My journey towards success

I've been successful online for almost 4 years now, I've never had to go back to working.. not even a part-time job.

During that time, I've had my ups and my downs. Luckily, I've had many more ups to account for the few downs. I'm thankful to everyone who continues to support me and sad for those that still believe this is all just some type of made up dream..

Jealousy has been something I've dealt with constantly.. It gets overwhelming when people are constantly saying "good for you" or "that's lucky" in a snark-like way.

The "Are you serious?! You don't even look like you're old enough to drink yet!" is an uplifting comment I receive quite regularly as well, I probably get that one because I carry my laptop in a backpack everywhere I go. They likely think I'm still in school

And my favorite is.. "Where did you go to college/university?" with my favorable response of, "No where" which they almost always respond with, "What? Then how'd you learn this stuff?", and of course I always reply with, "Experience and not stressing over the little things".

I've had my ups, I've had my downs, and I'll continue to experience both of them, for the rest of my life. But it all boils down to the fact..

That I'm happy and successful in my own right.

Justin Lewis

P.S. I believe everyone has the ability to be successful, but don't let the word "success" get in the way, invest your time into what you're good at, enjoy the little things life has to throw your way, and continue to strive to be better. Your dreams won't come true until you write them in your mind. Good luck fellow Warriors.

Agreed, happiness directly relates to success It's just like marriage.. if you're happy it's a success. It's not about the money you can make together or the house you can buy together, it's about if you can actually be happy with one another and live without being stressed 24/7.

So true. And when you're happy with what you do, the money just follows. I think it's because when people see that you're passionate about your work and you do your best, they want to hire you, they want to work with you or buy from you.

If you hate what you do and you don't make any effort to do better, why would anyone want to work with you.

It's happiness that attracts money, not the other way around.

      Hey Justin,

Can you be more specific with what has worked for you in IM? I'm more interested in the PROCESS and SYSTEMS used to make you successful, not the actual event.

    This is my favorite part:

In the 3 years I've made an income from home I've been able to build over 825 websites for clients, 36 Facebook pages with over 368,000 fans, and I've had many $3,000+ days!

I'm happy. I'm successful. And what makes my job cool is that instead of being the employee at Starbucks that could likely never speak with the CEO, I talk with CEO's every single day

Good for you! You have such a great attitude.

I don't see any value in this for the rest of us! And.... what do you want us to say?

PS- don't mention about working hard because loads of PPL can work hard and still not make it.

This forum is dedicated to success and self improvement, I shared my success and self improvement over the years.

But I'll tell you right now.. I'm not a fan of working hard.

I'm a fan of working less and working smart.

Would you rather get 100 clients paying you $200 each and having to manage handling every single client...

Or would you rather get 5 clients paying you $4000 each and being able to really watch them succeed and help them progress?

I'm all for option 2 and the best part is that you can work FAR less, it's much less stressful, and although it does require you knowing what you're doing.. anyone can find these types of clients.

A concept that I thought was really funny was Ben & Jerry's.

Did you know people hated the taste of their ice cream initially? So instead of changing their recipe... they increased the price. People felt as if they were getting something better because it was more expensive than the other brands and you got much less...

It's kind of like buying a burger from a place like Five Guy versus a really nice restaurant... the restaurant hikes up the price even though it's definitely not needed and to be honest.. Five Guys probably kicks that burgers ass. Nevertheless though.. the restaurant sells the burgers.

Work less, work smart and don't be so negative.

  • There is nothing like a thread that is written from successful experience. When a person has traveled the tech roads like I believe JL has, they can speak from a position of authority without seeming to. Nice going, Justin Lewis.

Thanks a lot for the kind words man! I'll keep on sharing my experiences as they come my way. It's important that I share a lot of this, even though I've moved away from focusing so much on online clients and more into the offline world in the recent months.

I get messages from people all the time expresses how a single post changed their perception and beliefs online and because of that they were able to really change what they were doing for the better

      That alone is worth everything.

It's really one of those things that you have to experience to really understand.

But a short example would be...

If you want to live in Hawaii, make it happen in your mind. Write it out, not on a piece of paper but as a thought.

Make it happen in your mind and really visualize it. See it as a fact, rather than an opportunity. It's reality, you CAN live there, you CAN do whatever you want, YOU just need to make it happen in your mind.

Don't let things hold you back from your dreams. You can have it all.

Hey Lizh, I'm glad you like the quick quote It's one that I live by everyday. And as far as luck goes, there's definitely a lot of luck, it's also a lot of smart action.

There are plenty of people who probably came up with the EXACT same concept as eBay, Facebook, Google, etc... but the only ones who actually got anywhere with it are those that took action.

Luck fell into place for the few that took action.

AltaVista and Google are great examples. They would have never gone anywhere if it had just been a thought. They put an image in their head and they took smart action to make it happen.

Yahoo ended up buying out AltaVista, which they used for all search results in 96'.

Larry and Sergey (founders of Google) started working on BackRub (another search engine concept) in 96' which then evolved into the idea behind Google in 97'.

There's definitely a lot of luck, but timing, concepts, and action taking are definitely involved.

Did you mean to put the "?" at the end of your sentence?

If so, you really need to consider changing your tone away from a question and moreso towards an actual statement. Questioning everything can be good, but it can also be a downfall.

By making a statement and clearing saying that you're going to continue working for what you want, you'll be able to really push yourself.

Just my 2 cents regarding what you said, as I do see many people typing a "?" at the end of the supposed statement. Or maybe it's just a regional thing?

Luck can definitely be involved... but luck doesn't come to those that don't try.

You can either have a lottery mentality or an action taking mentality.
