How important is it to have a mentor?

I noticed that most successful people had a mentor who helped guide them through struggles. Also I read a lot in the forum that finding a mentor is one of the most important things.

In the past few months I have gotten into internet marketing and building businesses online. I have made a few sales but I feel like I haven't been able to reach my full potential because I don't really know what to do next and what I haven't been doing right or wrong.

I have a kid on the way and while I have an OK job I am definitely feeling the push to make more money to provide for my child.

I have these 2 online businesses:
Therondallastore.com
socialmediacheat.com

I have been outsourcing a lot of work to India and doing some advertizing but I feel like it's not hitting as good as it should.

How important is it to have a mentor and what is the best way to find one?

A mentor can help you avoid mistakes most people make. However, most people you may look forward to mentoring you will most likely be unwilling to do it. But you can look for their videos, interviews or articles online to learn about their philosophies, work ethics or believes. This can remove the fog that often characterizes the wealth creation journey.

I agree with you my dear friend.

I think everyone needs a mentor to learn from. Nobody makes it on his/her own. We always need somebody.

      Nice share.

      All the best.

A mentor it is going to help you to take your business to the next level. Without one, you may struggle more than you are now, and consequently it is going to take a lot longer to reach you full potential to see progress.

    I hope that helps.

    All the best.

I pay £450 for 2 hours once a month for a face-to-face with my mentor.

Hands down the best money I've ever spent.

It's amazing how paying a lof of money for something and wanting to get value from it forces you to take action - worth every penny on it's own.

Having a mentor is very helpful with all aspect especially with newbies. A mentor will teach you the most important factors that you need to consider in starting this business. Will encourage you and help you bring out the best in you. A mentor will also help you on how not to make mistakes or lessen the mistakes that you might do in this business.

I think mentors are great, but you have to be ready for them and be prepared to put in some serious work.

I have a friend who has spent a lot of money on a mentor, but to me this person isn't in a position to fully benefit, because 'finding the time' is an issue. Even to the point where he doesn't have time to do any business research!

If I could afford a mentor, I'd drop everything and create the time.

      Hey good post!

A mentor is extremely valuable...why? Well, most people are extras in their own films... so they need help...

      1. Correct foundations in all aspects!
      2. Proper planning..
      3. Goals set...
      4. Action plan that is stretching.
      5. Friendly shoulder to cry on and hard task master...

Finally, the targeted actions just accelerate your success! In addition, that kick up the backside makes sure you are on track!

If that does not justify their fee, then forget the whole notion. You are not in the right mindset!

Mary Jo, you've got the classic chicken and egg...you've got to take action...NOW!!

Hope this has helped you all...

      Llwyddiant!

I believe having a mentor is very important because to be honest, doing things alone is sometimes slow and lonely. When you have a mentor, you're more likely to get kicked in the butt to get the wheels going.

Please not to get THE RIGHT MENTOR. I've had a couple of mentors and often they were not what I wanted. Even in the gym, a mentor is there to push you through your boundaries. But he was just playing on his phone and telling me what to do without watching me.

So if you get a mentor, make sure they push you and hold you accountable. They're not there to be your friend but to get you results!

Having a mentor is great. He can keep you organized and you can discuss with him your ideas and business plans.

One important thing to realize is, he won't do the work for you. You can have the best mentor in the world, but if you don't take action, you won't get anywhere.

If you've never had a mentor, and the thought of using one is new to you, think back through your life. There is a good chance that you have had a mentor and maybe not realized it. Usually our first mentors are our parents, or another close family member. As we get older, teachers often take this role. These mentors are great for certain times in our lives, however, if you are ready to get ahead in your business, it is time to find a mentor who can help you get to the next level.
