I'm new to it, but I don't see it quite the way many people do. I don't think it really has much to do with external factors like the universe. I think it's all about internally conditioning yourself to see and act upon opportunity when it presents itself. But that's just me. A real LOA believer might think my view is completely wrong.

Hmmm that is an interesting way to look at it

Agree. I've not seen any good explanation why this would literally work the way some people say. There's completely reasonable and mundane explanation.

If you condition yourself to think a certain way you're likely to change your behaviour. If you behave in a way most people find positive you're likely to attract positive reactions from them. In other words, you're increasing your opportunities.

I don't know the answer. But I know how to find out the answer. Explain the "Law Of Attraction" to a multimillionaire, any multimillionaire. Their reaction should let you know how real it is.

No, it is a marketing slogan.

It has been my observation that things work for people that work at them.

Although I am usually full of cynicism and the Law of Attraction does seem a bit "fluffy". I think that as a concept it works but due to your perspective changing and your reaction to set backs and focus, not down to your outlook altering the universe or through some divine force.

The law of attraction is a description of how the Universe works. Its like describing gravity by saying that if you drop something, it will fall to the ground. People have been writing about it for a long time.

Anytime you read something about your life being the results of your thoughts, that is the Law of Attraction.

The words Law of Attraction of LOA are kind of like a marketing slogan but are still an description of how the world runs.

Let me suggest that the simple operations of the Universe do not respond to the thoughts of man.

Trying to compare the law of attraction to gravity is a tactic of the it's proponents.

Everything about your life is a result of actions, hopefully, mostly your own.

Everything responds to your thoughts, mostly because there is no external reality which you are separate from.

Lots of people change what they do in a day because they read about astrology, they change what they do in a day based on what they read online, or if the light is red when they get there. You are in charge of your life and whatever experiences you decide you are going to respond to makes that true for you.

Of course, your actions are what work for you in the physical world, but anyone who has ever coached or even watched a sporting event can tell you exactly a time when they saw a game and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that one team had given up and were going to lose.

Everything still looked the same, the teams were still playing but something was different apart from the physical actions going on.

If you look into research into Quantum Physics you will see they have already proven our thoughts do influence outcomes. Research into Placebo and Nocebo effects also demonstrates clearly that our thoughts influence / affect outcomes.

In Placebo research, if the person who knows it is a placebo pill disburses it, the placebo effect is far less than when the person who distributes the pill believes the pill is real and effective.

When you return to Quantum Physics and look at brain sync you'll see why this outcome is consistent.

Communication occurs not just verbally and through body language, our brains actually sync to the person who holds the stronger (more dominant, or in physics terms, more coherent) pattern).

This goes against all that most of us have been taught about the way things work but almost daily new scientific evidence is published. If you don't understand how Law of Attraction actually works you might not make the connection but anyone who has studied it for years and understands it can't miss the connection or how the research supports it.

Yes. Habit. Practice it until it becomes a habit. Think of your mind as a magnet. What you think, you attract.

The only time I've ever experienced or seen the "law of attraction" work is when someone decides on what they want then plans and takes action, overcoming obstacle along the way.

The Law of Attraction has been around since the beginning of 'time'. It is as evident as the air we breath. It's always with us.

Have you ever wandered why so many nice people show up in your life when you are feeling loving?

    Or

Have you noticed that when you are out in traffic pissed off, the jerks on the road seem to be endless?

Well when you cool down and feel loving again, you will notice that the jerks disappear and the loving people start to come back?

Then if you really take a closer look, they were the same people all along.

Thoughts should proceed action, and the better the thoughts then the action and result is normally better.

Also when our subconscious is programmed correctly it will make connections and see things our conscious will miss leading to seeing opportunities that might not be noticed.

    my 2 cents

I think you mean "Thoughts do preceed action" ?

I don't know if the law of attraction works but I know what does. Good old fashioned hard work. I believe when you are out their working towards something you will attract the things you need. Wait.... I guess it does work. :-)

But you can't just sit there and believe. You have to get up and do something. Like the good book says, faith without works is dead.

It also says that you get what you think about:

Matthew 18:2-6 He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Children still have faith.

Matthew 7:8 “For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

John 10:10 Jesus said, "I come so that they may have life and have it more abundantly".

Mark 11:24 “What things soever ye desire, When ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”.

Job 3:25 "Because a dreadful thing I have dreaded, it has come upon me. And what I have been scared of comes to me." Law of Attraction always works - when you think of unwanted, it works. When you think of wanted, it works. It is important to be aware of your thoughts.

Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Mark 9:23 Everything thing is possible for him who believes

Mark 11:24 whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours. (This feeling of IT IS, IT IS DONE is so important)

James 1:5 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt. (FAITH, BELIEF) You see - if you doubt your thoughts are not in alignment with your desire. You will vibrate doubt which is not a vibrational match to the manifestation desired.

Proverbs 4:23 Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

I've researched six major religions for both Law of Attraction and emotional guidance. It is in all of them.

I suspect the entire Law of Attraction concept has been hugely exaggerated by those looking to profit from it. I don't believe it should be referred to as a "Law", as this broadly confuses it with a backing of science. For example, magnetic fields (a law of physics that governs our universe) repel and attract atoms based on positive and negative charges. There is no "like attracts like" involved in this science. Positive charged atoms can never attract positive charged atoms.

What the Law of Attraction seems to describe is metaphysics, some fictional Jedi power. And metaphysics has no connection to real physics, neither quantum or classical.

You are bright for one so young.

But if someone mentions "quantum physics" at any point of the conversation, it means they don't have a real answer. Quantum physics is complex enough to be confusing to anyone that is not a theoretical physicist. So the term gets brought out when ever someone wants to give credence to the most inane of ideas.

Sorry, I have a cold, and my tolerance level for nonsense is at an all time low.

I posted this in another Law of Attraction thread!

I don't particularly like how it's presented in 'The Secret', a great book which talks about pretty much the same thing is The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. Good stuff :-)

Some people are just too lazy to put the work in to discover, work with, and use the elements to the law of attraction. They are either too lazy or just bitter or something
Of course people are going to try and profit from the law of attraction concepts - that doesn't mean it isn't real. Some people will try and profit from anything, even tragedy.

  • I have a different perspective of The Law of Attraction in terms of when people have self-sabotaging patterns of behavior who are in a sense attracting negative circumstances upon themselves.

In that sense, there habitual self-sabotage is self-fulfilling.

However, I do believe that patterns of self-sabotage can be broken.
