Dependence on Ourselves.

Hi Everyone,
Just though I'd share this with you.

One of the most difficult jobs most of us have to do is learn to depend on ourselves.

The reason why we don't, may or may not be clear to us because we have grown accustomed to looking elsewhere (our parents, teachers, employers, doctors among others)for our well being and support, this has become our unconscious reality.

If we take employers for example, their mindset is a bit different to employees. They are more inclined to depend on their own abilities, brave all the odds, pay our salaries by using the required skills to get the job done.

They of course benefit the most. I am of the opinion that we should find a way to shift our attitude from one of dependence to independence from employee to employer so as to
experience a more rewarding lifestyle.

Regards
rouse9.

If i ever was a preacher, this would be my first sermon everyday, independence. obama said it best, self reliant. I truly feel sorry for ppl who rely on the govt to come save them all the time... the only ppl you can depend on is yourself and god... no one else... NO ONE, else...

I couldn't agree more. Society has trained us to rely on our employers and our government for survival. This results in many of us developing a caged mentality where depend on others for our food and shelter.

"I don't have to worry about my retirement, the government will take care of that!"

It's thoughts like these that I feel cripple our abilities to think critically and make good decisions in our lives. I feel it's incredibly important for everyone to start realizing that we are solely responsible for our future.

It is wise to be self-reliant but to achieve that goal depends upon the very core values and other related factors that make you dependent on your sources of income. If you were relying on gas going to work then you are indirectly relying on an oil company that provides you fuel. And that oil company relies on their sales to profit from a lot of self-reliant consumers. And then the oil company is regulated by a governing agency (OPEC) that dictates the price of crude oil in the world market. However you put it, we are not exactly self-reliant, unless we sell raw materials or resources that even the government needs from us. What we need to do is that we utilize our skills to push ourselves "independent" from monopolized resources and create our own niche to become truly self-reliant. I know I am just ranting but it's how I see how it goes for me. I truly want to be self-reliant and I want to change my perspective.

    Many variables, no doubt.

Mindset certainly plays a large part in terms of "feeling" like an employee vs. being self-employed.
