Has anyone read "The Power Of Now"?

Timeless classic from contemporary enlightened master.
It also contain simple, practical advices not only for spiritual development but for physical health, such as boosting body's immune system.
I think this is the best book by Eckhart Tolle containing all the essence of his teachings.

What I will always remember is referring time as the enemy and our minds work with it. We focus too much on the past or the future when we should only be focusing on the now.

Yes and it's sh*t.

That douche bag Eckhart Tolle is the biggest snake oil sales man there is.

I read a lot of this mind power, spiritual, philosophical and mystical stuff right.

The thing that gets me is how these guys never change, they never grow and they expect intelligent and mindful people to sit back and just take it.

The power of now was a good book when it first came out in the late 90's (not for me, I thought it was hard to read and he basically just wrote a book about one concept which I absolutely hate because he could have done it in 7 pages not a few hundred) but some people seemed to get something out of it.

The problem is, what has he done since then? what has he learnt and shared? how has he evolved? The answer is that he really has not. Most of these guys never do. They are like trending childrens toys, they come and go. I have his other book too, that was crap as well.

Let me tell you why, I find myself to be a spiritual person, spiritual people are deep thinkers and we have some depth to everything we do. So for me it's a little insulting where im reading a guy who claims he is enlightened but I honestly dont event think he compares to me (arrogant I know).

So i'm reading the book, and im going "yeah, OK, get it... moving along now... what else you got, oh! is that all?"

Its like that for me.

  Most of member suggest you to read. So read it (even if just few pages). And take or learn what is good for you. There might be only 1 thing that clings you. And that's it. If you find it, use it.

The Power of Now is a pretty great book. It's about how most suffering in life comes
from the unconscious habit of over thinking and how endless negative self-talk, and believing that what is going on in your mind is who you are a person, can ruin a person's life. There's much more to it than that, but those are the themes that stood out most to me. It helped me focus on being more action oriented and stop thinking and caring about things that don't concern me.

Go read the first chapter on Amazon. If it resonates with you read the book and post what you think about.

Hi Ryan,

I'm sure there is a good reason why this book keeps showing up in your life.

I would move it to the top of your to read list.

Once you get into the text you will quickly find out if it was something you were suppose to read now or not at all.

A good number of the people I know have read the book. It was first published back in 1997 or 1999. The book is an important read to help with self understanding. It's clear and well written. All the best to you!

I liked the book, full of very practical tips.
Now a lot of people seem to hate the author for some reason... but they don't provide better -or even as useful- advice.
