Does anyone else have this problem/trait?
Somewhere in this forum, I wrote a bit about how when you test a Chimp's ability to do a puzzle, the chimp will try all different combinations until something works. When you test an Orangutan's ability to do the same puzzle, the Orangutan will look at the puzzle, walk off, think about it, and come back and then just do the puzzle right the first time.
I think like an Orangutan. Always have. I was an A-or-F student. A if I got the big picture, F if I didn't. A few months ago I "Orangutan-brain figured out that I'm an Orangutan brain" and knowing that, I've been able to get stuff done that I'm still going
that happened?! The problem I'm running into is trying to explain what I need to people I'm working with without seeming 'lazy'.
I don't know how to tell people why and where I'm confused and make it make sense without having to have a giant "see chimp? you chimp, see orange ape-y thingy? Me orange ape-y thingy" rant, like the one above. I feel like when I try to explain it to people, they're like 'you're lazy, just jump right in and do it!" "I'm not lazy I'm confused!! If I wasn't confused about *this specific thing* I'd be doing it already!!
Help in how to explain that to people concisely what I need would be nice, or just a 'yeah, I have that problem too' would also be nice. Any other Orangutans out there or am I the only one?
