What is the best advice you have given somebody?

Some of us are coaches, but everyone gives advice After a few years of coaching people, it's amazing how much advice comes around again and again - I thought it could be a great thing to see what advice people have given others and are willing to share on the forum...

This would be mine:
One persons ceiling is another persons floor.

It has changed the lives of a lot of people, including mine. Just the idea that your greatest day is someone else's worst, your biggest sale is someone else's worst, really pushes me to constantly redefine my priorities and my value.

      I'll share 2 pieces of advice. One I was given by my 4'9 Italian Grandmother long before I had children and the other I've added to it.

      "When Your Children Are Little, Their Problems Are Little. When Your Children Are Bigger, Their Problems Are Bigger". That advice has help me put things in perspective while developing some form of parental wisdom as I raised 5 children who are all now grown with children of their own.

      With that being said, I added on to her advice now that my children are parents, "It's Not That Your Children Don't Believe You, They Don't Believe Your Experience" If they never witnessed your experience then in their opinion it never really happened.

      In business clients are like our very own children. What was a small problem in the beginning has now grown into a bigger problem. When you come along to advise them, based on your experience at solving this particular problem, it's not that they don't believe you, they don't believe your solution will solve their problem, because they haven't witnessed your experience solving their problem.

    I'm not into coaching stuff but the advice that i have given to a friend goes like this, " Trust your instinct and let go of regrets" . I hope it worked, lol.

    A friend of mine constantly complains about how difficult it is to meet ends. The worst thing is he uses the word "WE" in all the depressing talks. He hates listening to ideas or solutions.

    Yesterday, I told him to buy a lottery . He got offended and started saying " I'm skilled and talented, lottery is for the weak. I can do this, I can do that .. etc. It was wonderful to see him talk right

    After a while I felt " If you genuinely suggest it's called a FREE advice and holds no value, If you trigger and make them say - It's enlightenment ! "

    All of the "best" advice I've given have had something to do with dealing with depression or anxiety, because there you can really see the results quickly.

    "Reality is perceived reality. A perceived 'realistic' or 'depressing' reality is no more real than a 'naive' or 'optimistic' reality. Choose wisely."

    "The best thing you can do to solve any problem is step away from it before you try to solve it."

    "Only use your own standards to evaluate yourself. Never ever borrow other peoples standards to evaluate your own matters."

    i try to follow the science of the obvious .. so people usually ignore my advice .. like.. you know reading relationship book by people who have been divorced a couple times.. might not be really good info.. phd or not ..

    i am getting out of the advice habit soon.. and pretty much will only offer advice to people who are willing to pay me for it ..
