Redefining 'Being of Service' for Success

I think it is time to redefine 'being of service.'

Why?

Because it is one of the most powerful concepts for marketing and developing profit in any business BUT...

It is misinterpreted and misused by those who desperately need it.

The word 'service' used to cause some throw-up-in-my-mouth reactions on my part.

The people I knew who were preaching, promoting and TALKING about 'being of service' usually were down on their luck, struggling, drained and burned out; like they had taken a subconscious vow of poverty.

If THAT is what 'service' looked like, then I decided I was sooo not joining in.

Upon further inquiry, though, I realized where they went astray.

There are really two definitions of this concept:

#1. Service is being helpful in any way you can.

#2. Service is offering what invigorates you.

Is there a difference?

Yes. Huge.

When you come from the standpoint of being helpful, obstacles come up that prevent the expansion and progression of your business.

Helping someone else may cut you short, compromise your integrity, drain your pocketbook and keep you up at night.

Being helpful can lead you into niches that you do not really vibe with; that years down the line will cause an energy-consuming course correct.

Being helpful can cause you to do things that you do not want to do, that are not in alignment with your business model and your dreams.

Being helpful is not necessarily what your prospect/customer/friend/family member needs; nor what they would pay for.

Offering what invigorates (inspires/excites/uplifts) you always, without exception, gives value to the prospect AND profit to you.

It has the power to give you butterflies-in-the-stomach feelings about the mundane in your business, positioning you for success.

Offering what only you have to offer calms the storm of inner conflict when you are trying to be someone you are not; and everyone feels that authenticity. Burn out is no longer on the table.

You are finally leveraging what helps YOU, so no one can call bull s@#$ on it. Because it is real.

And THAT is being truly of service; a true embodiment of mutual success.

Any thoughts? How can you be less helpful, and more invigorated in what you offer?
