How Did You Overcome Fear to Start Gathering a List

I was just wondering what is the biggest fear that people have when starting out in the online world in their own business.
  1. Is it fear of failure?
  2. Fear of not being good enough?
  3. Fear of no-one joining their list?
  4. Fear of managing/running/organizing their own business?
  5. Fear of not being able to do the technical stuff?
  6. Fear of not being able to...
How did you overcome your fears or how did you get started?

Kindest...

    Hello, Mary:

For me, it was a mixture of all of the above, but largely just the realization that there was so much to learn and my understanding of it at the time was so miniscule.

I feared making mistakes (which I did ... and still do) and making the wrong decisions (which I did ... and still do) and I had and still have a fear of rejection. A person's goal is to serve others and provide recognized and appreciated value, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say, and one person's treasure is another person's target for rejection. lol

How does one overcome fear? Well, most people never completely overcome fear; they just learn to control it. So the best way to deal with it is to face it, confront it and push through as quickly as possible.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain."

Fear is always a factor, but you need to be able to tell the different of a warning or just plain fear. You must not think with your head, but with your heart, and when it feels good than you can do it, but when you feel danger it may is a warning.

Like my example; I am moving back to Germany in February 2012 and I am so excited to make a new start. I know it will be a challenge, because I am moving with 2 suitcase and buy everything new, because some stuff will not fit in my new place and others will not work in Germany. I thought that it is cheaper just to buy it than to pay all this money to move my stuff. Yes, in the past I was attached to my material things until I got the answer to my prayer in 2 movies, one time the family lost everything in the flood and than a wildfire took everything from another family.

It showed me that you must let go and everything will work out ok. I just trust and have faith that my feeling telling me the true. I done it one time before, that I moved from Alabama to Texas without an job, and I found fast a job. It just took faith to jump in and knowing it will workout. When you have faith that special thing will happen, than it will happen. I also know that I will face challenges, but I also know that I can do it, because it's home.

Would I think with my mind, all excuses and fear will come to my mind and they will have a lot of contra why I shouldn't do it.

Well Mary my biggest fear was actually making it work. I'm very good at learning, analyzing, knowing I can succeed. I don't have to know everything to win. I can leverage those around me who do know. When it came right down to it I was afraid of winning. Most people are programmed from a very young age to lose. We get good at it. We become comfortable there. Winning, making good money stretches you outside of your comfort zone, and it's when we're forced to stretch that fear kicks in. But until we're forced to stretch (whether through life or making ourselves do it) that we grow.

I completely agree with this statement. Anyway, check out this link about sub-conscious fears:

For me I guess it was fearing to fail and not living up to my own expectations

      Wow, thank-you all for responding!
      Awesome stories too.

I like this quoted one as I think maybe underneath we all may feel a bit that way!

So, I guess fear is too common a trait we use, unfortunately one that hinders our efforts and holds us back.

      A real Traitor indeed!

Imagine if the late and great Steve Jobs had been "afeared" to do what he did for the world?

Do you think mostly it takes time to recognize we have a fear and then more time to brand it then more time to employ strategies to overcome it?

What do you think then is the fastest, smartest and most effective way to warrior on? (pardon the pun!...just realized that...hehehe)

I want to discover an instant fix for fear to allow people to move forwards in their lives and become all they can be so they too can contribute to the world and leave their legacy behind to benefit others.

The less you think of fear the more time you will have to create a successful plan. Reject fear and repeat to yourself "GO AWAY", say it with conviction and soon you will believe.

At first the fear was managing the list once it was growing. That I wouldn't be able to care for all those people in a personal way, in the high quality way each one deserves.

Maybe I worded that post incorrectly?

It could have been clearer on the starting a list area, instead of the fear bit!

    My bad!

New Q; How did you go about starting your lists AFTER deciding to go forwards into business?

    Sorry for the dyslexia'd question!
