I prefer long-term goals because I love challenging myself. I know that it requires a lot of hard work but the result is amazing. There will be problems and hindrance that you will meet along the way but it's just part of the success.

You need to set both short term and long term goals.

When achieved short term goals give inspiration to move forward to achieve the long term objective whatever that may be.

Goals should be like a tree.

The long term goals are the top of the tree out of reach without the branches which are the short term goals. Short term goals are not able to stand by themselves without the basis which is our purpose. The purpose fuels all the goals.

    What is your purpose?

I like what tony robbins says about setting up action steps. Tony Robbins had a great point in his “Personal Power” set where he said, “Never leave the sight of a goal without taking a step towards its achievement.” As helpful as it is to visualize your achievements and pump yourself up with motivation, you will need to take some action to make your goal happen. In business, a lot of these action steps come down to, “Should I do this myself, delegate it or hire it out?”

Each of us should have a clearly defined set of goals. A short-term goal is equally important as medium-term and long-term goals. You can never reach your medium term goal and even your long-term goal if you do not have a short-term goal. These are complements to each other. The more we accomplish our short-term goals, the closer are we to accomplishing our medium-term goal, likewise our long term goal. I also believe that once we accomplish our goals, we need to have a new one. It just doesn't stop. That's how we accomplish great things. It all start from a small step.

I have yearly goals, then 90 day goals, then 30 day goals, then daily action steps to get to those goals... I plan the year ahead, It takes a stack of planning but if you plan right then everything is so much easier and you are not wasting your time wondering what to do next.
