A Realization ; Why I FAIL !

Hello fellow Warriors,

I have came to a point in my life where I realize that no matter how bad you want something, no matter how much effort you put into it, you will never achieve your goal until you have honestly gotten over the demons of your past.

Now, you may say, what does this have to do with making money on the internet? Well, succeeding on the internet is different from everything else in life in no way, it makes it damn difficult to accomplish anything when still suffering from an issue that is greater than the will of any one person.

I know, I know, you are thinking to yourself " what the hell is this idiot talking about here" , well for every one person, this particular demon may be completely and 100% different. One thing that you could put your money on is that everyone's demon has one thing in common, it is an ongoing illness that until you control, diminish, and conquer from your life; it is going to hold you back in every aspect you pursue.

Whether it be finding a new job, devoloping a relationship with your friends and family, or simply being all that you are capable of being, until this hindrance is destroyed and removed from deep in ones' thoughts; it will continue to hold you back whether you actively realize it or not. No matter how bad you want it, no matter how much focus and attention you put forth, when the demon is still among you, you can count on one thing, and one thing only friends, failure.

Now friends, my demon is one that I am sure many of you have been effected with, if not you, yourself, personally; no doubt someone close to you has had their life directly affected by addiction. I am well on the way to recovery and I am proud to say that, it took much time, energy, and failure to get to where I am at today. It's a long road full of obstacles frankly I never believed would be an obstacle, if that makes any sense. It's like this; I for one never believed that could be me. I thought I was immune to that sort of beyond humanly controllable drive to do something so against my beliefs. But let me tell you friends, addiction can and will grab ahold of you by the balls and it doesn't let go until one gets on their knees and honestly faces the demon straight in the eyes.

I can say one thing for sure, until one is man enough to admit they have a problem that is beyond their control, until you swallow your pride and accept you do not have all the answers anymore and honestly find yourself a Higher Power; your in for one hell of a ride. Just for the record; I am not a religious man, I never have been and more than likely, never will be. A Higher Power does not necessarily mean God, Jesus Christ, Allah, or any of the kind ; it is simply something one can put their faith and belief into when the times get tough. Something that truly gives you the inspiration to cut the bull****, face the problem, and eventually conquer the demon is the best way I can describe what a Higher Power is to me. Friends, everyone has something different they believe in, something unique to be their Higher Power; and mine is a picture of my parents I carry with me every second I am privileged enough to walk Gods green earth.

Now you may be wondering why I am sharing this with everyone on the Main Internet Marketing forum, and by all means mods, if this is the wrong place , please feel free to move it. I took the time to share this with my fellow Warriors because I constantly see threads on why Warriors fail with Internet Marketing. Although this reason in particular, addiction, may not even be close to the main reason the vast majority of people fail in their attempts at building a stable and passive Internet business ; addiction is not the only obstacle in life, everyone - well, most everyone - faces a problem or an issue that is simply beyond their control , whether it be drugs, gambling , anxiety, relationships, past failures, or any problem that is moved to the conscious or subconscious level, could and MORE than likely is, holding you and your business ventures back or substantially hindering them from becoming as successful as they could be.

I made this thread to encourage you, my fellow Warriors, to come forth and admit your problems, whatever they may be, small or large to the best of your ability.Face your demon once and for all. I believe if we all came nose to nose with our problems and took advantage of the opportunity to relieve an underlying problem, no matter how small , off of our chests and out of our minds ; we could all enjoy more successes and perhaps have them come more easily.

Thank you all very much for hearing my story out,

Your friend and fellow Warrior,

Tim Baxa

P.S - I know we don't all have problems like me, but if you do I am personally inviting you to share it with me and take this chance to quit denying an issue and face the problem once and for all!!

AWESOME post Tim...firstly, I wish you well on your road to recovery.
And you're absolutely right, failure is a necessary part of life.
Failure is one side of the same coin - without failure, there is no success and without success, there is no failure.
If you don't fail, you will never win...funny thing is that the most successful people in the world are also the biggest failures. They just never let their failures keep them down.

My favorite quotation of all time is by Winston Churchill:

Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm

I can't think of many things more detrimental to your chances of success than addiction. By its very nature, addiction is something your life essentially revolves around while it's happening. Everything else takes a backseat in the meantime.

I highly commend you for realizing this and working to change it. A lot of people just don't have it in them to fight it.

This is a great thread and congrats on moving in the right direction.

I love how you see in the higher power. You sir understand faith.

I think the biggest thing for any one to learn in any business is psychology.

If you truly understand how the human mind works and still understand it in certain situations. There is nothing holding you back for success in life.

Buddhism is a religion I like as they see in them self's. They dont get mad, they understand the reason for that feeling before they act on it.

This is how I see life. On any (good or bad) situation ask your self why is this happening? Then ask your self how should I handle this? This is a lot harder then you think. To understand the feeling you have before you act on that feeling. Anger is the hardest.

If you can TRULY understand this, you will be successful in anything in your life. Even death from a loved can be easier if you try to understand why and what you should do about it. I give you this example as I lost my youngest son and thinking this way really helped me through this situation. Please don't ask details as its not the time or place.

You control your life and thoughts, they don't control you. Well for most people they do.

Try it out your self. The next feeling you have try to think about that feeling before you act on it. Then think what is the best way to act on that feeling.

A clear mind is a happy mind.

    Congrats again on moving forward.

I thought everything was going great. I just got a steady job and a steady life. Then one day, after thinking my alcohol demons were dead and I could handle one beer, I couldn't. I drank and drove and messed up my car. I thank the Lord that it was only exterior damage. It is ugly and is a reminder to me to stay away from alcohol for good forever. Now the only direction is forward.

Dude, I wrecked my brand new Mercedes, which I had for only 4 months because I was drunk driving. It still sucks when I think about it today, but I am very fortunate to be alive. I ran straight into a power pole and knocked it over. Electrical wires were everywhere from the power pole, and it was a rainy night also. Since the crash didn't kill me, I was still in danger of being electrocuted. Talk about being a luck SOB. That was a complete death trap.

Somebody was definitely looking out for me that night.

A great post, and one I can completely appreciate.
After you confront an addiction and make positive steps forward it's amazing how a downward spiral can become the exact opposite.
What's more, an addiction can take you to some horrible places however the insight and perspective you can gain from coming out the other side can be priceless.

I agree, and trust me I want it bad! Success in Internet Marketing is , in a way, like completely recovering from an addiction that you found yourself very deep in.

Like recovering from an addiction, one can expect many failures or relapses of which they must fight through and never give up. Internet Marketing relates to this because obviously you must expect many failures, not give up and keep on keeping on and eventually you will find the success.

Of course you have those people that drop their addiction and never look back just as you have those that succeed in the very first thing they endeavor into in Internet Marketing, kudos to them !

Appreciate the kind words. I agree with much of Internet Marketing being associated with the psychology of the the human mind. If you can truly understand how the vast majority of people think then you will be able to penetrate the market with much more success!

Thank you so much on the congratulations on moving forward; although I know that its not over yet, its an enigma I will live with for a very long time, physically the issues are under control, but mentally is a different story. Relapse can happen at anytime , and one must stay away from all influences and or triggers that encourage their brain to say " oh how I'd love to have that feeling again"

As someone previously said- you must control your thoughts and actions, and not let them control you.

Congratulations so much on the change you made with your life and kudos to you for making it happen! It sort of embarrasses me that I came from a good family with a good childhood and wasn't raised this way. I've disappointed a lot of people including myself but fortunately enough for me no matter what I've done in the past ; those that love me will always love me, successful or failure. I just grew sick of consistently making them worry all the time.

A perfect example of what I mean when I say it is unbelievably easy to have that small relapse believing that nothing bad will come from " just one " ; regardless of what drug/addiction we are referring too.

Good job realizing that and moving forward, some people would have found a way to make it someone else's fault , or just plain out not accept the fact that one was too many.

      Thanks for sharing

And this I can relate with more than anything. I have seen and been a lot of places I would have never been near had I not developed the problem I did. I have met people that are great people and just have a problem , and on the flip side, I have met the scum of the earth. One thing is for sure though, there have been many life lessons and experiences that I will keep with me the rest of my life because of the wrong path I decided to go down.

I am hoping when all said and done; I will be able to come out a stronger and wiser person because of my addiction. Life lessons can truly only be learned by experiencing them first hand . Conquer these demons and I believe wisdom will be acquired that otherwise never would have been experienced.

Failing is normal for everyone who's on the path to success. If you never fail, you never grow as a person. It's what you do after you fail that counts. Some people give up completely, others learn from why they fail and push forward even harder.

I understand all about failure because it happened to me recently. I even wrote a blog post about it.

Feel free to check it out here: RockyRasakith.com - Internet Marketing Tutorials for Beginners

I think my biggest demon is lack of focus. I get distracted quite easily. I have millions of great ideas constantly running through my head, but I have a hard time grasping onto one and sticking with it.

I know that many of you will wonder what this has to do with success. However, I learned very early in life that you have to take big risks to win.

OK I am an average guy. However, in 7th grade I asked the prettiest girl in the whole school (4,000 students) to be my girlfriend, in front of all my class mates and everyone. I was fully expecting her to say no. She said yes.

What I learned then I believe even now. Nothing you truly believe is impossible to you. The secret of success is courage. Oh yes, it really is that simple, but people refuse to win. Do not let life's little troubles scare you away. It is possible to become a proven winner.

This is an excellent post, I guess you can let addictions or bad habits dictate how you behave in a day, you can allow them to dictate when to focus on what, but you know what?

If you truly want to succeed in IM or anything else for that matter you have to acknowledge this problem you have (make friends with the problem) and work your way around it, beat the demon and find your focus.

So go find your demons and make friends with them, and then go get your focus back and kick some @@ss!

I once had a deep seated fear of the ocean. When I was about 8 years old, I almost drowned off the beach and it haunted me like nothing else. I read somewhere a few years ago that you have to learn to make friends with the problem, as soon as I really accepted this, the fear started to just go away, the "bad energy" associated with the ocean dissipated. Would you believe I just spend the past 12 years of my life working on luxury yachts, crossing oceans, going through some white knuckle moments, but that fear never held me back, because I didn't let it dictate my thoughts and feelings. I never once became seasick.
