When Do You Know it Is Time for a Break?

When I feel overwhelmed, I break.

When my body begins to break down, through being really sick, I break.

We get signals. We just need to listen.

When do you know it is time for a break?

    Time for everything JR, REALLY good point.

    I remind myself that I have all the time in the world. I do not use this idea as an excuse to hesitate, or turn around when times get tough. I simply proceed at a calm pace, taking frequent breaks to align myself.

    Over time I've learned to listen to my body. If my motivation is low, I don't work. I use certain techniques to build my motivation back up, and once I feel inspired again I usually find that my productivity goes through the roof, simply because I gave myself the rest that I needed.

    When I'm not working, I make an effort to read a lot. I'll read a whole book in one day sometimes. That way, I gather new ideas for when I do get back to work. Plus reading good books can give you a huge boost of inspiration.

    Take a break? I see it like this:

    You need to feel good.
    You need to encourage feeling good.
    That means that if a break makes you feel good, keep that feeling strong however you need to do it. Just remember to listen, take inspired action, and get back up and do it again.

    Take a break when you don't feel good. Usually that means being tired, irritated, overwhelmed, mad or some other negative feeling that wants to take over. Just stop, stay open, and let it go before it turns into more.

      I never work for real long periods of time anymore. My day is get up. have coffee, work 2 hours, walk the dog, work 2 hours eat lunch and take a power nap, work 2 more hours call it a day.

      Keep my iPhone handy to reply to emails the rest of the day. Quitting your job and working at home for yourself is worth the effort and sacrifice to get there.

        Love this and I am very close to that too!! The key is that those 2 hours are extremely focused and productive. I'm either "on" or "off" with work.

    If you have a job, then you have to show up for work every day unless you are sick. It doesn't matter if you don't feel like it or not. When you have needs, responsibilities and bills to pay, you have to show up.

    But I have found (personally for me, others may have a different view) that in my online career so far, when my energy is low and I don't feel inspired, that my results usually tend to match even if I push myself.

    Others may tell you that you should still show up for work every day because if it was a job (working for an employer) that you would have to anyway.

    But when my energy is low, I don't do too much and I take a break.

    But when I am feeling 'inspired', I get way better results.

    I really do think that you need to take a break EVERYDAY.

    It is really important that you do the things that love doing daily, it doesn't matter what it is. Singing, dancing, watching a movie, taking a long shower. Or else you'll burn out and it will be hard for you get back up.

    When you've done everything you can, exhausted all resources. Time to give it a break. I let my coupon site sit for 3 months after it drained me, logged in my affiliate account and saw it was making money, 3 months later 10k per month.

    When you are working online and have all the time in the world when you just starting out, it is OK to take massive action but you need to work 1 hour, then take a break. Do something else for 15-30 minutes then come back fresh.

    That is what I do.

    Don't sit in front of your computer for 2-8 hours straight. You will burn yourself out.
