you will find success.”

Another way of looking at “failure”is to think of it as a stepping stone. See instead of it being something that holds you back, it can be something which propels you forward. And, for this to happen, all you have to do is learn something from it. As Napoleon Hill (“Think And Grow Rich”) said:

“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit …”

In the Autumn of 2004 I was struck down by a serious mental illness. Sometimes life wasn’t worth living.

However, that quotation from Napoleon Hill has helped me to make a full recovery. What’s more, I have learned a great many things from my experience. Including: Becoming emotionally and mentally stronger. Being more appreciative and grateful. Rejuvenating my relationship with “God.” (Etc.)

See, no matter what happens you can learn something from “failure.” And I hope this post has given you a new way of thinking. If I could share just one “success secret” with you, this would be it.

Thank You for reading. : )

I used to feel exactly the same way before I began to understand this concept. : )

Something I have to mention is that when I say I'm not afraid of "failure" I don't mean I'm 100% impervious to it like Superman. What I mean is that I'm only at 5-10% anxiety/fear etc. instead of 80 - 90%.

Thank You for the feedback everyone.

Failure is a good thing as long as you learn from it and that the failure didn't cost you a lot of money and time wasted! With money wasted being the worst part of failure more than time wasted.

We all know that we learn from mistakes......hence it's true that failure pushes us a step forward towards success.....however we should remember that failure is not a crime but not learning from it is a sin.......

I totally agree with you on that, every failure has its lessons. We learn from our mistakes and that we shouldn't set our mistakes as a part of our life that we shouldn't want to remember. Each mistakes and failures that we experience in life, each of them give lessons in their own way that makes us to improve ourselves and make us a better person at present.
Don't let failures be a hindrance to your dream, as a matter of fact, overcomes that challenges and you will learn something from that failure.

Always set a positive outlook in life.

There's nothing wrong with failure, as failure, often in the form of rejection, all ties in with the desire to be accepted.

I'm currently in the early development process of writing an ebook on this very subject, and it's going to be geared towards Internet Marketers. I could be giving it away for free, at least at first, here on the Warrior Forum. It could be a bit of a ways out, as I'm going through all the words of my many mentors, studying, taking thousands upon thousands of notes, comparing, contrasting, and ultimately developing an ebook to help you all in the Internet Marketing world succeed.

That's MY dream, to help people and make a living at it. I've done Internet Marketing, and I enjoy it, but on a scale of one to five, it might eek out a four, and that's at best. I feel amazing when I'm helping people get beyond their issues and problems, then understand why they felt that way and how to avoid tripping into the same pitfall again.

Failure is NOT an option. You WILL fail, and you have to accept that. As has been stated...

Success is the result of good judgement
Good judgement is the result of experience
Experience is the result of bad judgment

"Experience" is failure. You don't have to look at it as failure, look at it as "experience". You learned something, and if you fail, but you learn something, then you've gained EXPERIENCE.

I hope this helps all of you, and thank you, Jonathan, for your insight.

Look forward to more from me someday, as it's my intention to help all of you the best I can.

    Success is built on “failure.”
Let us be careful not to always swallow every word handed down to us by motivational speakers. failure has never been our friend if you ask me. If failures were good, then what would success be? I think that when we say failure is good, we simply mean that learning from the experience of failure is what is good, and not the failure itself. Failure is our enemy which does us good by letting us know that there are lower laws and that there are higher laws. Very quickly, let me say that what we actually call failures are never failures at all but hurdles to cross. For instance, a child in an elementary school who always comes out first in his class may think that he can immediately go to an undergraduate class to participate in their exams. Guess what happens? He may just crumble like a pack of cards and might errorneously think that he failed. Nonsense! Life is about learning to master new and progressively higher laws. When we are equipped with this understanding, we then can appriopriately differentiate between the word "failure" and the word, success. They are never thesame just as positives and negatives are never thesame.
Now can we reconstruct the above quote? Here is my suggestion: "Success is buit on the lessons of failure."

Yeah I suppose that is a better way of looking at it. Thanks for the contribution Omoblessed.

However one could say that without failure there wouldn't be any lessons so in a sense my original statement holds true. Success is built on failure because failure gives us lessons. (When we look for them.) You are thinking of failure as being the enemy of success but it isn't at all. Still, I like your improvement because it's more accurate.

To enable people to succeed, it's imperative they should fail first. Just exactly why is failure crucial to success? Failure allows you to learn from their own mistakes. However, the only issue is always that most people will not acknowledge failure because their own doings. Instead, they have an inclination to blame people or situation. Many people obtain the habit of blaming God while many on Fate. However, for those who are likely to succeed, they cannot blame anyone other then themselves for the failure thus they have an inclination to figure even harder achievement for an additional similar situation.

You are unable to separate failure from success. Success could be the mix of what the heck is working, and what's not worked previously. As you wouldn't normally have your ability to succeed without those past failures, those failures are section of ensuring your success - which makes them successes in properly themselves.
