Visualization V Affirmations - difference?

Hey ALL

ive read that we all think in images, and that to create a new habit or belief we need to visualize.

Ive already read that when in a relaxed state we should also say an affirmation to strengthen that image, but im wondering how does an affirmation work since it isnt an image but words?

Thank you

Your brain does think very visually, but its even more affected by sound.

Which would make more sense to you, watching a movie without the sound, or listening to a movie without the picture.

Either way, both forms of recieving information are very powerful.

Having visual images are great, and affermations are just as good for seeing results.

Every single word that goes into your head has some sort of response from your brain, so by actually saying the affirmation, you are giving a lot more for your brain to work with, and you will be more successful.

    i hope that explains it

brilliant thank you and the best times for affirmations is during that relaxed time of morning, sleep or meditation correct?

Both are useful concepts, that is if you strive to become successful in your endeavors. Visualization becomes your source of motivation and inspiration to attain your goals. Meanwhile, affirmation will give you that realization that it is achievable and you need to act on your goals. So, can't say one is more important than the other, but they surely have a huge difference.

@john, your absolutely right, they have different goals but both visualizations and affirmations are very important for developing a powerful successful mindset.

@james, yes during that relaxed state your mind is more open to suggestion than usual so therefore they are the best times for these exercises

When you say these affirmations out loud you affect your subconscious mind which is extremely powerful, and if you do it with feelings and passion often enough and keep doing it this way, you'll practically become unstoppable.

Another good way to get it in your head is to have a post it note, or some sort of sign near your computer that has a positive affirmation and an image on it.......Then whenever you are working you will have the affirmation right their in your peripheral vision.

The main difference of these two is that one works with images but the other one works with sounds.

If you see yourself living in the big house of your dreams (visualization) you can reinforce your visualization (or viceversa) with an affirmation like; I'm living in a big house like this one.

Both of them have the end of creating the feeling of having achieve it your dream and the certainty of being true.

I will be honest with you, I dont use visualizations... i know they help some people, but im not a very visual person, i like to see facts, and i want to hear things that are true....I dont want to look at a picture of a pile of money or a house, that wont get me anywhere.

I print out a piece of paper with a Sentence on it..........depending on what im trying to achieve, i might have a different paper up there.

At the moment im writing a massive e-book course, and its been tough... so I have the affirmation "Hundreds of people will bring out an e-book next week, and $100,000's are made every day from e-books, When you Do your Tasks, you WILL be successful"

And depending on what my current goals are, i just print out a different paper with a different sentence in it.

I dont stare at it all the time, but its in the the corner of my eye, i know what it says, and it keeps me mentally on track at all times!

a vision board is great, just stick up some affirmations and have them up there at all times!

I personally think words are more powerful than images......in this case specifically.... because you can say something that is true and applies to everyone and anyone...
but your never going to put up a picture of what your future looks like, if anything it will make you feel worse because by looking at it you think "I can never get that"

Then a positive image has now become a negative mental affirmation!!

If you use positive affirmations only, then you cant go wrong, and you cant read it in any other way other than positive!!

it helps.. but even saying it without emotion is good..

the more you say it, the more you believe it, and the more you believe it, the more emotion you will say it with!

              Hi James,

First of all, repeating bunch of affirmations without adding the emotions won't do you much good. Affirmations should be said out loud, intensified and mixed with emotions. This helps your subconscious mind absorb the 'orders' much more efficiently, than if said quietly and with no intensity.

              Kind Regards,
              Zannix

                thanks zannix

I was saying them at 1 time over and over again faster and fast in my mind trying to reach 1000 per day as i had read that somewhere too but that was pointless

i have also said some in the past in front of a mirror with intense feeling and felt that im about to pop a vein in my face with the intensity so what was i doing wrong here besides getting a sore throat? lol

The subconscious mind is basically like a boat that you can steer with your conscious mind. If you are constantly speaking good things to yourself and visualizing nice images then you will begin to experience those things in you reality without a doubt. Your behavior will begin to change and certain situations and circumstances will begin attracting to you and you should just say yes to any opportunity which presents itself. Always remember to be grateful when the universe throws you a bone, some things in life aren't a coincidence, they are merely an occurrence from the vibrations you project to the universe. Lol a lot of stuff goes into it, I hope I'm not sounding to philosophical anyway, I hope that helps some...

I understand, but i also read somewhere that when there is a choice between the conscious or subconscious the subconscious wins, such as a fear of flying, the conscious mind will say go you can do it etc but the subconscious imagination will always be stronger than conscious desire, so i am correct on this and i am new to all this, then ive realised that to change we must change the inner subsconscious mind with the conscious erm hope thats right

yep, what you say makes sense... you seem to be getting it alright.

How about this for a lesson..

DONT Think of a Black Cat

... However hard you try, you cant not think of a black cat... because black cat is now in your head, your subconscious makes you think of it...

Really the only way to Not think of something, is to think of something else..

So to stay positive, you must think of things positive, and your subconscious will follow!

You're absolutely correct in your statement. I couldn't agree more with you. The subconscious is very powerful but at the end of the day, if the conscious mind desires something heavily enough to the point where the desire outweighs the fear, it will ultimately subdue the subconscious and train it to bring about the desired result. I definitely agree with you that the subconscious is more powerful then the conscious, I just feel it all comes down to the desire of an individual. I was pretty nervous and scared about doing video marketing and getting my face out there (as most people are) and even though I was nervous and stuttering a little in my videos, I had to upload them because my desire for online money outweighed my fear of looking nervous on camera. I must say though, if the subconscious is trained to think a certain way for a long period of time, it's very hard to break out of that mental state, I literally had to force myself to upload my vids because in some of them I felt like I was humiliating myself and I couldn't watch them, but my desire was just too strong so I went ahead and uploaded them. You are correct though in your statement, if there was a choice right now to do something way out of my comfort zone, the subconscious would win. The imagination of something horrible can be stronger than a conscious willingness.
