Does anyone else have this problem/trait?

This is a bit of rant, but if anybody else thinks like this and knows what this is like, that'd be great to just hear I'm not alone! It was going to go in the Offline Marketing forum originally, but after I shortened it, it seemed better placed here.

Somewhere in this forum, I wrote a bit about how when you test a Chimp's ability to do a puzzle, the chimp will try all different combinations until something works. When you test an Orangutan's ability to do the same puzzle, the Orangutan will look at the puzzle, walk off, think about it, and come back and then just do the puzzle right the first time.

I think like an Orangutan. Always have. I was an A-or-F student. A if I got the big picture, F if I didn't. A few months ago I "Orangutan-brain figured out that I'm an Orangutan brain" and knowing that, I've been able to get stuff done that I'm still going that happened?!

The problem I'm running into is trying to explain what I need to people I'm working with without seeming 'lazy'.

I don't know how to tell people why and where I'm confused and make it make sense without having to have a giant "see chimp? you chimp, see orange ape-y thingy? Me orange ape-y thingy" rant, like the one above. I feel like when I try to explain it to people, they're like 'you're lazy, just jump right in and do it!" "I'm not lazy I'm confused!! If I wasn't confused about *this specific thing* I'd be doing it already!!

Help in how to explain that to people concisely what I need would be nice, or just a 'yeah, I have that problem too' would also be nice. Any other Orangutans out there or am I the only one?

I'm more of a chimp but I have a son who is definitely an Orangutan. He's in college and either gets A's or F's in his classes. He will be on time for every appointment he makes, except the one's he makes with himself for things he doesn't feel are really important. He's 19 and already heading for being independently employed - regular employment will never work for him - and he's being very successful. Perhaps the thing all orangutan's need is to be in charge of their own lives. Then it becomes much less time consuming to explain things - you just go out and do them and everybody goes "wow."

I feel like Im Orangutan too... Can't start if I can't find out what's behind it or if I can't find a good motivation to do it...

I think I'm in between, I need to know the general idea but you really understand it fully if you don't do it.

It's kind of hard talking in abstract....If I need to figure how a Wordpress plugin works I would need to know in general what it does then jump right in and start playing with it. I don't think I have the patients to read everything and look at examples to fully understand and master it without doing.
