In 59 seconds...

I've been reading a really good book lately… It is called 59 seconds (Think a little - Change a lot) and I absolutely recommend it to everyone who is eager to achieve success in any sphere of life!
It is full of ‘mind-blowing’ ideas, tricks and tips that can help you better utilize your grey matter in order to seize your full potential and enjoy your life more fully...
In this thread, I am going to list some of the ideas that I found particularly useful!
1) Go green!
It’s a wide known fact that nature enhances creativity… but why is this so? Many scientists argue that it might be due to a fact that our minds are more relaxed when surrounded by a ‘green environment’. Deep within our genes, nature represents food, and food represents comfort… therefore, unconsciously, you feel more secure and at ease, thus being able to come up more creative ideas.
Further on, several scientific experiments have shown that not only nature, but the green color itself can significantly boost your creativity!
This is when I finally started thinking it’s about time I painted my room…

2) The perfect you… or is it?
Many self-help books have been suggesting that a clear, daily visualization of your perfect life will make you more likely achieve those goals and live your dream.
However, a recent study has shown that usually quite the opposite is true. While day-dreaming about your perfect life may put a smile on your face, it can also kill the necessity of achieving it… On the other hand, if you visualize the PROCESS instead of the RESULT, you will most certainly perform better.
So, next time you have an important exam, or you’re doing an important product launch, instead of visualizing your celebration, visualize the steps that need to be taken!
3) IM-perfection
Do you want to achieve IM perfection? Try practicing imperfection! Research suggests that our minds are much more likely to come up with creative ideas if we are pre-entertained with imperfect, imbalanced images, sounds and appearances.
Just staring at a picture with 4 triangles and one circle at the end, or 3 right-pointing arrows followed by a left-pointing arrow can spark your creativity juices!
Spending a couple of minutes describing an artist, or even a typical ‘punk’ will also do the trick.
4) Hi-Bye technique!
When you’re trying to think of a great title for your next article, or a great e-mail heading – try this:
For 2 minutes, brainstorm every possible thing you can think of. Don’t hesitate, even if it sounds stupid, jot it down, and keep going. When the 2 minutes is up, stop doing it and immediately employ your conscious mind with something else – do anagrams, solve crosswords, etc. In other words, distract yourself from consciously thinking about the subject.
After about 15-30 minutes, without too much thinking, write down a couple of possible titles/headings. You will see that your subconscious mind has actually managed to come up with much more creative solutions than your conscious mind would!
I am not yet finished reading this book, but I found it to be a great read and I deeply recommend it to everyone! There is even an audio-book version of it I think…
Anyway – to your lasting success!
Kind Regards,
Zannix
