How To Deal With Haters

Hi Warriors!

Recently I read a thread asking why there is so much hate online. I thought this story would be helpful. It's not my story... but it gets the point across.
************************************************** **

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us!

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, really friendly. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!"

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage (frustration, anger, and disappointment, etc.). As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so... love the people who treat you right & pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a blessed, garbage-free day.

Wow, very philosophical cab driver, so true so many people suffering in quiet desperation, but you're right, it's how we deal with stuff that is the most important thing, why let their pain ruin our day?

  • Arun, like I have said before, "there's nothing like a good story to convey your message."

Good job, great story with just the right point of view concerning "haters". Everyone deserves the ability to post without severe criticism or harassment. No one wants to be made to feel small.

I like the idea of giving value and lifting everyone's spirits up. Nice helpful thread.

LOVED your story...it reminded me of this quote

A bad attitude is like a flat tire. If you don't change it, you'll never go anywhere.

    Insightful post, OP!

What we also fail to realize is that we often let our own "hate" devour us, and affect everyone around us. Everyone has their own worries - sometimes, the emotional pressure i just too much, and they want to find a place to vent it out.

I love the story. Very wise response from a wise taxi driver. You can chose either to be angry or not, what he did is worth emulating.

    Easy...Just ignore the haters.
You can choose to act or react of theirs action. That is our choice.
If you react they win and if you act you win.
Acting is a choice, reacting is not a choice.

Those "haters" do this just because to throw the negative emotions they get fro their lifes. They hate everyone who reached something in any aspect of life. It's quite sad for me because they can't find the way to motivate themselves and change something in their lifes. They'd rather make other people feel bad as they feel inside. When I meet haters, I feel sorry for them and totally ignore them.

That taxi driver was a very wise man regarding having a positive attitude.

My dad taught me a long time ago that the only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude.

I have always believed that having a bad attitude can literally impede love, blessings and destiny from finding you. If you have a bad attitude, then you are the reason you don't succeed, not anyone or anything else.

Haters are a bad attitude personified. Have you ever met one with a positive attitude?

Thanks for the story. Sometimes it can be because of the reasons that we are not aware of. In such cases we have to be sympathetic

This was awesome, also ties in with some of the elements from law of attraction.

After spending more and more time on this forum, I find myself instantly brining down my frustrations through out the day and telling myself everything is going to be ok. May sounds silly to some, but I am a very high strung anxious individual so this new found feeling of inner peace is quite satisfying.

Thank you for the OP. I shall take it with me on the stressful day I have ahead of me !

YEAH is really, what I can say we must learn how to control our attention.

Negative people can't control their attention that is why they are negative, if you don't concentrate and focus your attention on what he is saying you will not take that garbage.

  • Avoid arguments can avoid disaster because sometimes we did not know if they have a gun or any deadly weapons when we are arguing with them especially on that kind of situation. So its better to smile with them than to changing some thoughts to start the fight.

Ignored them, then laugh at them, so many things to think about on that planet to be bothered with people who are never happy with anything.

    Have a blessed, garbage-free day.

The problem is online these people then spend hours posting their poison on forums/blogs, twatter, f.b etc...and it then attracts other trolls who love nothing better than a poison attack.
