What is your inspiring music?

I go back... 70's, 60's and 50's. Maybe a little Underground Garage on Sirius. Current music doesn't do it for me. If I am reading.. it's classical instrumental so the lyrics don't cloud me.

Honestly, it depends on the task at hand. If it is routine paperwork, then classical music helps to get the rhythm going and get the tasks done. If it is working with search engines, then 60's and 70's music is perfect.

Not a fan of rap...but love Eminem's "Not Affraid"

Mostly Rock, Marley, Metal!...anything with a WARRIOR mentality!

NOTE: While my computer is filled with hard core, metal, and thrash (an acquired taste no doubt) -I have a broad range of music from blues, folk, and classics like Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, and Otis Redding...all stuff my Dad played and sang with his guitar.

I have so many tunes that I turn to for different situations but the one that sticks constantly in my mind and what I love to listen to on repeat is Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey - 'When you Believe'. I find this so inspirational and it reminds me that 'I can achieve anything I want, if I believe'.

Yanni is amazing! Very relaxing and just beautiful. I have been listening to a lot of "bineural beats" lately. They are supposed to help get your brain to an ideal frequency....like the way you feel when you are in a really good flow state. There is an app for iphone called Ambi Sci (it has a picture of Tesla on it and is orange) it has a bunch of ambient songs and bineural tracks. It has really helped me to focus, you can also find the same stuff on YouTube. The reason I like it is cuz there is no words or anything and it never ends, it really has helped me to focus.

Also, I like to listen to a little Jay-Z or Eminem to get pumped up before working, but not during cuz it distracts me.

There's something about movie music that really does it for me. Things like:

Gladiator - Theme
Last of the Mohicans
Lord of the Rings - Breaking of the Fellowship and May it Be
Leap of Faith - Change in My Life
and a personal favourite at the moment: North by Paul Mounsey

They all have an uplifting feel to them - great attitude adjusters.

Believe it or not, The Bourne Trilogy! There are "songs" from those movies that drive you completely, especially during a workout. At other times some of the soundtrack songs make for good walking music. (I put songs in quotes because most of the music is instrumental.)

Another song I like is called "Way Beyond Fear", from the Thief Of Hearts soundtrack.

And then there's "In The Air Tonight". The Phil Collins version, not the newer one.

Come to think of it, there are even a few good motivational songs on one of the James Bond compilation CDs.

Oh! Almost forgot about one because I haven't played it in a while. The song from the shootout scene in The Matrix, where Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss seem to walk on walls as they take out the guards near the metal detectors just before they get in the elevator to go and rescue Morpheus. That one gets me motivated pretty quickly, believe it or not.
