Therein lies the problem. Theres a lot to sink your teeth into - or get totally overwhelmed and confused by.
As an internet marketer and a successful offline professional, I have marvelled at what i think is not only a major problem, but a massive epidemic - uncontrolled spending and buying every new 'big thing' thats released.
Why I think this problem is somewhat accepted..or tolerated is the fact that its reflective and indicative of wider society and the need to spend money and buy things.
I'm talking about buying product after product and not using them. I'm talking about hundreds and thousands of dollars a lot of prospective Im'ers are spending to try and get in the game.
I've been caught well and truly in this, and in fact have spent thousands of dollars that I never needed to spend.
I bought those 'cheap' products only to be sold 1,2 sometimes 3 upsells and a downsell then a constant barrage of quick to follow recommendations via an email list that tried to maximize its grip on creating and maintaining 'the confusion' that is so often the case with newbies.
Its a tough gig for intermediate and even in some cases, seasoned IM'ers to avoid the trap of buying product and programs...
Its IMPOSSIBLE for newbies to avoid as they do not know ANYTHING about online marketing or working online.
They are lambs to the slaughter and unfortunately it is often considered (if not spoken) that this is the way you learn and cut your teeth before entering the online IM world.
I think thats a big pity and not enough has or is being done to ensure 'newbies' get a fair go...
Many might say that its their problem and that its all experience - does it have to be that way though?
For many it is and will be based on their lack of application and drive perhaps to get serious about working online. But many have been destroyed by info overload and predating marketers intent on milking them of their dollars before (if ever) they wake up.
How can a newbie (let alone many others) not get attracted to savvy sales pages and marketing and big promos pushing the next big or sure thing?
Its tough. This is why I have the following advice for those prepared to heed it.
If you are starting out, or even if you are struggling with some of these issues, just take a step back and look at your results to this point.
Sometimes you are so far into this that you cannot see the issue.
There is a big difference between becoming familiar with the necessary functions and learnings of IM (like website/auto responder/social media etc) and going on a non stop spending spree filling up your folders with software and info you'll probably never ever even look at.
Marketing and marketers are becoming more sophisticated. The online environment right now is ever changing. Information even 6 months ago that was valid is valid no more.
Are you buying too many products?
Do you apply the techniques you learn in your purchases?
Do you use the software and plugins?
Are you treading water in a state of confusion or anticipation waiting for the next sure thing to get you on easy street?
Do you get far too many recommendations from lists you have subscribed to?
That my friends is just the tip of the iceberg.
Start noticing your habits and ask yourself if you are making progress in your pursuit of the magic system...
