Tradition stops excellence

Think about it...doing things the way that it has always been done stops us from making the kind of progress that makes something excellent.

But the good thing about this is that so many people only copy things so that when an original does appear it seems even the more so grand.

Another good thing is that all of us have the seeds of originality within us...we only need to concentrate on hearing from deep inside of us the way that we need to go.

    Yup, yup and yup.

One of my favorite quotes is this:

"All you need in life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure." - Mark Twain
I've always believed in that quote. And a big reason is because you're ignorant of tradition. You can look at things in a whole new way, and come up with creative solutions others long ago stopped looking for.

    Cheers,

      Agree completely!

There aren't enough people in life who strive to break the mold.

Daniel I had to laugh when I saw your post. This is an older one, and there was a newer one where we disagreed...and here you say "agree completely." It is said that great minds think alike...when we agree we have great minds...when we disagree what kind of minds do we think each other has then?

I think it is good to find someone who can disagree with your view. If people can only see things your way...all of the time...I would think that they are just flattering you, and eventually you will end up like the emperor out in public wearing his new clothes.

When you have someone who disagrees with you on the other hand, you have the opportunity to examine yourself and correct yourself where you are wrong.

        Respect Daniel

I don't know Broyde ... I guess I never bought into that old "great minds think alike" saw. Seems to me great minds think for themselves.

Broyde, glad to see someone else acknowledge that everyone has creative potential. I hear from a lot of people who think they aren't creative. Because they think it so, they aren't as creative as they could be, but only because they think it so.
